It must be horrible for the victims and their families for the SFA report delay. It will have to be published soon though, and when we get to see the original, and find out what was changed, when, and by who, it will surely strengthen calls for a full independent inquiry... and ultimately a lot of individuals looking at jail time.
It's pretty obvious that the original SFA attempt to mark their/Celtic's own homework would have been along the lines of CSA being a national, multi-club issue with the main focus being on never letting it happen again.
I can confidently guess the following won't have been in the original SFA report.
- The large majority of abusers and convicted abusers worked at one club
- That club knowingly re-employed known offenders
- That club has conducted several internal reviews, including one allegedly ongoing, which didn't find any offenders... Which allowed the paedophiles they employed to continue offending
- In at least one of these alleged investigations not one single victim was contacted.
- Large volumes of child pornography were found on the clubs premises
- The club attempted to claim that the youth team was a separate entity, despite a massive amount of evidence to the contrary
- The club paid their youth team money to change their name
- The club continued to pay large sums of money to a jailed and convicted paedophile ex-employee.
- An ex-director of the club, whilst recovering from an injury which doesn't medically exist, was quoted as saying the police told him not to change his story re. child sex abuse
- A large list of names of sex offenders employed by the club was passed to the police
- The club organised cross-border games with clubs which it has transpired also employed now-convicted abusers.
- Similar games were organised with religious sports clubs ran by sex offenders
- Several high-profile paedophiles, including showbiz personalities and religious figures, were connected with the club.
- Children were taken abroad by paedophiles to play in fictional games and tournaments
- More than one boys club was set up by convicted paedophiles, including one refered to in court as one of Scotland's worst ever offenders
- The club recently fought against a child sex abuse victim in court, and lost
- The club is facing imminent legal action from a large number of other victims.
- The club claimed to family members of a now-deceased victim that they had no record of him ever having played for the boys club. Apparently the club has access to records of the boys club which they claim was a separate entity.
- The club has for some reason not called for a public investigation so they could quash the scurilous rumours that they set-up, funded, operated, facitated, covered up, then covered up the cover-ups of at least more than one large paedophile ring.
There will be nothing in the report saying the club should be shut down. There will be no calls for a further investigation into how it went on for over 5 decades and to this day. There will be no calls for an investigation into the actions of the police, media, courts, politicians, former club employees, current club employees and anyone else who allowed the abuse to continue. Abuse which absolutely everyone knew was going on.
The day for an actual investigation is getting close.
