As a nation we don't seem to export many players... Can anyone add to the list?

McGregor - Besiktas
Souness - Sampdoria
Miller- Bursispor
Jess- Dortmund
Lambert -Dortmund
Boyd- Portland
Archibald-Barcelona
Charnley - Djurgarden
Bates- Hamburg

Think we signed Jim Bett from Lokeren.

Did Mo Ross not play abroad somewhere?

There have been literally hundreds over the years in the USA and Australia alone.

At the moment off the top of my head there is. Morgan Russell Mackay-Stevens in the US

Denis Law Joe Jordan were in Italy Mark McGhee was at Hamburg. Scott Booth at Dortmund as was lambert and Murdo McLeod. Alan McInally st Bayern Munich Jim Bett at Lockern as was Jim Tommie the lust is endless. Even today we have players in Germany and Italy

Jess wasn’t at Dortmund it was Booth who went there and also played in Holland

Garry O'Connor went to Russia as well.

There's actually plenty Scots who went abroad

Pretty sure Stevie Lennon is still playing out in Iceland.

Bud Johnston - Vancouver Whitecaps.
Steve Archibald going to Barcelona still amazes me.

The one that came to mind (from before my time admittedly) was Joe Baker from Hibs who ended up with Dennis Law at Torino - then remembered that although he grew up in Scotland he was, in fact, English

Rab McKinnon - Twente
Allan Johnston - Rennes
Chris Iwelumo - Alemannia Aachen

How many of the players who played abroad became fluent in the local language where they played?

As a nation we seem to be collectively too thick to learn foreign languages.
