I’m not sure how Rangers managed to win all those qualifiers and EL games and OF which such a fallible CD lol

ye he has improvements to come but he is still recovering from a massively bad injury let’s give the man our support and some time to sort out his physical n mental new normal mate .

think you have seriously over criticised this player .
We don't have a bad defence, but when we move up a level in Europe against Leverkusen or Slavia we leaked like a sieve. Facts are the facts, if we want to improve results at that level we will need to improve the squad. I don't see what we have improving to that level.

If we sell Goldson to an EPL side that’s way underpriced after the season he’s just had.
I would be looking for 15 million plus for big goldson. If you see what some players are going for down there he's at least worth that. Hope he stays with us though.

Released early doors I'm sure from city was he not?
Matter of fact, he as well as Felix Nmecha (AM) have been releassed by Man City. Lukas Nmecha was on loan at RSC Anderlecht last season. There he played 41 games and scored 21 goals. Maybe he didn`t see any chances to get into the ManCity first team, so let his contract expire. A few "free" talents to be had there amongst the German u21s. All depends where they see themselves, family et al.

Definitely a few players we could pick up from that tournament for sure. We had our eyes on it so will be well aware

If GK does go what’s the realistic £ do we think we can get for him?

Hard to judge I know but if he has a good Euros then it could be a good figure.

Would love to keep him however

I’m not sure how people on here think a German international will come to Scotland. Gerrard or not, someone of his quality isn’t coming here.
He's an u21....
And not even their best.
If I was a scout at that game yesterday...you wouldn't be coming away with this lads name on your lips.

Looking at some of the Veerman youtube tapes, I have to say the guy does look impressive There's no doubt he'd substantially improve Rangers midfield, but the problem - and its an obvious one - is that we'd likely face stiff competition for his services from a host of other clubs, many of which will play in leagues more attractive than the SPL.
We keep saying that but the attraction of, pretty much, guaranteed European football is a major draw.
Maybe enough to balance against a number of more attractive leagues.
The ones we’ll have more difficulty beating are the money teams with the big wages.
A money driven player is always going to go elsewhere.

£15m minimum for the type of specialist player he is . And that’s the truth given the type of side he’s likely to end up at

He had a very good game yesterday man. Honestly don’t have a clue what some folk watch at times.

Yea Dorsch played well but Ozcan done everything really neatly and effortless at times.

Katic is a cert for a loan next season, Simpson may go out as well!!

Edmundson - who knows, i think he would be a decent midfielder but suspect he will leave in some capacity.

Goldson I’m convinced will sign a new deal - thats the important one.
I hope you’re right here but it’s just dragging on with nothing happening.
Of course, this may be deliberate and we’re looking for the correct time to get maximum exposure.
Competing against daily Euros news just now is maybe not the correct time.

Joe Worral is valued at £10M in the last 12 months of his current contract, that backs up what you are saying!

If you went specifically to watch him I don’t know how anyone wouldn’t be impressed, he looks a cracking player.

That said it’s ridiculous to suggest we wouldn’t be a viable option for him.

Sadly Tazza, and this is purely anecdotal, I reckon playing in the top 5 leagues is seen as far more attractive by most players now than playing in the Champions League for a club that is unlikely to have a good run in that competition.

Is optimism an un-staunch thing nowadays?

Seems to be, going by the number of folk who seem to think signing quality only happens to other teams and not us?

I must have missed us signing:

Kent
Morelos
Hagi
Helander
Aribo
Defoe
Goldson
Kamara

We even signed England cap Joey Barton after him tearing it up in the 6th best league in the world.

Yet some folk are watching an under 21 tournament or mid table belgian or dutch teams and elevating them to a different stratosphere than what our club is on.

Looking forward to us picking up Shinnie, Campbell and the likes on free transfers. Be mental as a club to aim for anything higher or better.

Hopefully some of the St Johnstone squad might not be out of our range, though their domestic cup record might move them out of our realistic range of targets.

I would also add, in response to your post, that in addition to the prospect of playing in Europe, the presence of Gerrard as manager would be a major plus in attracting a young midfielder such as Ozcan to Ibrox. But with equal certainty, I believe that the German coaches in charge of their u21's would advise him to ply his trade in a more challenging and competitive football environment than the SPL

Bit of a trend developing with players we have an interest in/targeting.

