In the long term it was worth £3m to get them off our back.
There are a lot of moaners on here. The key thing is that King got rid of Ashley and he stumped up the cash to do it. King is a hero.
Try order something from the online megastore and you'll see.no they dont, part of the dodgy deal was rent free.
That’s got nothing to do with who owns the megastore.Try order something from the online megastore and you'll see.
Agreed broIf it gets them to f@ck then just do it. The further the Fatman is away from us the better.
Think quite a lot of people were kidding themselves on with the boycott,Guy in the superstore told me that 80% of their sales were online, So plenty were buying stuff.Buy absolutely nothing from Sports Direct. Their brand is toxic forever more.
And the fans had no influence? Some never seem to learn that scrutiny is not a dirty word. There are a lot of moaners on here. The key thing is that King got rid of Ashley and he stumped up the cash to do it. King is a hero.
As much as it sticks in the craw it was cheap at the price. For everything there has to be a cost. To get rid of SD costs us 3 mil. A cost worth paying imo
So getting your order delivered to 1 of our stores (Sports direct) or the fact the payment shows up on your bank account as to sports direct has got nohing to do with it?That’s got nothing to do with who owns the megastore.
That doesn’t mean they own the shop.So getting your order delivered to 1 of our stores (Sports direct) or the fact the payment shows up on your bank account as to sports direct has got nohing to do with it?
It means the online megastore is a sports directThat doesn’t mean they own the shop.
So they don’t own the shop then? All it means is the system still has sports direct branding on it, it’s no indication of who owns what and what % we get from retail. It means the online megastore is a sports direct
Also, any new commercial deals have still to be announced and these I am sure will eclipse the previous deals in terms of helping Rangers return to profit and better circumstances. In addition, now that Ashley is no longer connected better partners might come forward with better offers as he is no longer associated.A deal was done and DK gets rid of Ashley at the end of the season so stop bitching money well spent.
He rents it. Doesn’t own itTry order something from the online megastore and you'll see.
Which is fantastic. The three million was still a huge surprise though.£3m to ensure £6-10m revenue over the next 7 years, it's simple maths and we'll be reaping the benefits shortly.
Many top brands sold in his other outlets. Money talks. Most companies don't care that he's a lady's front bottom£3million is a hell of a lot of money. However over the 7 year period it will be more that repaid.
I also hope that once Ashley is out of the scene we may get better sponsorship etc. Would you really,if you were a really major reputable company, want to be associated with Sports Direct or Ashley?
Can only hope
Can you think of a reason why it wasn’t mentioned then ?
So you believe it not to be a good deal then?To portray it as a much better deal than it actually was ?
No - I think it was a necessary deal but not a good oneSo you believe it not to be a good deal then?
It is a great victory for our club,he was bad news for us,why can’t you get this?Happy to repeat ad nauseam if folk aren’t understanding
I agree completely with buying out Mike Ashley
I don’t think the deal is as good as was made out at the time as no metion of buy out
Understand this may be due to ND agreement but let’s be honest it was portrayed as a great victory for the club when the reality is it was a good deal for Ashley
Think your wildly misinformed if you believe our retail potential is only worth £3 million? - FYI our retail sales value over the past 20 years has been worth in the region of £10-20 million per season (Tops, Training gear & Merchandise), we used to operate in excess of 10 high street retail shops/concessions. Again FYI Rangers Top sales are usually around the 500,000 mark per season - that's why fat Mike wanted a slice in the first place! No - I think it was a necessary deal but not a good one
Like I said - £3m is about 150,000 strips to break even.
I suspect like many of 'The People' on here you appear to be reeking of Barry White!Happy to repeat ad nauseam if folk aren’t understanding

For me £3 million is an absolutely brilliant piece of business!
I'm not sure I agree with your figures but we certainly used to get a net profit of circa £4m-£5m a year on merchandising. I think replica shirt sales, in general, have fallen since that time (back in the 90s) but prices have risen. I'd expect us to still be capable of a net profit on merchandising of at least £5m per annum.
Correct as they are still our retail partner until 2018 as they and the club agreed a new 1 year deal off the back of the early termination the exiting retail deal
It also included a better deal for us
Rangers Megastore 75/25 to us
Sport Direct 50/50
