Proposals for a new Aberdeen FC stadium on the city's beachfront have been backed by fans in a club survey.
It said more than 6,500 fans responded, with 92% supporting a beach location. Aberdeen FC previously secured permission for a new ground at Kingsford on the city outskirts, where they have already opened training facilities. However talks have since taken place over strengthening links between the city centre and beachfront.
A business case for the development is expected to be discussed by the city council in June.

The survey was issued to about 9,000 season ticket holders and those in the AberDNA membership initiative as well as being posted on social media. Participants were asked if they supported the beach location and why. The club said among the main reasons given by fans were keeping the stadium in the city and close to its original home.

Commercial director Rob Wicks said: "Inevitably, the long and arduous process of finding a new home for the club has again raised questions over why we can't stay at Pittodrie and why we are now considering the beach after spending considerable time and money on Kingsford." It comes after Aberdeen FC's plans for a new £50m 20,000-seater stadium proposed for Kingsford, near Westhill, were given a legal go-ahead in March 2019. However, campaigners claimed the site was an incursion into green belt land, and alternatives were available

It would make much more sense to develop along beach area, that golf course / old pub across from the stadium and up towards the ballroom, there is surely plenty space to fit in stadium

by the time they decide on it they will be a highland league side needing just enough seats for the subs benches and no more

hope they build a decent stadium in the city itself. Would be good to have another decent stadium in the league. Only hearts, hibs and kilie have half decent stadiums at the moment .

i'd much rather they just were not in our league anymore

Maybe because as a team they are all washed up.

Part of a full redevelopment of that area is it not? Will likely get a fair chunk of our tax paying money thrown at it as the £50m is the cost for their old plans

They don't need a fancy new stadium of any decent size - they've regressed so much as a club it's unreal. I think it's safe to say that Aberdeen aren't getting a new stadium and if they do, it probably won't be theirs for long.

They never were a big club.

Given the behavior of their fanbase, their opinions are of no consequence anyway.

I’ve never heard a club bleat on about a new stadium as much as them. Seems to have been getting banded about since the early 2000’s.

Wee bit of advice from the big man:

Don’t Build Your House On The Sandy Land
Don’t Build It Too Near The Shore
Oh It Might Be Kind Of Nice
But You’ll Have To Do It Twice
And You’ll Have To Build Your House Once More
You Better Build Your House Upon The Rock
And Put A Sure Foundation On The Solid Spot
And Though The Storms May Come And Go
Peace Of God You’ll Know.

I think that looks excellent for them

Definitely this.

I think 50m is a good deal this day and age with stadium build, got a feeling like everything else the price will spiral out of control once construction starts.
Bid low, get the work, then nail the customer on extra unforeseen costs (that actually weren't unforeseen) Sleekit b@stards the construction companies

The problem of them not having the money to build a new decent stadium is not going away. If they are currently being quited £75 million for building one at Kingsford, they presumably will need the same amount for one in the beach area unless their plans are scaled back.

£50m on a new stadium?

If they invested that in the team they’d be challenging for the Championship title at this rate…

As unrealistic as the picture above is. The most unrealistic part for me is, making it a sunny day in Aberdeen. That is ripping the pish.

6,500 responses from the entire fan base. Brilliant! Tinpot wanks
Apparently 9k ST holders when the place is normally empty, fantasy stuff. Glad to hear they are losing fans to Cove, hopefully just leaves the bitter idiots behind in the lower leagues.
