This is the Americans in charge of Liverpool and Manchester United having a huff because they were told to take their "Big Picture" idea and ram it.
For the same reason as Manchester United are being invited, it’s certainly not their current footballing ability, we’d have a pull that’d go way above what ninety-five percent of English football could provide.I doubt we’ll be invited, the likes of Wolves and Leicester would be above us in the pecking order
Maybe hoping to eventually include a couple of teams from South America who could be really competitive if some of their best players stopped heading to Europe. They have been trying for years to expand their influence to club competition. Why would this be FIFA backed? I thought they were supposed to take a backstage for anything beyond international football and globally applied rules?
This is 100% true, how many pubs have you seen worldwide which are either Rangers or Celtic pubs??We are going to have to agree to disagree here mate. I totally understand where you are coming from but the draw of Rangers and Celtic is still much bigger. No matter where you go in the world there will always be some sort of Rangers or Celtic supporters club.
I doubt we’ll be invited, the likes of Wolves and Leicester would be above us in the pecking order
Fixed that for you.Leicester maybe as they have a big catchment area, but Rangers would ultimately be miles bigger than these teams with a level TV deal
I think it seems different this time as they have a bank backing them and with 1 bank already stepping in then others will follow from these countries. After the carve up of the champions league format to the benefit of the big 5 countries in European football.
Rangers anderlecht and Ajax were in discussion to form a breakaway European competition and like these other proposals they also came to nothing
Sir duped was predicting it in the mid 90s- turns out he was right all alongi have predicted this for a while. i think it will cause ripples which will lead to a british league. its the compelling event that drives the EPL to need a fresh injection.
You know the simple answer , dont you.Why would this be FIFA backed? I thought they were supposed to take a backstage for anything beyond international football and globally applied rules?
Still disagree mate. I'm sure I saw viewing figures when we were in the Championship that on Sky the only game that had been viewed more than one of ours was a game like Man U v Arsenal. Look at the crowds we get in our Stadiums that some of the teams don't get. We are a much bigger name than the likes of even ValenciaThink some people on here are pretty ignorant when it comes to how low our viewing figures etc. Are in the modern day
Run of the mill EPL games absolutely dwarf the Old Firm games in the UK never mind worldwide
People talk about supporters clubs and bars but aside from the people going to them no one else cares. The reality is English clubs don’t need individual bars because their games are shown in every bar on the planet
Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig, Wolves, Leicester, Everton, Milan, Napoli, Roma, Valencia, Sevilla, Villarreal, Marseille, Lyon, Benfica, Porto, Ajax, PSV... there’s so many teams that’ll be invited before us outside of the ones creating the league
Hopefully they leave their leagues to play the new format. It might open a door slightly for a British league. More likely we would be 3rd or 4th tier Eugo league with possibility to advance. If it is closed shop then we are stuck here.i have predicted this for a while. i think it will cause ripples which will lead to a british league. its the compelling event that drives the EPL to need a fresh injection.
I get what you are saying but I think this is where the TV companies would step in and lets be honest more people would watch Rangers vs Man U than Arsenal vs A.C.
Totally agree, we have far more fans everywhere Genuine fans.We are going to have to agree to disagree here mate. I totally understand where you are coming from but the draw of Rangers and Celtic is still much bigger. Couldn’t disagree more TBHI get what you are saying but I think this is where the TV companies would step in and lets be honest more people would watch Rangers vs Man U than Arsenal vs A.C.
What makes someone a genuine fan though? Because they’re an expat?Totally agree, we have far more fans everywhere Genuine fans.
The average football fan in places like Thailand and China are mad on English football
€€££$$Why would this be FIFA backed? I thought they were supposed to take a backstage for anything beyond international football and globally applied rules?
Got talking to three guys from Leicester in Spain, it was the year after they had won the Premiership and asked them about it. They just laughed, two of them supported Liverpool and one supported Man United.Wolves and Leicester aren't getting invited to a European super league ffs. Nobody wants to see them. It's the man u's and Liverpools that drive English TV money, the rest are fortunate to ride on their coat tails.
Leicester and Wolves wouldn’t even make the top 3 in a Midlands league. Villa, Birmingham, Forest and WBA all arguably as big or bigger.I think it would depend on who is deciding it. If it’s European parties then there is no way they would come up with Wolves etc before us
What, you haven't read the part about bonus points being awarded on the basis of how many football tourists you can sell ppv to in the far east?Man u would currently finish bottom of any european league.
They are rotten.
This. This is the Americans in charge of Liverpool and Manchester United having a huff because they were told to take their "Big Picture" idea and ram it.
Relegated to Mesopotamia hopefully lolMan u would currently finish bottom of any european league.
They are rotten.
Lucky for them I don’t imagine the rule will be that you need to keep your current squad.Man u would currently finish bottom of any european league.
They are rotten.
Hopefully we get involved with any reshaping of leagues and get out of this sh*te hole
Totally missing the point. No matter how many Rangers or Celtic pubs/clubs there are around the world, look up at their tv screens and you’ll see an English game playing. This week Sky are showing 9 live English games and 1 Scottish. We are going to have to agree to disagree here mate. I totally understand where you are coming from but the draw of Rangers and Celtic is still much bigger. No matter where you go in the world there will always be some sort of Rangers or Celtic supporters club.

Nothing FIFA or UEFA has done in years has improved football in any way. Hope it all dies on its arseDomestic football in England is dead, has been for a long time but European football isn’t much better either, with the exception of possibly the bundesliga, most leagues are stale and boring. European football for most clubs in Europe keeps things going, and now the rich clubs are going to take the joy away from every other club for their own ends.
Football will eat itself alive due to the greed and preening from fifa. I hope it dies on its arse to be honest.
This fad will fade away when they all get bored and the investors start looking at the newly formed or newly thriving leagues that these greedy bastards have left behind.
If Rangers can directly benefit from the idiots who plan to leave then great, so be it, but the so called big clubs in Europe are dragging the rest down because of the greed they have.
Football will implode, this is just the beginning.
You’re absolutely correct. It’s not going to stop them meddling and further destroying it though.Nothing FIFA or UEFA has done in years has improved football in any way. Hope it all dies on its arse
Whilst I understand where you are coming from I don't necessarily agree.Anybody who thinks we have been discussed is deluded. Its all about the big 5 countries. 6 English, 4 Spanish, 4 Italian, 4 German and 2 French will be at least involved.
This is being pushed by Angell of Juve who sees Italian football getting left behind financially.
