Struggling to watch rugby, but one of the few games iv been too was impressed with the supporters getting access to refs mic.

Nah, at most matches you can buy a disposable radio that listens to the mic.

The rules in rugby state that if players question the referees decision then he will punish the team further.
For example if it is a penalty, and the players complain to the ref ,then the ref will move the ball 10 meters further towards the goal of the offending team.
