Is this rule still in place for the new season?
Who is yet to decide, celtic? In Europe it will be.
Domestically they have the option. Yet to decide on it.
That could get farcical with thisFIFA looking at unlimited subs
Unlimited subs?FIFA looking at unlimited subs so imagine it will be status quo regards the 5 subs for a while.
Not sure on detail but it is part of some FIFA trial which is also looking at shortenig the game and having a ball in play clock. Think there was other stuff but that was standouts. Infintino? was discussing it a few days agoUnlimited subs?
Like 5 a side rolling subs?
Better not be correct that would ruin football as we knew it.
I can’t agree, having Hagi, Wright, Aribo, Itten available in any game, Europe or home, gives us as much chance to change a game as any team. It's only going to benefit bigger (in financial terms) teams long term. The more they can use their squads, the more chance better players will happily sit on their benches instead of going somewhere else for game time. And the more ways they have to change a game in their favour. It may have a small benefit for us in Scotland, but in European terms it's definitely to our detriment.
5 subs is fine but I still can't fathom out why a sixth can't be usedat any stage of a game where a goalkeeper gets injured and is unable to carry on---i.e. if keeper gets injured early game the substitution can be made leaving the five rule still able to be used.
My reason for changing the goalkeeper when injured is recognising the goalkeeper as a specialist position. Not necessarily a goalkeeper, but they were trialing a concussion substitute which didn’t count as one of the 5 subs.
Not quite sure why a trial was necessary mins you, seems like the logical thing to do.
I'd like to see this to an extent. It would have to be limited I thong to a set number of opportunities to sub thought to avoid becoming farcical.FIFA looking at unlimited subs so imagine it will be status quo regards the 5 subs for a while.
Yeah there should really be special rules for keeper subs. It's ridiculous when you get a situation that an outfield player has to jump in goals. My reason for changing the goalkeeper when injured is recognising the goalkeeper as a specialist position.

Glad to hear it. Stand correctedFIFA came out and said this was false. The tournament that is using those rules has nothing to do with FIFA. Some journo ran a story that FIFA was running it and a bunch of other journos piled in. There is no plans for unlimited subs/30min halves etc.
Tranmeres use of subs was criminal during that friendly, they must have been desperate to beat us caus their manager is a mickey.I quite like the 5 subs but only over the 3 opportunites
I hope they stick with it

See post #22This is the danger with social media. As far as I was aware it was established it wasn't a Fifa trial and the article had it wrong. Has that correction since been debunked?
I disagree with this tbh. It's part of the game and no more a specialist position than a centre back or a striker. My reason for changing the goalkeeper when injured is recognising the goalkeeper as a specialist position.
