1877 - Vale of Leven 1 Rangers 1 (McDougall OG) - Scottish Cup Final (Played At Hamilton Crescent,Partick) (12,000)
Rangers first ever appearance in the Scottish Cup final came just five years after their formation, a remarkable achievement. They had been helped by the draw throughout the competition, being on the receiving end of two byes (in the third round and semi-final) and were similarly fortunate in the final, McDougall scoring an own goal. A crowd of 12,000 (although this is sometimes given as 10,000) was a record figure, indicative of the growing popularity of Rangers within the game. Despite Vale of Leven having been made favourites to win, Rangers more than matched them on the day and fully earned their replay

After an initial struggle to win over the Rangers support, he became an integeral part of the Rangers side of the 1970's that won two domestic trebles. He left Ibrox in 1981, having made a total of 500 appearances for the Rangers, scoring 92 goals and was a member of the side that won the European Cup-Winners Cup in 1972

What was always going to be a difficult cup-tie for Rangers was turned into something of a farce when three Rangers players,Mark Walters,Terry Hurlock and Mark Hateley were sent off,all for retaliation
1993 - Rangers 2 (Durrant,Nisbet) Club Brugge KV 1 - European Champions' League Group A (42,731)
After a some what lucky start in the mini league, Rangers had grown in stature with each passing game and Group A was effectively building up into a two-horse race between them and the French club Marseille. Rangers' victory over Brugge killed any chance the Belgians had of reaching the final and kept the pressure on Marseille, who won 6-0 against the Russians CSKA Moscow. Rangers' next match, away to Marseille, was going to be vital
