7 goals conceded in his last 6 games.

McLaughlin has 2 clean sheets in his last 2 games.

McLaughlin has more clean sheets than McGregor in half the game time this season.

That’s not my opinion.
No but it’s highly selective. In the SPL Greegs has conceded 13 in 13. Jon is 7 in 8. Not that different. BUT Greegs played most of the matches when Goldson was out and we had real issues with our CB pairings. Little surprise therefore that the defence had its problems but then Jon didn’t play in most of these matches. It is also worth pointing out that we’ve only conceded 20 goals in 21 matches, only 3 more than Celtic despite them being 9 points ahead. Our problem this season has been much less conceding goals, poor or otherwise, but not being able to take the lower than usual number of chances we’ve created.

So we just ignore all the goals he conceded in Europe and cup games? Seems fair

Overall this season.

McGregor - Played 19 games, conceded 33 goals and only 4 clean sheets.

McLaughlin - 14 games, conceded 15 goals and 8 clean sheets.

Just home from game. Really don't know what to make of that. At times we were really good. At other times we were poor. We definitely deserved the win but we could have lost that.

Kent and Sakala best for me. Jack second half. Tillman as well but he tired. Thought Wright was tremendous when he came on. Apart from nearly throwing the game at the end. Great run to set up Roofe for the winner.

A win anyway and I saw enough for optimism in the final.

Quality saves? both of which were straight at him? FFS id probably be able to save them.

Goalkeeping is one of the top 3, if not THE top worry. Improving the Central midfield and GK kills a lot of our defensive woes. Chiefly that more often than not the keeper is being beaten by basic attempts on target, they cant sweep balls in behind the defence effectively, they cant command their box at crosses or set pieces and their distribution is poor. If goalkeeper distribution is better less turnovers. If shot stopping is better, less goals conceded, particularly from long range. If more commanding then less goals conceded from set pieces and crosses. Central midfield, and to a lesser extent the full backs, are partially responsible for this. But the GK is the last line of defence in this regard and our goalkeeper is more akin to a sieve rather than a rock when it comes to that.
Our problem this season hasn’t been conceding goals, it’s been scoring them. We’re conceding less than a goal a match in the SPL, only 3 more than Celtic who are 9 points to the good because they are scoring almost a goal a game more than us. And all that despite huge problems at CB without an established pairing for most of the time. And of course, Greegs not Jon played most of the games when Goldson was out.

stop going on. it means nothing. Unless you can show me that the defence played the same in every game or the opposition strikers played the same then those are just statistics that don't mean anything.

Yep only because Greegs played 5 out of the 6 CL matches, a disastrous campaign. If you want more stats then he conceded 18 in 5, Jon 4 in 1. And Greegs played in most of the matches when Connor was out and we had no settled CB pairing.

Did you watch the 7-0 game? He was woeful for quite a few of the goals.

Made that hard for ourselves but happy with the win in the end. Hampden pitch is a total disgrace. Why are we always the Sunday game? Also why can’t games be a week or 2 apart if pitch can’t manage games 2 days in a row!

Thought we learned nothing we didn’t already know today. We need a major fresh up with the starting 11 and subs also.

Beale getting a turn out of a bad situation but the new manager initial bounce can only last for so long. The board and Ross Wilson need to back him and invest in him. Otherwise we won’t be able to progress as a team!

yeah especially since you ignored most of the season :) You can’t compare those averages when one of the keepers hardly played in the hugely disastrous CL campaign. The keepers weren’t the problem!

I sure did, in a bar in Rome - a bloody nightmare. And the rest of the team were woeful for them all.
So he gets a pass for those goals because it was against harder opposition?

What’s your defence for him being almost the worst keeper in the league in the stats?

Or what’s the defence of him in the Hibs and Aberdeen games recently where he is extremely lucky that we got back into the games after he was at fault for 3 of 4 goals?

That was a hard slog. Our defence is a shambles at times and Barasic, Davies and the keeper were absent at their goal. We desperatley need a keeper that can dominate the box. We created very little. Our choices at times were frustrating, failing to play a simple pass and running into trouble. What on earth is going on with Lundstram? We need an overhaul.
Lundstram playing with an injury I'd guess, as we don't have anyone else.

I voted Fashion Jr as MOTM because he caused mayhem all day and never gave them a minutes peace. His replacement with Wright slowed us down a lot and of course Wright losing the ball or giving it away didn't help. If we're going to replace Fashion late in the game then we need something better than Scott Wright!

Conveniently missing the fact his play directly created the goal taht win the game

He does when you try to compare 2 keepers, one of whom wasn’t selected for 5 out of 6 of the most difficult matches. Or when the one who did, also played in most of the matches Goldson missed and we had makeshift CB pairings. I said early in the thread that Greegs best days were behind him but I don’t accept he is responsible for our poorish season when we are creating and scoring so few goals. It’s a team game, the defence, midfield and attack can have their faults but not a keeper. Greegs is no more responsible for our performances than anyone else.

There are lies, damned lies and goalkeeping statistics. Hart has 9 out of 21 clean sheets, does that make him the best keeper in the SPL?

Then had 2 match winning saves in ET. Surprised you thought the goal his fault when his defenders looked like headless chickens. Miovski could have put it anywhere. He's made his mistakes but that wasn't one of them. The back four on the other hand..........

I think they were routine saves tbh. I’d be furious if any of those went in.

Voted Fashion at MotM because he was more consistent throughout the whole game but could easily have been either Ryan. Don't know what's going on with Lundstrum and Kamara looked terrible again.

Eight of McLaughlins came in two games, the only two poor games I’d say he’s had. He had three clean sheets in a row before being left out today.

The sheep forum was wonderful to read last night…absolutely joyous…they detest us with a passion.
However they couldn’t wait to literally have death to their former players from yesterday mentioned by a few brain dead victims and getting the Ibrox disaster also on some of their threads.
They are sub-human scum of the highest order.

Sad really. They have latched on to Rangers being the cause of their own failures and inadequacies - just like the mhanks’ always cheated never defeated mantra unable to accept that responsibility lies at their own door.
