32 League Games In - Squad Stats So Far

We have known for some time that we need to add goals to the team. With the amount of chances and possession we have most of those stats are an absolute disgrace.

Is it any wonder we are looking at a rebuild again in the summer?
 
How this squad is even in contention for the league is a mystery. Aside from butland and maybe Sterling cos I love him, I wouldn’t be upset at losing any of the rest!

Although for 105million and 250k/week we could have 5 goals and 6 assists from Declan Rice instead....or for 12million and 100k/week two assists from Jorghino!!! Keep it real and perhaps understand Lundstrum's role in our team! He is there to protect the back four, break up play, dominate the ball in between boxes and allow Tavenier to career forward. It's everyone in front of him that is the issue on creativity.

McCoist contributed a lot more than goals, but Boyd never. Remember him being described as like having a goal start but being a man down. There was a reason Walter rarely picked him in Europe or Old Firm games

Dessers pressing means he contributes far more than Boyd in terms of things other than goals. If only he could finish like Boyd

One thing that struck me most was 15 separate league games where we have conceded a goal, almost half the fixtures from being so strong for so long.

Balogun, Jack, Roofe, Danilo and Silva have all featured in approx a dozen league games and that seems more than I initially thought.

Anything else stand out that you didn't think/realise until seeing the numbers above?

Cheers for jumping in with a double negative,

Cifu and Lammers been away since the turn of the year. That pair would make the stats even worse than they are you sadist.

I will rectify the mistake for you bro, a lot of typing for a non typist, Jack's goal changes so much.

The outfield players who were bad on Sunday have played the most games by miles.. run into the ground ?
 
Far too many not chipping in with goals. Central defenders not got enough. Borna and Yilmaz not enough goals or assists Lundstrum not any goals. Lawrence not enough. Cantwell should be on more. Silva not enough. McAusland not enough. Wright not any.

Rabbi Matondo in 600 minutes, or 6 full games and 1 hour into a 7th, has 8 goal contributions.

So 7 games, 5 goals, 3 assists. That's fcukin incredible.

He's been absolutely world class abysmal at that for us this season.
 
Tavs figures are great but a bit of an anomaly as he takes every penalty, free kick and corner just about. If the strikers took the penalties, their figures would be better and same if midfielders and striker shared the free kicks, their goals/assists would be better. That’s no slight on Tav, as he’s great at penalties and has scored some cracking free kicks. But there may be others in team just as good if given the chance.

What’s disappointing to me is the likes of Lundstrum having no goals/assist. Or Goldson/Souttar having 1 goal between them despite loads of corners per game. That’s shocking. Lundstrum or any of our midfielders should be getting about 10 goals a season especially with the amount of possessions we have. Any CH should be hoping for 4,5 6 maybe a season from corners.

But perhaps it shows a problem with our style of play. It’s been commented on here the last couple of days how our midfield and strikers seem so far apart at times (look at Dessers recent pressing against Celtic to find no one else in support as an example). And again our pedestrian progression from back to front as well doesn’t help. We just slowly progress up pitch and allow opposition to get back in shape and defend. Our lack of accurate shooting is another annoyance for me as well.

So many areas we should be improving on.

How many games has Dessers missed because he was either suspended or too fat to play?

I’m sure we said (about five years ago) that, whilst great from tav, is a major issue and one that has to change.

Yet here we are.
 
People see those stats and, despite the importance of the goals and assists, still post stuff on twitter about rather having maurice ross etc than tav. Most in our support dont deserve him.

If he scores the free kick or pen to beat celtic at parkhead, watch the same people salivating over him and the stats.
 
Cantwell is a yellow away from a 1 game suspension
I'm sure if he gets booked against Dundee for example he serves the suspension the game following 14 days from the booking. Could miss the piggery?
 
Only one stat matters to me and that’s who’s champions at end of the season! let’s hope we can pull the finger out

I would say our goalkeeper was more at fault than Tav he has made mistakes in both games but he apparently gets a free pass
 
Play him and hope that continues.

He can be very raw, lose the ball repeatedly and be very frustrating to watch, but his numbers this season have been great in the little time he has had

In all seriousness though, any competent striker would have at least double Dessers numbers from the chances he's had. I'm not talking Haaland level. Just competent.

It's the fact he's missed very few because we don't have better options that's sickening. Particularly when Beale was allowed to spend £10m+ 'upgrading' the forwards.
