Celtic face threat of multimillion pound compensation claim(The Times)

With this being discussed in Holyrood today, please take the time to email your MSP. It really does help, even if it seems they don't listen. If no one emails then they have an excuse to do nothing. Don't make it that easy.

Feel free to copy my letter if it helps.

Hello XYZ,

I had contacted you before regarding historic child abuse in Scottish football. At the time you had suggested that everyone should wait until the SFA had released its report on the subject before anything could be moved forward.

The SFA has now released its long-awaited / delayed report. It is welcome that every club has to own-up and apologise for their own part in any events.

However, questions are rightfully being asked about what has been omitted and how scale and the facts of circumstance have been carefully removed from the report. In the words of victims and victims’ families, it’s a whitewash.

So, with this subject due to be discussed in Holyrood today I ask you to consider the following:

- Was the author of the report the most suitable person to lead the investigation?

- Was the SFA the most suitable body to conduct the investigation, given influence and conflicts of interest?

- Why has so much information been omitted?

Is a full and open public independent enquiry the only way to forward now?

I trust you’ll do your best,

R R

I’ll leave you with the opinions of the ones that really matter.

If anyone has missed this then as Rick said, please feel free to use it. These MSP’s need pressured into doing the right thing.
Also if any of you haven’t seen Ricks blogs on this issue then I urge you to do so. Some outstanding work has been done by Rick on this.

Or maybe rangers are reluctant to comment on a report produced by someone with Hendry's background. A report that with the subtlety of a sledgehammer, succeeds in overlooking the undeniable evidence supporting a 40 year paedophile ring at one club and presents the situation as a football wide issue with shared responsibility.

I think, Mr Thomson, that if you took the time to consult the victims of these sick crimes on the subject of which individuals or organisations are causing them the most continued distress you will find that rangers are considered far less culpable than parasites like yourself and spiers.... and in a different stratosphere altogether to the club across the city.

This guy needs a sore face, I have seen his name on almost all of the Spotlight posts and he is a vile lady's front bottom.
A paedo apologist of the highest order. The unfortunate thing is people rise to this fool. The frightening thing is that people follow this individual also. This is probably the main instigator of all the abuse towards victims and their families. The ultimate keyboard warrior that would collapse face to face. Just keep hiding. Tick tock.

As much as I’m annoyed at the predicted antics from these cowards and weirdos, I’m equally annoyed at our PR dept and board.

each and every single one of them should be answering why this narrative is being allowed to gain traction.

utter neglect from those taking a wage in the name of defending our club.

not for the first time this season I find myself in disbelief at our PR levels.
Totally understand what you mean and where your coming from mate. For me though, there is an attempt to drag Rangers into a fire storm and make it all about us. At the moment out club is better saying nothing and staying out of this as the narrative and focus will change back to where it should be.

Just reading about another case of institutional abuse of children that the enquiry is looking into. St Ninians in Falkland Fife. I’m not a church goer or maybe up to speed with the different titles given to people within these organisations.
Clergymen, Christians ? but no mention that this run by the Catholic Church and no mention of priests? The article is from STV online, are they trying to protect the name of the church with this.

The term ‘brothers’ is used which suggests it was Roman Catholic.

Too much respect shown there by Gordon.

A real journalist would have taken on the real story of child abuse at that horrible club and made a name for himself (herself). Not some cowardly Dick hiding behind the pack of wolves that laughingly call themselves Scotland's Press.

The Fourth Estate right enough.

Hang in there Gordon, I hope you take these bastards for plenty and get your public apology.

Spotlight will soon be releasing a statement on certain press individuals. I hope people can see now why we took it outside Scotland.

Nothing been raised in holyrood today or this week, unless it was off camera.perhaps someone could clarify, when it was/ is due to be raised and with who?.
I received this yesterday, but I have not had any further response.

"Thank you for raising this. The below question will be raised with the Minister in the Scottish Parliament today. We will let you know later this afternoon what the Scottish Government’s response is to the independent review and its outcome.

Fulton MacGregor: To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to The Report of the Independent Review of Sexual Abuse in Scottish Football."

Having lived through this sinister period of youth football it is with heavy heart that l knew many of the victims of sexual abuse. Their story and experiences are absolutely horrific. Hopefully they can get some closure and comfort from the many good people and organisations fighting their corner.
The professional organisations that have and continue to let them down are an absolute disgrace, their stance on the events over decades is deplorable.
To the victims that have given up their anonymity a massive thanks, the bravery you have shown is commendable. Hopefully you all will receive the justice you absolutely deserve very soon.

I would hope a politician asks the following questions:-

1) Why were Sporting and Religious institutions excluded from the original inquiry?

2) Why were the SFA effectively allowed to direct the review, when they themselves are under pressure of possible legal action?

3) Why was Martin Henry, with his very questionable links to some of the worst offenders in Scotland, chosen to lead the review, despite protests from charities?

4) Why did the report omit so many testimonies and incidents?

5) How can the report be considered balanced and truthful, when many survivors and their families have denounced the report, with some going as far as saying there are serious and hurtful untruths in the review?

6) Why did the SFA state the report was delayed due to ongoing trials, when in the end it was in fact released before the completion of an existing case?

7) Was there any link in the ‘Apology Act‘ being introduced at the same time as both the governments investigation and the SFA review were announced? If not, then what prompted the introduction of the Apology Act?

8) One club in particular has facilitated the largest sporting CSA ring in known history over many decades, yet refuses to apologise fully and accept responsibility. Many people knew, including players, management, staff, police, and the media. It was an open secret. Given the review has not satisfied many of the victims, don’t you think it is time for a fully researched and transparent public inquiry? Or are you content to allow historic CSA in Scotland to continue to be swept under the carpet, even now?

Some of you may have noticed that the Dan Gordon thread has been chopped. This was at Spotlights request.
The negativity was getting too much from various posters and we were being contacted by survivors and families upset at certain posts.
It’s possible that the thread will come back at a later stage, but for now we had it removed.
Some of the replies on that thread were disgusting and I wish posters would think about the survivors and families before they tap away at their keyboard. I’m absolutely shocked by some of these replies and it’s unfortunate for those who have followed this that we had it removed. When we get more updates from Dan Gordon then we’ll update the thread with what we can.

Tim lurkers will do anything to derail this thread, however some of our own should have a wee look in before they look out

Excellent post.

If no politician asks those questions they should all be asked why not.

I would like to suggest a 9) if I may but I can't find it. I'd like to know why the SFA removed a passage from their child protection charter (I think, it was possibly something else) shortly after they had started their full and final review.

That's a great summing up, mate. Can't you get yourself into that wannabe parliament? That would shake the f**kpigs up a bit.

Here is a scenario

Dan Gordon offers his documentary to the BBC. The BBC say we will take it but we better talk to our Jock branch first.

BBC Scotland has one look and says "Oh shit, how do we get out of this one? I know, we will say that we have been trying to bury this for decades we have already done this subject to death. It has been covered extensively. Mark Daly's report a couple of years ago, really left nothing to be added to this story. We do not want it with the Scottish element included and won't contribute any of our budget towards it.

Am I reading this right?

A guy sat in a room with a lad who made child porn videos.
They set up a company together.
He then works for the RC church to help them cover up paedophilia.
And now he has been charged with reviewing child abuse in Scottish Football?

Did I read that wrong or is this what it says?
One of them (also involved with Celtic boys club) filmed himself raping his 5 month old god son and uploaded it on the computer. Was caught when the computer went for repair with the USB stick in it. The fact the USB stick was left in it in the office speaks to how comfortable they were doing it with the other people in the office imo.
