Barisic

Jack
Davis
Kamara

SUBS: wes, Edmundson, Flanagan, Aribo, Arfield, Ojo, Defoe

Barker gets a start again. Works harder than Ojo but, arguably, not as much of a threat. Other than that, as expected.

Really thought he would go for the work rate and pressing ability of Arfield.

Barker is shock

Gerrard said Porto defend narrowly, hence Barker last game and again tonight

It's a positive team, he's expecting us to go at them

People seemed more concerned about our chances against Livingston on Sunday than they do against Porto tonight going by the predictions on this thread!

Just like the first game against them, on paper we should have no chance against a team that's spent about 80 odd million on players the last couple of years but I fancy us to draw or edge it by one goal.
I’m more concerned about Livingston as it’s more important. Still want to win tonight

Is mentally challenged barrier out tonight ? Just seen police escort Porto fans up toward that bit

Facts are if Porto play to their potential, it doesnt matter what we do, they will win.

We need to be on top of our game and hope they have an off night.

A draw would be a good result.

A win an incredible result.
Football, sport, has never really been that simple.
It isn’t played on paper.

My only slight worry is Kamara daydreaming and looking for 10 minutes to control the ball and complete a pass. If he can avoid doing that then I think that’s a great looking line up that will cause them real problems

We need to fly out the traps tonight Rangers,no messing about.Get this mob on the back foot right from the off please.

Barker will be starting because our tactics especially in the wide positions worked well them last time against them.

It is really the one position we have struggled to find a consistent performer

He does seem to play a bit too deep at times in contrast to the Finnish national side where he seems further forward,I’d definitely like to see him more in an attacking sense for us

Seeing Barker start games like this must make Jordan Jones regret his stupidity even more.

Tonight would be ideal for his pace and work rate combined. Still don't have a clue when he is back.

Mon the bears!

I swear this season he’s dropped us in it at least once every game just by being far too nonchalant and unaware of his surroundings. Very good player, but he really needs to cut that out, realise when he’s being closed down and move the ball quicker.

I would say that while people critique "scouting" if familiar and local players are signed it does look like a clear tactical flaw was seen in A: our side B: sides in Europe in particular that has seen us identity both Jones and Barker for what is predominantly speed merchants who offer a lot on quick turn over ball and pinning full backs in.

I would image Barker will play and be told to remain pretty high, occupy a full back and try and get Tav, Morelos and Kent in basically 1 v 1 situations and back them to win them.

I'm surprised that SG picked a team without Aribo, Arfield and Ojo.

I know it's a team picked to play Porto but I'd have them out of the starting eleven on form.

talk about missing the point of what it is he brings and is being instructed to do.
