I still genuinely have no idea why saying f*ck the pope is deemed "sectarian". I really wish someone would just question the people who have a problem with it, ask them to explain what the issue is. The answer "it's sectarian" isn't a proper answer.

There's probably a better argument than this one but apply the same logic to David Miscavige as the current head of the church of scientology. Would someone be allowed to say the same thing about him?

What makes the pope any more special than him as the head of a religious institution?

This is just nonsense. There is nothing illegal or sectarian about saying %^*& the pope whatsoever. I challenge any of these folk who are displaying faux outrage over it to report it to the police. Nothing will happen because the pope is rightly fair game.

The outrage over this from some is akin to that of antifa, which is ironic as locking people up for saying ‘%^*& the pope’ Is tantamount to fascism. Is the pope above criticism now? Are we not allowed to express dislike for him?

What’s also ironic is the same people who are so worried about the pope are also moral crusaders when it comes to women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, anti racism, anti establishment and so on.

The pope is the antithesis to every single one of those things!

I did. I had an argument on twitter with a few folk I went to school with who had no stake in the rangers Celtic thing. I said all of that and included the fact that he is fair game due to his status the same way the queen is and also included crimes of the Catholic Church and previous popes as reason why he should be fair game and this shouldn’t be deemed sectarian.

However, they just decided that because I’m a rangers fan it must be sectarianism. Despite the fact I’m a vocal atheist and these people knew that.

As fucking usual bigotry is a one way street in Scotland, sing ira songs you will be fine, sing ftp and that nil by mouth bigoted fuckwit crawls for under his rock condemning everything and anything,I fucking hate this country at times

When are people ever going to learn about posting things to social media.
Had this out with a couple of guys in Sally's bar Vienna on Wednesday night. Sash bash going full swing, whole repertoire and eejits filming it. Next thing its online and bears are fearing for their jobs. Stick your camera phones in your pocket and join in, don't be a fanny and film it.

Can someone explain to me how F**k the pope is sectarian?

But F**k the Queen is perfectly acceptable?

He's a protected species, actually like all global religious leaders.

It's amazing these 'men of faith' are held in such reverence by 21st century societies, they may be educated men but so was Charles Manson, i guess his murderous cult was just a bit too small.

Do these idiot who pen this crap have any inkling of what happened in the days and years after October 31st 1517....

How is saying that to the leader of the worlds largest paedophile ring sectarian?
Correct. If anyone needs fucking it’s the head of that vile organisation. I have plenty of mates in England christened catholic’s that feel the same. Huge difference from the bitter shower I had to put up with when I was a kid in Glasgow. They actually think trying to avoid tax is worse than child sexual abuse as to not slur their filthy football club. The lot of them are either naive or complicit. FTP will not be frowned upon in future. People won’t believe what was covered up by this lot

This is Scotland 2018 where sending the English home warms yer heart but if they’re Irish you’re bordering on joining the KKK and shaving your head.

Found this old thread by accident.

Did Humza or Dornan have anything to say about this?

Did the police investigate this?

Or did nobody care because it was (allegedly/apparently) Inverness player(s)?

Some diddy posted film on line...........and NBM wheeled out as usual

https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/ne...-thistle-sectarian-players-coach-video-chant/

A VIDEO has surfaced online showing Inverness Caledonian Thistle players singing on a boozy bus ride - as somebody appears to chant "f**k the Pope."

The clip, which was taken from player Nathan Austin's Instagram stories, surfaced on social media earlier today.

The video appears to show players wearing club shirts as they sing along to Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline.

And as the chorus hits, somebody appears to chant the sectarian slur.

The video was uploaded on to Austin's Instagram stories with the caption across the screen saying "Aberdeen... away."

The clip then appeared on a Twitter user's feed but has since been deleted

And the boss at Scotland's leading anti-sectarianism charity has condemned the video - calling for a club probe.

Dave Scott, Director of Nil by Mouth, said: "What an utterly dismal way to behave.

"The club now need to investigate this and take action to address this person’s attitudes immediately - regardless of who the player or official is and their level of importance to the team."
It’s not sectarian, I hate the pope because he heads the worlds biggest pedofile ring NOT because he’s catholic.

How can one possibly show disrespect to the head of a church which has beaten, abused, murdered, disposed of bodies and raped it's adherents on an industrial scale - and then participated in covers up for it all - for as long as anybody can remember?

To be honest, is not being a fan of the pope really sectarian?

%^*& the queen and the monarchy is ok, although they've done nothing but good for the country, but to show dislike of the pope, is 'sectarian', and people must completely disregard their downright evil behaviour over many many years because they believe in imaginary sky fairies?

The Pope is also the political Head of State of a country, no different to Boris or Biden. I don't think, however, that defence would be accepted in a Glasgow Court, tbh.

Seems like if you're a Protestant and you say FTP you're a foul bigot, but if you're an atheist or a socialist type and say FTP and you'll be back-slapped by your comrades.

It’s arguable if the monarchy has done nothing but good - sure there are examples of royal family being poorly behaved.

that said, I don’t have support for the monarchy or the papacy and find neither view of ftp or ftq as problematic.

everyone is entitled to an opinion, my issue would be if the person saying ftp/ftq doesn’t know why they say it and I don’t get why either is said at football

When did it become the law to respect, or like, the office of the leader of a religion that certain people will not be going to heaven?

It's a great find and AGAIN highlights the very real double standards, no player was told they should be fired, no call for the police and this was a REAL video. Whole episode is sickening and as much as it's sent to sidetrack us fans from a fucking outrageously great season and summer of fun ahead, it's the players I feel for being dragged into bigoted nonsense from the Justice Minister, and Police Scotland. Utter detestable scum... Same goes for anyone reading this that voted for them, scum

Nothing but a witch hunt against Rangers to deflect from Celtics absolute failures. They have a history of doing MUCH MUCH worse, but that's no allowed to be mentioned.

Why bump a post from years ago?

What is it about FTP that is sectarian? Is it the swearing? Is screw the pope bigoted? What about “I do not recognise the infallibility of the pope”?

Saying f*** Catholics is sectarian, or f*** the Irish. Why is insulting an unelected medieval bishop bigoted?

And yes lurkers, the same applies to FTQ.