Okumu, Ozcan, Harroui, Ferhat, Sakala (signed)

Either free or going into the last 12 months of there contracts.

If we came away at the end of the summer with Okumu, Ozcan, Harroui, Ferhat it would be an incredible window the above bring quality and enhance the squad further and all are within our price range/likely budget for the summer.

I'm not sure the use of the word 'free' is entirely appropriate. Good deals, obviously, but if we look at the (cheap?) cross-border deal for Aribo it actually cost us circa £2m to get it over the line. Good value, for sure, but not the 'minimal' cost that gets bandied about.

Similar with the above, there may be no - or a lower - fee but we will still be paying handsomely in other ways.

I think if you look at our results in Europe with a non biased eyed you would say we did well, winning our group and getting to last 16. We scored a lot of goals in the process but we it cannot be overlooked that when we played the better sides we conceded a good number, far too many in my eyes. Benfica 5 goals, Antwerp 7 and Slavia 3, thats 15 goals over 6 games.

Like yourself, we have to tight up in midfield and defence or we'll take a pasting or two if we manage to get to CL group stage. IMHO we lost a lot of sloppy goals, goals that definitely could and should havd been prevented...... continue to do that on the highest stage and these errors will be punished mercilessly.

I can imagine rumours beginning to increase at the end of this week, and into next. This will, most probably, involve outgoing rumours as well as incoming.

As much as I don’t want any player to leave . We really do need that one big sale this summer. Our model requires it to be sustainable
If any have to go, I'm quite happy for Kamara to go,out of all our big players, he's the one that would be easier to replace, compared to an Alfie or a Kent.

I'll be intrigued to see how quickly and efficiently we move players on this summer in previous seasons we haven't half struggled to offload surplus players which usually results in a dash to get players out on loan etc

The quicker we trim the squad the more chances arise for us to bring players in.

I'm a pessimistic person at times mate but some of the negativity is way over the top.

Our recruitment in general has been exceptional for some time now, especially with the funds available.

We need to appreciate the job that's being done for us currently.

Couldn't disagree more. I'd do everything in my power to keep Kamara and build around him. The 'willingness' of so many on here to let him go mystifies. me. The 3 we should be looking to build around are Goldson, Kamara and Kent. Unfortunately all will be preyed upon.

All that said, if any player is reluctant to commit to a new deal, then they have to go. I've never been in favour of hanging onto players once their heart isn't in it. Hopefully that's not the case with any of those three.

This time last year i’d have probably said the same but he’s taken his game to a new level last season and has probably our best player in Europe.

If we were forced to sell someone I’d have Hagi, Helander and Barisic all ahead of Kamara for various reasons.

I agree although if we signed the four players mentioned in the above post you quoted on,I'd expect probably Helander and Kamara to be going the other way and generating between 25-30 million revenue depending how crazy prices go up after the euros.

Even with signing on fees, agents costs etc. I'd be surprised if the above four ended up costing more than 8-9 million in total.
And that's not counting Sakala who's already in the door.

I know it's all ifs and buts but it's a very exciting time for us and I can sense a confidence I haven't felt since the Advocaat days I'm how we're looking to dominate and evolve.

It's harder for me to keep my feet on the ground right now,and I can be a right moany b.stard at times!

I watched the U21's over the last week - Ozcan looks a player - for a free that would be a sensational bit of business.

should also mention Dorsch and Nemecha look levels above the rest.

Definitely agree here.
I’ve always thought that an attacking player for Rangers can learn so much about the game by playing up here.
It’s not every league you’ll go to that you’ll come up against blanket defences / low blocks so often, both home and away.
This and the obvious flip side being a need to be concentrating for the ninety and ready to defend against the quick break.

Sad being the exact word.

Baku and Maier too. Wirtz is a player but he’d cost a fortune.

I didn't even mention Wirtz as he is already rated at nearly £40m and Baku apparently now being valued of £20m.

the Germans do have some outstanding talent - the whole "Das Reboot" is starting to bring through some real real talent now.

for the same reason the scum signed a france u21 international, or when we signed england u21 captain in rossiter.

its not that crazy
I disagree on your comparisons. Ozcan will go to a more attractive league than ours.
