CL qualifying

What round would we enter next year and are we seeded.Saw reports saying we go in at round 2 surely not given our coefficient
This only applies of course if we don't win Europa

All subject to change greatly anyway depending upon the situation with Russian and Ukrainian clubs and our progress in the EL

Entry is based the country co-efficient and before the issue of Russia invading Ukraine it was
Play-off round for the Premiership winners and QR2 for 2nd place however as it stands Group Stage for Premiership winners and QR3 for 2nd place as Russian teams are banned - UEFA still to confirm this

Our own coefficient determines if we are seeded or not in the qualifiers we will be seeded

Of course we can win Europa League and enter the Group Stage and Pot 1 as a result

In the event of not winning the Europa:

Third qualifying round: 2-3 August and 9 August
Play off round: 16-17 August and 23-24 August

That right? Are there any scenarios in which we dodge third qualifying round?

I realise Russia/Ukraine teams may have something to do with this.

Yes that is correct on the dates - we can't dodge QR3 as the Russian situation that has help miss QR2 so long as UEFA confirm it

If Russian teams remain banned then we enter at Q3nc and the Dhims go straight to the groups.

If Russian teams gets back in then we start at Q2nc and the Dhims go to the Play-Off Round.

This graphic from Bet Kassies shows visually that - as things stand at present with Russian teams banned - the Dhims and us have moved up a round. Row 11 for Scottish teams.

Russian teams will not get back in.

Have you been reading the alarmist article in the Daily Record about how woeful a time Hearts and ourselves are going to have?;)

Celtic implode and lose next game and draw the next two, whilst we win all three?

Why would Celtic have to play a qualifier if Russian teams are back in ?

The narrative all season - long before the invasion of Ukraine - has been the Scottish champions would be straight in if the CL winners qualified from their domestic league.

What has happened to change that ?

That happens provided that the Champions League winner this season, had already qualified through their league position

Only Villarreal would scupper a group stage place now

That would be their starting point but yes they would go straight in as it unlikely Villarreal will win CL

The 'narrative' has been wrong. Group stage was never a 'given'. It was, partly, dependant on this years CL winners. You can see from Bert's chart where the Scottish teams have moved from and his rider at the bottom right that this chart is on the basis of Russian teams being excluded. There's also a link at the bottom to how it would be if Russian teams got back in. I have faith that he's got it correct, he's been at this a loooooong time.

As @rangeral says though, if this years CL winners are already qualified via League position the Dhims slot might well change. The first footnote at the bottom of the chart explains that.

EDIT: Scotland is country 11 - * if CL-TH qualifies for CL-GS via league, then Champion of country 11 goes to CL-GS

Just looked at the various leagues and when they enter, these are our potential opponents based on current standings:

Possibly a winner from the second round: Sturm Graz, Fenerbahce, Midjtylland, APOEL (Dynamo Kyiv are seeded here so we wouldn't face them, unsure on the others)

Third round: Benfica (surely to god seeded), Rennes, PSV, Club Brugge.

Bert Kassies will be much clearer than me just browsing Wikipedia in terms of who's going to be seeded, and obviously league places can change, but I don't fear anyone there. Benfica/PSV would be big tests but nothing beyond our ability.

EDIT: The entry here will be out of date but aye, those are the kind of teams we're looking at.

They come straight into QR3 with us

In the unlikely event we don't win the Europa, there's nothing to fear in those qualifiers

We're playing CL group stage football next season either way

(would be incredible to do it via Europa & get pot 1 though)

Just to hijack this a little but am I right in saying the 20,30,40 million that gets quoted for our league winners with the CL group stage is actually split if we have 2 teams in the group stage?
