Gilmour has covid - out of Croatia game

There's absolutely no chance - none - that Gilmour didn't have at least equivalent closeness and contact after the match with members of his own squad as he did with the England players now isolating. It's utterly ludicrous for anyone to suggest otherwise.
FFS, how hard is it to understand.
The England 2 are isolating by choice, not by requirement

It's a bit of a mess and very much a domino effect. One player comes in contact with another couple of players and then who do they come into contact with?

Absolutely stupidity when you have 22+ players all coming into contact with each other during games.

Yeh, like they didn't go into the dressing room and hug/high five and the rest plus everything else ( like doing a conga )

It's almost like nippy is in charge.

There seems to be a competition between her and the sfa to see how ludicrous a story they can put out and be believed.

Anyone noticed Clarke was a bit too upbeat about "Someone else having the chance to come in and be the national hero"?

Almost as if he fuckin hates the boy.

It was public health England that made the decision that there was no close contacts for Gilmour

So we have a situation where it would appear that England have more regard and a duty of care towards their players than Scotland have towards theirs.

Or maybe Scotland are not wanting to confirm the absences yet to allow Croatia to plan. It could be basic football reasons.

What it does do is put pressure and tge onus on the SFA to take some action the genie is already out the bottle with the video that Robertson deleted ot won't look good if they play then Robertson returns a positive test days later

Behind the couch loyal out in full force tonight.

Farcical that a professional athlete in their 20s would need to isolate after coming into contact with another professional athlete who has asymptomaticly tested positive.
Who else is having to isolate?

This constant testing of healthy individuals with statically as much chance of dying falling off a ladder will kill this country quicker than a not particularly deadly virus. It’s almost as if the continual messages asking people to get tested is to create cases to keep us under restrictions. So sorry for Gilmour missing out- sizeable blow to our chances but he’ll be a mainstay for years to come!!

I think this mischief making by England. 'Look, two of our players are self-isolating after close contact with Gilmour (but no other Scottish players are)'
100% and I’d be suprised if croatia don’t kick up a fuss in next 24 hours. I can see the Scotland team on Tuesday being similar to a reserve team with a good few out

Couple of English players are staying away from the group for a couple of days but that’s through choice.
No its in consultation with Public Health England pending further investigations. Thats a direct quote from England.

Whatever Scotland told Public Health England, is their own business to decide on.

Most likely thats just initial proof of safe seating on a bus and for meetings and meals plus separate bedrooms. Theres nothing else Public Health would ask for.

Post match footage and the deleted table tennis video are public domain and a major problem. That’s now escalating with the Mount / Chilwell development.

Aye I know that. Think it was the bit about catching it off another professional and assumed that you’d heard another had been told to isolate.

There's some massive decisions ahead for PHE, FA, UEFA and SFA. It is in no way credible that Gilmour hasn't been what PHE consider as a close contact with probably most of the squad and coaching staff. But I don't think there's any appetite for what would effectively ruin the tournament by insisting on mass-isolation of squads. There's bound to be other teams who will have positive cases in the coming days.

PHE definition of a close contact:

  • anyone who has had any of the following types of contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19:
    • face-to-face contact including being coughed on or having a face-to-face conversation within one metre
    • been within one metre for one minute or longer without face-to-face contact
    • been within 2 metres of someone for more than 15 minutes (either as a one-off contact, or added up together over one day)

This notion doesn’t make sense. Either PHE have dictated that no other players need to isolate or not. The decision by England seems bonkers.

If PHE didn’t tell them to have those players isolate then it’s very strange to do so, even on a “belt and braces” basis.

Maybe they were told that technically they didn’t have to but based on the aftermatch contact it’d be a good idea? But in that case you’d have to assume the same would apply to umpteen Scotland players and staff and they’d have got similar advice.

All round bizarre choice by Southgate/The FA.

Steve Clarke has definitely had the first one then.

So, are the stormtroopers at the border to prevent this Covid ridden squad entering der farterl... eh, Scotland?
I'm pretty sure something would have been said if it was an English squad.

Just saw this thread and the news that Gilmour is out, how brilliantly Scottish B-D

It’s in consultation with PHE but the FA themselves say it’s a “precaution at this time” Southgate also said it’s possible they both could be available for the game tomorrow.

Yes it is nuts, you are far more likely to get covid in a closed room like a changing room that you are out in the open air like a pitch.

I find it hard to believe that Gilmour wasn't in close contact with anyone on Saturday or Sunday.

He must have been in close contact with someone otherwise how did he catch it?

Will this be known as the Wembley variant?

There's almost a media blackout on this story. Very odd - hardly anything on Twitter and even Sky sports aren't reporting much on it. Slightly worrying.
