Simple as that .The guy was absolutely world class. A sensational footballer.
He could probably still play to a fairly decent standardGio was apparently finished when playing at that World Cup. Shame he didn't get that memo because he was sublime all the way through it.
Nigh on impossible after he dived unless he was some mental contortionist.Incredible goal but mental that the keeper doesn’t go with his left hand.
Same here, after Sturm Graz at home then that 1 nil win away to Monaco I thought that was the year! When I think of Gio in a Rangers jersey, I always think of his goal away to Monaco! But that one for The Netherlands is outstanding!
Incredible goal but mental that the keeper doesn’t go with his left hand.
I know, we looked brilliant, and then some how it all fell apart!Same here, after Sturm Graz at home then that 1 nil win away to Monaco I thought that was the year!
Me too ,I thought we were on at something that yearSame here, after Sturm Graz at home then that 1 nil win away to Monaco I thought that was the year!
Definitely.I know, we looked brilliant, and then some how it all fell apart!
Looking back, that team underachieved in Europe.
Players in the wall would have been thankful that hit the back of the net instead of them!
'Oan yersel wee man'
whatever that is in Dutch!!
Says he also scored one of the goals of Euro 2008.Is Clive saying 'scores one of the great goals of Euro 2008' an eff up (given this was the World Cup), or is he referring to another Gio worldie?
I was going to post this.
Why.Incredible goal but mental that the keeper doesn’t go with his left hand.
I was only 1, so didn’t see it live. Loved Bergkamp though.Love Gio, but…. This is definitely the goal
Why.
Shouldn’t go across your body with your arm..left arm for shots to your left, and right arm for those to your right - obviously get more reach as it’s ‘stretching’ far less of a distance in comparison.
Hold your left arm to your left, and now see if you can get to the same spot with your right…it’ll be a foot shorter.
Not saying he would’ve saved it, but it’s poor goalkeeping all the same.

Bern trying to find it, only goal he scored that tournament was the third v Italy (2.30 in video below) which was a great counter attack:
Yeah, didn't think it was either but unless my Internet skills are really bad, I am sure it is the only goal he scored at Euro 2008Yeah i saw that one as well...I doubt that's the one that Clive was talking about
How high and wide can you get your left arm to the left compared to your right arm getting over to the left? How quickly can you move your feet to get in position for the jump (is the ball traveling too fast to get in position to use the same side hand)? How strong is your left compared to the right hand? There are a good few reasons to use a top hand save instead of bottom hand.Shouldn’t go across your body with your arm..left arm for shots to your left, and right arm for those to your right - obviously get more reach as it’s ‘stretching’ far less of a distance in comparison.

Or Vanoli v DundeeNot dissimilar to Numan vs the Manky Mob.
Always loved this strike. Unstoppable. Love a bit of anger in a strike.
That is the goal that first came to my mind because for a few seconds i never thought it was in then........f.uckin hell he's scored. When I think of Gio in a Rangers jersey, I always think of his goal away to Monaco! But that one for The Netherlands is outstanding!
Love it noucamp! That is the goal that first came to my mind because for a few seconds i never thought it was in then........f.uckin hell he's scored.
Yep. Simple as that.Simple as that .
I remember stating when he was appointed as manager that we’d actually managed to get a man with a better footballing pedigree. The guy was absolutely world class. A sensational footballer.
A norm under Advocaat.I know, we looked brilliant, and then some how it all fell apart!
Looking back, that team underachieved in Europe.
Was that the game he made a comeback after months out?
Is that Tommy McLean or Jim doing the co-commentary there?
