PR wise it would have been excellent for the people on the board as nobody would have blamed them for past indiscretions, may even have looked good on current day Celtic as they would be fronting up to their past.

But no just like all those before them they try and sweep under the carpet, despite the ever growing evidence they continue to make the victims and their families wait, continue to make them relive what happened under their command and not allow them to try and move on.

The stance the current board has took has damaged them with PR and it should cost them a lot more financially than if the spoke to lawyers of victims. If this was the current Rangers regime acting like this I would be finished with football.

See if they did the right thing right now, opened up to the lot, apologised and vowed to work with the victims to ensure they reach closure, I'd happily applaud them.

But they're still rotten, and their further cover up attempts indicate they are not sorry and don't care. So they need sanctioned.

It's absolutely tragic what happened. Makes you sick.

No-one is accusing anyone currently involved at Celtc of paedophilia, as far as I am aware. If they accepted that this was a rotten part of their history and did what they could to rectify this tragedy then I could respect that.

In the 70's and 80's at least, nobody would have been able to distinguish between CFC and CBC in the glowing media reports of players like McStay etc. It was very much portrayed that CBC was a conveyor belt of talent designed to supply CFC with the cream of young players. All of this squirming and denial of the link between the two entities is just embarrassing

Exactly. It was a previous board and previous management and the right thing would be to acknowledge that. So why the wall of silence? Why the futile attempts at denial? Could it be that there are some powerful figures who would be implicated by a proper inquiry?

Never has a line in poetry been so apt when referring to the way they are scuttling about right now. They have lost track of their lies and continue to lie about their lies. They are reprehensible in the extreme, and they deserve to be closed down for their actions AND the cover up of the cover up.
 
The police uncovered the paedophile ring after Strachan, a maintenance engineer for a paint firm and formerly secretary of Celtic Boys Club in Edinburgh, handed his computer in for repair. On its hard drive, a repair technician found an image of an 11-year-old boy abusing himself.
A further 7,000 child porn images were found.......from 2009......Bheasts in the east as well as the west.
 
If ''Separate Entity'' is the best they can come up with, after years of trying to bury this, then they are well and truly fecked.
 
Through their reprehensible actions, their current board have implicated themselves in a cover up of a cover up. The opportunity for them to deal with it in an appropriate manner has long since past. Any subsequent apology would be so meaningless as to add further to the untold injury of the victims, whose suffering they have prolonged. They must receive the harshest sanctions possible.

Personally for me that time has past. The second they used the word seperate entity they showed the current regime are just as bad at sweeping under the carpet.

If they opened up fully and accepted responsibility when it became obvious to everyone that Celtic had known about these men then I would have applauded them.

Anybody doubting that the shit was going to hit the fan for Bheast FC ... well it just has.

That looks like a cover up to me (at worst) and (at best) the bullet from the smoking gun for them. They can't wash their hands of this now and a full independent enquiry should be called immediately - their "open secret" is now out in the open for all to see.
 
For what its worth I have a friend here in the States that does legal representation for organizations in liability cases. He told me that this is the part where he pulls his client into a room and tells them get out the check book.

Yeah. The longer this goes on the more expensive it may end up being.

I think Celtic are gambling that it is going to blow over.
 
Unfortunately we as rangers supporters cannot do to much about this unless the families of the victims come out with some petition of sorts where we can unite with them .
But as human beings I urge you all on Monday morning at 9am we stand fast together and contact firstly Glasgow City Council as this business is in there jurisdiction and they should be doing the right by ugently ordering an enquiry, contact your local mp,scottish parliament, Nicola sturgeon,medhia ,sfa,spl and scottish police and ask what are they going to do ,multitude in numbers is a powerful weapon and the squeaky wheel gets all the oil I beseech all rangers supporters, fans and thier friends and families to do this as the timing is now right as they are no going back for this evil institution.

Well, if Torbett was kicked out in 1974 by Jock Stein, how could the club claim no knowledge.

Hugh Birt at the trial stated when he became President of the Celtic Boys Club in 1974, Celtic legend Jock Stein told him he had kicked Torbett out the door. He said the matter was all covered up as to why Torbett was put out.
Mr Birt said that when Torbett returned to the boys club a few years later as a fund raiser the allegations about him started up again.
He claimed he took them to Mr Stein and told Celtic vice Chairman Kevin Kelly about them but nothing was done.
Mr Birt said when he became president of the Celtic Boys Club in 1974 the first thing Mr Stein said to him was to “ keep the image of club clean”.
 
Right i need someone to get me a tube video and put it on here it's UK Column News 17th may 2019 and if possible start it at 29 mins in don't know who's these guys are but this is what reporting scotland and scotland today should be doing it's very interesting.

What I'm saying is that a copy of him saying it doesn't exist.

I've hunted the Mitchell and even tried to get hold of the court transcripts.

I know plenty of people on here will tell you he said it, but there is no record of it in the public domain.

I think it was one of the parents that said it and not McNeil.

I think it fair to say that they all suspected that nasty things were happening but nobody wanted to open that can of worms.

You mean, for instance, a director up to March 1992? Not implicated, but with knowledge?

I have checked two article from Scotland on Sunday for that date and cannot find it. Not saying you are wrong but would love to have a copy of the article.

I've no idea if he said it or not, but many on here are convinced he said it under oath. Some will even tell you the date and what publication it appeared in.

However, after an exhaustive search through the archives of the Mitchell library it was nowhere to be found.
