Lothian and Borders police along the the Procurator Fiscal have done everything to silence this Man, because he has exposed their implicate corruption.

It was reported in the daily record in 1986 or 87 (can't remember which year) that "celtic carried out an investigation and found no evidence of abuse after rumours emerged involving certain allegations, a celtic spokesman said these scurrilous allegations must be buried once and for all"
The celtic view ran this story and the daily record. There was a thread on twitter with the newspaper extracts about it I read a couple of days ago.
For some reason this didn't seem to raise many eyebrows at the time.

The club are still awarding lucrative contracts to Torbett's merchandising firm despite his conviction for assaulting young footballers.
Officials promised to review commercial links with millionaire Torbett - who founded Celtic Boys' Club - after he was jailed five months ago.
But his company, The Trophy Centre, continue to supply official club merchandise, including clothing, scarves and mugs.
One of his victims yesterday bitterly criticised the club for continuing to put money into Torbett's pocket.
James McGrory, now 44, was one of three boys molested by Torbett, who was jailed for two years in November.
Mr McGrory's lawyers have written to Celtic to express his horror.
Solicitor Iain Cochrane said: "Mr McGrory was surprised and distressed to discover Celtic's continuing business relationship.
"This was particularly surprising given the club's public comments at the time of the conviction."
Mr Cochrane said the replies from Parkhead had been high-handed and dismissive and the club refused even to confirm that Torbett's company were still winning contracts.
Company secretary Heather Barton merely insisted the club always acted "in the best interests of supporters".
Torbett, 51, was jailed for molesting three young Celtic Boys' Club players.
Sheriff Margaret Gimblett told him: "These children were football mad with stars in their eyes.
"You knew that and betrayed that trust. There can be no hiding place for people who abuse children."
Torbett's abuse was exposed in a series of award-winning Daily Record articles in August 1996.
He used his position as coach to abuse the boys, including Alan Brazil who went on to play for Scotland.
Records at Companies House, in Edinburgh, reveal Torbett remains a director and principal shareholder of The Trophy Centre.
Staff from the firm supported Torbett during his trial and Sheriff Gimblett revealed that only the testimonials they wrote on his behalf saved him from a longer sentence.
Yesterday, Trophy Centre director Gerry McAleer confirmed the company continued to supply Celtic but claimed not to know Torbett's status with the firm.

And neither am I convinced he was even called as a witness at the trial itself.

How many people actually knew about this at the time? Even if it was just a handful the fact that not one of them had the decency to report it is shocking. The problem with misinformation is that it will be pounced on by those who wish to deflect from the core issue. Therefore, we have to be careful when it comes to accusations.
There is now a vast amount of evidence confirming that key figures inside Celtic knew all about what was going on at the Boys’ Club. We don’t need to rely on quotes that cannot be supported by a citation. I’m not sure Billy McNeill ever appeared at the Torbett trial - if we started to claim that he said ‘it was an open secret’ at the trial I believe it would seriously backfire.

Nobody is suggesting that McNeil didn't know. However, unlike Stein, we cannot prove it ..... yet.
You cannot prove that someone didn't say something unless it was actually heard it or it was recorded. I would love it to be true but I don't think McNeil ever said it was an 'open secret'. One of the parents said that (Daily Record 13/08/1996), not McNeil.
Just because we want it to be true doesn't make it so.
There is still a ton of stuff to come out about this sordid case. My guess is that a lot of the players and managers at Celtic had a good idea about what was going on and turned a blind eye to it. That is supported by some of the quotes in the newspaper articles of the time. I would suspect that very senior management were involved in this abuse as well as in other shady practices and nobody wanted to risk their careers by saying something.
But this is speculation on my part based on what we already know. The hard evidence hasn't come out yet. I think we need to be careful with what we say and how we say it. We don't want the mhanks to get an opportunity to deny and deflect.

Doing the right thing was at the forefront of thought.
Of course the aforementioned Denial Branch CSC turned full circle, abandoned their faux morality and attempted to embark on the kind of "point-scoring exercise" they had previously decried... failing miserably. Well, purely coincidental unless you happen to know that the blog "107Cowgate" is run by disgraced Irish Republican activist Jim Slaven. Presumably The Sun newspaper considers this social misfit and his friends to be credible.

Mr. Mega-Failure also also features on the "107Cowgate" blog. 107 Cowgate just happens to be the birthplace of Irish Republican James Connolly. Purely a coincidence I'm sure. Well, purely coincidental unless you happen to know that the blog "107Cowgate" is run by disgraced Irish Republican activist Jim Slaven. Presumably The Sun newspaper considers this social misfit and his friends to be credible.
Point-scoring? Twisted? Fail Fail Mr. Mega. You are part of the problem. However we thank you for highlighting the differences in decency and morality between our own club and the perpetually and indelibly tainted organisation you support.

I recall at the time Torbett's first trial was reported that this comment from Billy McNeill arose and was entered into a newspaper report.
I have a feeling McNeill was called as a witness, but surely this can easily be cleared up?

The poster you're quoting is me, "Rocket" from not606. That's almost 9 years ago.
I believed back then, like most of us, that McNeil said in court it was an open secret.
I'm older and wiser now. I've searched the internet and visited the Mitchell on two occasions in a desperate attempt to finally put this one to bed.
However, there is not one shred of evidence anywhere to back this up. None.
It is my considered opinion that McNeil never said the words " It was an open secret " in court, or in an interview thereafter.
I stand corrected fellow Bear. I just recalled somewhere in the past I read that he was Jewish. I did not mean to cause offence.

Did anyone ever approach McNeill for a comment or is it just fake news ironically before we understood the term?
I should add...it is impossible to believe that when Big Jock kicked Torbett out of Parkhead by booting him up his arse that it wasn't the talk of the Steamie, or the football equivalent.
As secrets go, I reckon this one was as open as an open thing at an opening.

I have absolutely no doubt that McNeil knew, just as they all did.
It was the worst kept secret in the world.
However, as much as I would love to attribute that quote to their greatest ever Captain, I cannot.
I have no idea if anyone ever actually approached McNeil for a comment, but, again, there doesn't appear to be any hard evidence of this.
What we have is a version of chinese whispers, hearsay and internet rumour. We have no tangible affirmation to back our claims.
