Police Scotland have defended its handling of the old firm game

They can’t stop bottles being thrown to be honest.

There seems to be a real regression of the way people behave in general in recent years.
They can however, police properly and immediately arrest those responsible to set the standard.

In Germany I've seen two separate incidents of people getting slightly out of hand.
One got arrested and carted away to the cells, and another ejected by stewards right off the bat.

The key is to be proactive, sadly something we're not capable of despite cctv everywhere and plenty of cops and stewards about.

People say the stewards are paid a pittance so won’t risk themselves. What’s the police officers excuse ? The football is taking up their time and maybe they can’t be arsed with the arrests / paperwork / delay getting home ?

Oh but that’s their job? But have you seen the calibre of police walking the streets?

Ripping up seats seems to be the celtic boards go to thing, anytime anything happens, that's what they come out with.

I have heard from people at the game that Rangers fans were searched at 3 points on the way into the ground. We don’t need to wonder how many times the home support were searched and therefore from where it is most likely the glass bottles may have originated…
Correct.
The whole thing 100% started with the lobbing glass half bottles into our section.
W e get kept in,so the police should have been focused on moving them out the stadium.
But they didn’t,that’s what caused this, allowing them to hang back and bombard our section.

To fair I wouldn’t fancy his job trying to police the dregs of society. At the end of the day it’s the people who can’t behave that is the main problem
Whilst I don't disagree about the behaviour of much of the public these days, does anyone join the police in one of the most violent countries in Europe thinking it would all be about escorting old ladies across the road...?

The home fans should have been made to leave the stadium not allow them ti congregate and launch stuff at the Gers section. The police caused that
Look the answer to this nonsense is to bar any scum from Ibrox they will do the same unfortunately but that's the price we have to pay.

Imagine the police we see at games abroad being told in the briefing “don’t antagonise any trouble makers, hopefully they’ll be footage and 5 of us can chap their door in 3 months time :))

The stewards may be paid a pittance but they don't hold back when our players try to celebrate in front of our fans at the Scumdome.

Bhoys versus Green Brigade, Tim on Tim,
And therein lies the issue whereby the casual reader will automatically assume that it was rival fans involved.

The cops should be categoric and specific when describing incidents to the media. But hey, it never stops them fingering Rangers fans directly.

Maybe these stories should come with an asterisk appended to the headline to help said casual reader get to the heart of the matter?

Rangers fans = just that.
Football fans = Yahoos.

P.S. I’ve just gubbed a couple of naïveté pills with my lunch.

As long as they act like bouncers to the away team when they score then their job is done at the Knew Camp.

My oldest told me this yesterday he said 3 searches and the turnstiles were a shambles going in.

Did the Police defend themselves or release a statement after the last game at Ibrox?
Quick with the response to any criticism from Rangers but a sheepish silence if they displease the filth or their community.
No doubt their words were written in consultation with Scot Gov.

Does he know what he's doing though?

I don’t have a clue, I was merely responding to people saying he was a tim which is nonsense. I know him in a friend capacity I don’t have a clue what he is like at his job but he is decent guy.

There's no doubt about policing being an issue, but surely you see someone doing something, like say lobbing glass bottles into fans with the potential for serious injury, you arrest that person and deal with it, not let it go and hope to catch them later.

I totally agree. If I was in charge I would have people arrested there and then but it doesn’t seem to be the chosen approach nowadays.

Funding and facilities i would think.

Lack of police, and banging up folk, with not enough facilities to support the need to arrest folk.

Great then they can house the " fire brigade" and " Celtic bhoys" next to each other and let them knock fk out of each other

Just as long as the Police officer wasnt injured eh?

Scum
Nobody should be injured, fans, stewards, police, or anyone else.

This situation will lead to one of 3 things:

- Return of heavier police numbers and a stricter approach, costing the clubs more, resulting in fans being arrested in the stadium, more filming and potential for fans clashing with police in the stands which nobody wants;
- Making it work somehow e.g. netting or similar around away allocations which will allow continued aggro between both sets of fans at the ground.
- No away fans allowed at these fixtures;

You can trace it back to the Hibs support at Hampden

It's open season if you support us
It’s a narrative that has been pushed for years , 100% of all Rangers fans are scum, all other fans are excitable jolly craicsters

If I was friends with a high ranking police officer I'd be inclined to ask the question on some of the decisions his officers made especially in the incidents from yesterday.

I certainly will. It’s always interesting hearing what the strategies are

Fair play for declaring this particular friendship mate.

Don’t know how well you know him and don’t want to be unfair on you, but when you talk to him, can you ask him what he thinks about the bheasts decision to relocate a group of Ultras next to the away section, a group that had been involved in a large scale incident prior to the match and with a reputation for taking liberties with opposing fans when the numbers are favorable?
Did the match commander recognise the obvious increase in risk at the time and what mitigation was put in place.
Will the scums security chief and board be held to account?

Do you think you are going to get a honest answer? Even if he tells his pal the truth it's not getting posted on here. Police will never admit fault. So the poster on here isn't going to stick his pal in. Ironically enough.

I knew a police woman who enjoyed telling stories of how her, and her colleagues enjoyed kicking %^*& out of people for being 'cheeky' then telling superiors they attacked them first. Untrustworthy cunts.

Police are like referees. Never make bad decisions and certainly won’t ever apologise for their regular fuck ups
not even when they are caught lying like after the SC final. and the only time they act quickly is when they are criticised

They might not admit fault but you usually get an answer that shows the reasoning behind issues at a particular event. The police might be far from perfect in this country but having followers rangers all over Europe they certainly aren’t better in many other places I’ve watched football. Leipzig away probably the best I’ve seen

How long have the Rangers players had to run the gauntlet at the piggery , and how much longer. The abuse is getting worse and all that seems to happen is the Polis looking the other way . The tim shouldn't be allowed anywhere near our players and it's only a matter of time before they start throwing bottles .and bricks.....ffs They did it last season to their own.
