1879 - Rangers 1 (Opp. OG) Parkgrove 1 - Friendly
1884 - Rangers 0 Third Lanark RV 0 - Scottish Cup 2nd Round Replay (7,000)
Third Lanark's protest to the Scottish Football Association following the two clubs' first meeting (Third Lanark had protested that Rangers had included a player who was not a member of the club and who was also a professional) created considerable ill-feeling between the sides for the replay. As such, there were a number of running feuds throughout the game, one of which exploded into a brawl. Rangers were also sailing close to the wind again, for their line-up also included Archie Steel of Bolton Wanderers, who was not a member of the club and obviously a professional. The cup rules in force at that time allowed both clubs to progress into the third round as two matches had failed to seperate them and when the draw was made,Rangers found themselves facing Third Lanark.
