PL to consider a festive shutdown on Monday - update - they will fulfill fixtures (13 players and a GK required)

I will be (maybe selfishly) gutted if the fixtures are axed over the festive period. This year is the first boxing day in about 13 years where I have been at home in Glasgow and/or been off work. Was looking forward to it all, with a bit of time off.

Not a joke, no formal lockdowns and mortality rates one of the best in Europe. There are caviats of course but Sweden aren't killing businesses or running up massive debts.
Thought I read it went a bit tits up myself but there are so many views you can always find one to support either argument.

Remember reading something like that a few months ago.

Work colleague and close friend currently on life support due to covid - maybe you'd like to tell his wife and kids its only a flu you utter imbecile.
I'm sorry to hear that and I sincerely hope that he pulls through, but my position is still the same.

Aside from your friend, the real concern is that a number of vaccines are having a higher mortality rate. A large number of players, nationally are refusing to take vaccines due to health risks.

We’ve turned into a nation of simps, cucks and cowards.

Stay home if you want to but let everyone else live life’s.
I guess the argument to that is say you go down with it yourself and hospitals are too full to help you. Maybe some kind of declaration is needed for stuff like that. Can see arguments for all sides myself.

Just know that I’ve been here, there and everywhere - gigs, boozers, trains and if I came down with it and got in front of someone who had made an effort to avoid it I’d feel a twat myself.

Too much propaganda on all these things, twitter, Facebook, the media and even from NHS Staff. Hard to know who to believe. That tweeter is posting stuff every 5 minutes, he could do with having a day out himself!

Ultimately it's going to come down to personal choice and reflection on how aware we are external to our bubble. I'm late 40's, fit, no underlying health conditions, married with kids and work in an environment whereby I deal, quite closely, with the public. I wear a face mask at all times and comply with it,simply through personal choice.

People die everyday from a myriad of conditions. COVID is a tragedy, but so is failing those that have cancers, leukaemia, tumours, heart conditions who may have a chance to survive being cancelled for treatment. This new strain is spreading like wildfire, but so does an office cold, classroom virus etc. It's clearly not as brutal in majority of people.

The winter flu kills elderly people every year and we didn't blink an eye before. I'm not an anti vaxer, but we need to move forward.

Life needs to go on as normal imo.

No mention of there being no fans allowed. Where you seeing this?

Lots of chat about Boris bringing in a “circuit breaker” (I absolutely hate that term btw) from December 27th/28th for a month.

High chance that involves no large crowds at football stadium given it’s stepping all the way back to the days of indoor entertainment being completely shut, limits on indoor socialising and remote learning for higher education etc.

We just had a full season, why do they keep wanting to cancel games ffs!

I think there is a, not insignificant, number of people who just enjoy witnessing disruption and drama. Most of the time they keep that wish to themselves but sometimes they are so desperate to see the world turned upside down that they let it show through.

As you say, we just had a full BCD season last year without widespread vaccination until Summer 2021 and now with almost everyone vaccinated people in the media are asking for matches to be completely called off again.

It seems that if you have 13 fit players plus a ‘keeper then you must play.

That’s fine for the one game, not when you’re playing twice in a couple of days.

They could have cancelled one round of games to give players a break.

The EPL juggernaut keeps on rollin’…

You are right, all last year *shes going to cancel the season, it will be null and void*

There isn’t any set criteria for how many fit players You need to have, the EPL decide on a case by case basis.

Nobody or anyone I knows family. My brother had 1 day in bed ill that's about it. So you can see why me and many others don't want restrictions. Prick
I was at a friend's funeral, 58 years old no apparent underlying health issues. A victim of covid.

Sorry to hear that mate. I am not a fan of the 'its just a cold' argument. To some it might be, to others its a hospital stay, long term health impact or loss of life. Folk need to be a bit more aware of how this has impacted other. particularly on a fans form when everyone is supposed to be part of the 'rangers family.

Just my opinion.

Taken from The Mail:

The rules on Covid postponements were outlined at the meeting. Clubs have been asked to ensure U21 players, who have the relevant experience, are available for selection in the event of further positive tests to first team players.

And those on the call and in the room have been warned that when they deemed a player unavailable due to injury the league's chief medical officer could investigate.

Clubs were told that no postponements would be permitted where 13 outfield players and one goalkeeper from the squad list are available.

Where fewer than 13 plus one are available, the balance can be met by what have been deemed 'appropriately experienced under 21s', which could include any U21 player who was started a first team match in the current or preceding season for their current club, previous EFL club or any overseas club in first team competition.

In the case of an U21 goalkeeper, they will have been listed on the team sheet for five or more matches in the preceding 12 months.

The filth will be having discussions now about getting the Old Firm fixture postponed.

Until there are signs of a significant raise in the number of people being admitted to hospital because (not with) they have covid, we should be carrying on as normal.

They’ve decided to scrap FA Replays for the 3rd and 4th round in England. Definitely something we should be doing aswell.
