It's the 4-4-2 partnership, that just works.
Got it in one
Tinpot clubs seem to have nailed the back four with a bank of five sitting in front. Any tactically minded bears know the answer in terms of breaking these shitehawks and carthorses down? Can't counter attack a team sitting that deep and if we do get a chance to hit them on the break, our decision making is so poor. When we get a shot off in open play, we've taken that long to set up that there's ten bodies in the way. We play with quite a bit of width which should stretch them but our final balls are that poor they're happy to let us have it out there. No-one running past Alfie from deep and no-one ever attacks the front post so it's a hit n hope into the mixer. Is it lack of quality? Confidence? Or is there a better way we can set up?
What he could do can’t easily be taught , the big man just had something different.Employ Jorg Albertz to teach midfield how to shoot and take free kicks.

4. We shouldn't be conceding goals against teams set up to frustrate us. Our defensive midfielder coupled with the CBs should be able to deal with counters due to opposition not having numbers going forward but somehow we still manage to concede. The midfield aren't providing enough cover and the 2 CBs are on their own at times. We could learn from other teams about fighting for each other, we don't fight for each other IMO.
Stretch them by moving the ball about at speed. These are not new tactics from away teams.
Said the same. Alfies movement would cause them problemsI want to see Alfie in the no10 role with Defoe ahead of him AND the two wingers
Alfie will draw centre halfs to him and then JD can make smart runs.
Seems obvious to me
Get someone who can score from distance
Makes them have to come out and creates spaces
A bit of off the ball movement and a tempo above a snails pace would be a start.
mentally challengeds carried out this exact move today for their winner. The only way to beat teams who park the bus is to get behind them. Our wide men never beat their opponent and turn the defence. We cross the ball from too far out making it easy to defend against. Get to the byline and get more bodies arriving in the box with the defenders facing their own goal.

It means though that someone has to leave the back 10 to block it & the know they can’t just sit in the box and we won’t be able to penetrateIn theory yes, but firing a ball against players willing to throw their bodies in the road can lead to a ricochet and we are caught out (or best case goes for us). I'm certainly not saying never do it, but the chance has to be on as opposed to a blast into a 'wall'.

Celtic manage it. The amount of times we shift from side to side and move the opposition about and dummy shots shows me that there’s scope for long shots.Nope.
The chances of scoring when there are literally dozens of men in front of you rules that out as a easy answer straightaway.

You can’t tell me a midfielder who can take long range shots won’t have a chance
You can’t always pass through though. That’s where the likes of rogic can help, teams know he’s capable from range so they need to cover him tighter which can create space. There’s no one answer but a mix of both our solutions is a good startThen it's not really about long shots as much, then. It's about being able to hold possession in the final fourth of the pitch and having players who can pass it around quickly.

To be fair though we aren’t exactly experts at a long range shot eitherIt's just probe and probe I guess to try and make the space. We saw it on Saturday and last Tuesday anyone unleashing a shot was getting charged down and blocked.

So simple but it can really play a part. Remember when Albertz received the ball centrally and lined up a shot, suddenly 3 guys would sprint towards him to try and block it and he’d often then pass it to the winger who was suddenly in a lot of space. We don’t have enough goal threats from midfield like that, a guy who as a defender you’re afraid will shoot from distance and a centre mid who you’re afraid is about to make a forward run.Get someone who can score from distance
