Thank you for organising this.Rangers Football Club celebrated their World Record 55th League Championship yesterday! For a football club to have come through so much and emerge to again become the Kings of Scottish Football is a remarkable achievement.
The Rangers Support have been with the club all the way and it was to be expected that there would be joyous celebrations to follow. During these celebrations, there appears to have been accidental damage to a small number of memorial benches in George Square. This, whilst clearly unintentional, is not something the Rangers Support would like to have seen done and as a result, we are fundraising to replace these benches as a true and sincere gesture of respect.
If there are any additional funds raised we will donate them to the Anthony Nolan Charity which helps save the lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders. I felt so responsible for yesterday's events and would like to pay in the amount of money I earned typing out this sentence. Thank you Celtic FC.
Nearly £10k of you combine all 3 efforts . Surely that’s enough for three benches
What an idiotic post. And what about the bears fighting with our own last night poet behaviour
I’m not taking sides or blaming anyone for this happening, I look after the benches at our golf club and these are maintained every year, the cheaper ones of say £500 have a life of 6/7 years while the really dear ones 20 but if jumped on they would break no matter what they cost, we replace runners on them when needed and sitting on them can break them if they’re out for years. No I won’t come on. I’m implying a small portion of our support are absolute morons who don’t give a shit about the damage things like this does to the club’s name. Those benches are memorials to people that families loved. Stop making excuses.

Yep, a dangerous step to take.If Rangers accept responsibility for anything a Rangers fan does outside the Stadium, where does it stop?
The club never broke them, the fans did celebrating. So down to the fans to cough up.The club should be offering to pay, I’m not overly keen on the relative silence on this one.
Class, but expected

It would get jumped on mate until it broke or set on fireI have donated and i would like to see a Rangers bench put in George Square in celebration of one the cities football clubs and its achievents and see how long it takes for some scum rat to destroy it.Everybody knows these benches were not damaged on purpose.WATP
Contact the guy who designed the disabled fan shelter at the away end at Killie.I’m not taking sides or blaming anyone for this happening, I look after the benches at our golf club and these are maintained every year, the cheaper ones of say £500 have a life of 6/7 years while the really dear ones 20 but if jumped on they would break no matter what they cost, we replace runners on them when needed and sitting on them can break them if they’re out for years.
If a bench need replaced the plaque is put on a new one at no cost to the family involved but it’s a different bench and not once has a family got upset at a bench being broken and replaced.
I don’t for a second think anyone deliberately smashed these benches up and if you look at the pictures they have broken at the weakest points the joints, no they probably shouldn’t have been dancing on them as they’re not built to hold a 15stone man jumping up and down but the wrong is being sorted and the new benches or repaired benches will end up stronger and have a longer stay on the square.

It literally mentions “kind hearted gers fans”.I see there’s an online story in the scum now saying rangers fans wrecked the benches and 9000 pound has been raised online to replace them, failing to mention its rangers fans who have raised the money. Typical rag shite

The owner of a Rangers supporters pub has launched a fundraiser to repair memorial benches damaged by fans at George Square last night.
The vandalism took place during a chaotic night in the city which saw large groups gathering to celebrate following Rangers league title win.

Now fans have raised over £5,000 to repair the benches after Robert Marshall, who runs The Louden Tavern, organised an appeal which was launched earlier today.
Robert said: "The Rangers support have been with the club all the way and it was to be expected that there would be joyous celebrations to follow.
"During these celebrations, there appears to have been accidental damage to a small number of memorial benches in George Square.
"This, whilst clearly unintentional, is not something the Rangers support would like to have seen done and as a result, we are fundraising to replace these benches as a true and sincere gesture of respect."
Robert says any excess money will be donated to the Anthony Nolan Charity which helps save the lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders.
It comes after Rangers pleaded with supporters to "adhere to government guidelines" after their fans were slammed over coronavirus-breaching title parties in Glasgow yesterday.
A spokesperson for Rangers said while they appreciate this has been a historic year for the club, fans must "stay safe, socially distance and look after each other in this difficult time."
They added that they are aware there is "the possibility of more, significant milestones within this season" and insist they will continue to engage with key stakeholders to maintain a cohesive message in relation to government guidance.

TBF this applies to damaging a memorial for any loved one. So for anyone looking in who may be responsible for damaging any of those benches. You are a mindless lady's front bottom. Great gesture by bears to fund the repair. I'll contribute. But we shouldn't have to.
