Non Rangers 2022 Summer Transfer Thread

He did score against us scored a penalty in the league cup final in 2009.

Presuming he's Fernandinho's replacement but also looks like a signing to boost their homegrown quota.
more likely is but I'd expect him to play a decent amount of games, certainly in the league

Sven Botman from Lille to Newcastle, £39M deal agreed according to SSN. Amazing the figures they get from ligue 1. Frustratingly so.

Edit: £35M*

Bizarre how clubs always accept lower fees from City.
When have City paid lower fees?

I think £45m for Philips is overpayment, same with Grealish and they didn’t get Kane because they were priced out by Spurs.

Do they really offer lower fees?

Haaland was £51 mil due to a release clause.

They've spent about £300 million on full backs, £40 mil on Ake, £45 million on Phillips and £100 million on Grealish.

45 for a midfielder who’s 26 , england starter , ticks english quota , plays a specialist position ‍♂️

Wonder who'll go for this lad said to be a available for €5m had brilliant numbers last season ,is Dutch and has a cracking name to boot maybe an aribo replacement
I suggested him for us at the start of last season. Hes now went on to put in incredible numbers and is now out of our price range lol

Scored against us at the piggery in a 3-0 defeat during 2005/6 season.

I hate Manchester City.
A cancer on football

I have developed a very big dislike for them. Don’t mind Pep but the club, the fact their support are shit and don’t sell out despite the players and trophies they win boils my piss

Hate to say it but that lot are getting their business done early

They needed a left back - signed that arentine guy
Signed Carter vickers and jota permanent
Linked to Souza on loan - he looks a talent so let’s hope not
Got a decent back up to hart

We need to get a move on

This is where the narrative doesn't match reality for me.

They signed CCV permanent, we re-signed Goldson and brought in Souttar. In what world can that be perceived as them strengthening whilst we stand still, which is constantly being peddled on here?

Have Jota and the LB actually even signed and been announced yet? Not as far as I know. If Kent were to extend and Bassey stay (this boy would have to be outstanding to be better than Bassey) then it is the same as above, they aren't moving ahead of us.

If you look at the first post of our transfer thread we are linked to about 15 players but just like Souza it doesn't mean we are actually going to get them. If reports are accurate then we've actually bid for Colak, a position we badly need to strengthen in, and are marked with an interest in other attacking players. Again I don't see how they are somehow being more proactive than we are.

As for them signing a decent back up goalie, as much as I didn't agree with it at the time, there is no difference between that and McGregor extending another season in terms of the support role and I'd go as far as to argue JM is a better overall fit for our style of play and will be an improvement in that area. We are doing business. Just because we aren't splashing millions on multiple players doesn't mean we aren't doing business early as you put it.

Did the young argentine not fly in yesterday to sign?

Absolute pish and saying that just keeps up this media narrative about how wonderful they are.

We need about 2 or 3 first team players and will be stronger than them in every position, stay patient.

He did, and he more than likely will sign but it hasn't been announced yet as far as I can see. It's actually a good example of the mindset/perception of their portrayal in the media and PR in comparison to ours and the reactions it causes within the respective fanbases. For example, could you just imagine what this place would be like right now if we knew a player we were after had arrived yesterday but hadn't been announced yet? It'd be absolute carnage and all sorts of deal is off/failed a medical/ changed his mind and is signing for so and so rumours would be flying about followed by the usual knives going into the backs of Wilson and the board until the scarf is over their head. Don't go on their boards tbh but I doubt anything like that is going on just now. We are the most impatient, bipolar support on the planet when it comes to things like this. :)
