Club Statement in response to Covid

With this statement and attendant sound bites from our manager it further shifts the lens of culpability for the weekends impromptu gatherings onto the Scottish government. Had they set a credible precedent in the aftermath of the mass violent protests out east and the massing at hampden before and after the delayed Scottish cup final perhaps the majority of law abiding Rangers fans would have been suitably deterred.

Add to this previous gatherings in regard to 8.75 in a row, Black Lives Matter etc which were not roundly condemned nor were there any arrests of the ring leaders and organiser. To that end everyone including Celtic and St Johnstone were afforded the latitude to vent their spleen or indeed celebrate.

That mass violent assaults carried out in the midst of a sizeable media presence were downplayed with those involved facing zero sanction. In such circumstances how can anyone retain an ounce of credibility by going after those fans who exuberantly but peacefully celebrated their clubs magnificent achievement.

Enough with the embarrassing double standards and what would seem like base incompetence by Scotland’s authorities.

I must have missed Fag Ash Lil's statement on Friday given this had a real possibility in happening.

That rancid mob have had a daily party political broadcast and never once mentioned it - Politicised pish.

Make sure your vote counts bears.

If the club are sensible, they’ll reiterate this before Trophy day and explain that they’re happy to discuss the matter well in advance with the local council.

Brilliant statement. Kills the lie that it was nippy who started the conversation. It was us and now they want to throw us under the bus. Again. SNP GIRUY.

Club absolutely nailing the hypocrites there.

We all knew there would be Bears out on the streets. But the politicians and police prepared for nothing except their moment in front of the camera to express their faux outrage.

Just like they said nothing for 5 weeks before Celtic’s trip to Dubai. We all knew they were going, but Sturgeon, Swinney et al said nothing... until they saw which way the tide was going and then they popped up on our screens.

Swinney slating us just now, didn't to enough to prevent the celebrations on Sunday, poor leadership by Rangers he says.

No mention in the statement of discussions with the club's MSP - did they forget that meeting?

A decent statement for once,

Crankie, Usless and Swindler should worry about their own mess and stop using us to deflect from the fact they can’t lie strait in bed. Biggest shower of usless crooks that have ever been given any sort of power or responsibility.

The club have been slandered by SNP. As a club we can’t control what fans choose to do outwith the football stadium. It’s ridiculous. They reported on sky sports news that the club constantly played messages over the tannoy asking fans to go home. What more are they meant to do. Our fans have been through so much pain and they just wanted to celebrate. The club cannot be criticised for this. People are old enough to decide for themselves

There are too many people on Twitter that think that the world is on Twitter. You see it on many things and this is the latest example. If the club had tweeted I imagine many would have not seen it or paid it any regards. No one hates us today that didn’t already before Saturday.

We could have released a statement saying we were unprepared as we couldn’t realistically expect the tims to drop more points making this the earliest league win in history.

Bang on mate. Twitter is more of a platform for hate than anything else, mostly by people who wouldn't dare say it to anyone face to face.

Let's be brutally honest , the SNP government knew the likely hood of supporters gathering to celebrate when ever the league was won was going to happen, they are responsible as they govern the country and have the power to use resources wherever and whenever. Blaming the club is the easy way out for them , accountability lies at the Scottish government's doorstep , like has been mentioned regularly there have been mass gatherings previous to this weekend and sweet f@ck all was said or done during and after those gatherings, its shite governance pure and simple.

Nice to see SG using the word “try”.

I did try. And failed.

Bring on trophy day.

Well said Rangers!

May I suggest that some people don't have a very good memory so therefore it is worth reminding them regularly of what the Club has done.

The main reason the SNP and media are no happy is that there was no violence or major damage caused.
They would have been praying for it.

Good statement.

My view is:
Rangers fans took to the streets in celebration of their club with no malice

Celtic fans took to the streets in anger at their club with threats to staff and players

I am happy to be corrected here.

As far as I can recall, there was no statement or acknowledgement by Sturgeon on the 50th anniversary of the Ibrox Disaster on 2nd January 2021. That a Scottish First Minister fails to recognise and pay tribute to the 66 citizens killed and to their surviving families, in one of the worst disasters in 20th century Scotland's history, is absolutely unprecedented, appalling and downright disgraceful for the highest minister in the land.

Yet Sturgeon and her SNP cronies seem able to pass critical judgement 'quickly with ease' on a crowd of Rangers fans who gather together outsde Ibrox (covid situation rules accepted) to celebrate winning a League trophy for the first time in 10 years after what the club has been through: no help from government either.

There is just something so wrong here in the way these two events, occurring within a couple of months of each other, have been handled so differently. The common denominator is prejudice towards Rangers and their fans by the SNP.

That’s how you stick it to scum bags who don’t enter into meaningful dialogue but instead use that time to get likes on social media about one part of society and not others.

Good on the club.
