SFA finally wake up and condemn Kamara abuse

They really are an embarrassing organisation. We know how much they loathe our club and our fans but to deliberately wait so long to make any statement highlights how unfit for purpose the people who run this shambles really are. More interested in getting international games to hampden than the racial abuse of a player for their associations champions. The club who have single handed raised the profile of scotshit football in uefa ratings. They are useless and probably racist themselves.

It is probably unfair to say the SFA have done nothing until now - the line in bold below clearly shows they were immediately in touch with Rangers offering their support - that is important to remember.

At least it shows the authorities here are behind Rangers on this issue even if a public statement was later than expected.

Ian Maxwell, Scottish FA Chief Executive: “The incident involving Glen Kamara at Ibrox last week demonstrates that society and football still has a lot of work to do to eradicate racism.

“Scottish football’s response shows the commitment to change and EDAB exists to be an agency for change, bringing consensus from across the game on all matters of equality and diversity.

After witnessing the scenes last Thursday, we contacted Rangers immediately through our equality team to offer our support and guidance through a range of services and we aim to continue that dialogue with any club directly affected by these issues.

They could have said "Glen Kamara after he received “vile racist abuse” against Slavia Prague.'

Instead they chose 'Glen Kamara after he spoke of receiving “vile racist abuse” against Slavia Prague.'

R. Soles.

They've been shamed into it really. It says it all when Kamara has had outstanding support from many quarters outside (and inside) of Scotland yet it's taken the home association about half a week to speak out, and even then it's hardly a resounding backing is it?

The Scottish FA’s Equality & Diversity Advisory Board has redoubled its efforts to eradicate racism.
At last something tangible will be done, any chance of specifics? What, exactly, will the SFAEDAB, do? Is this just the usual empty words, ,will we see anything more than before, will they double the ineffective and unimaginative charades?
What are you going to do?

Guessing SFA Peter finally got out the confession box long enough to give his man servant Maxwell permission to release this

I would say more likely that going by the another thread they're due to have a meeting with GK's lawyer today and they've panicked and made a statement that they can point to as showing support.
I’d say Glens lawyer probably sent them an angry email or 2 and shamed them into it.

That's just lip-service, box-ticking, the usual charade. 'Support and guidance'? if there ever was a time for comfortable counselling it's long past, "oh, and here's a couple of leaflets, Glen".
How about getting behind Kamara and offering to take this up with UEFA you spineless toadies?

I think the time for the SFA to get involved would be if UEFA rejected any racism took place and somehow managed to find it within themselves to punish Rangers.

With the exception of a few fuds like Michael Stewart, almost all of the country is behind Kamara.

I’ll cut the SFA some slack. They’d clearly emptied the in-tray from Thurs-Mon so they could concentrate fully on preparing some pumped-up charge to hit Alfie with after yesterday’s match.

From an organisation that employs Malky McKay and gives convicted racist Griffiths a game that's exactly the pish kind of statement to be expected.

"Grrrrr. Awww ok then. If we must side with them. But let's make it as low key and as generic as possible so the yahoos aren't all over us like a bad rash"

Scotland today huh?

It's a load of guff really. Very poor from The SFA.

It's like a group of nasal Scottish voices have had a discussion over zoom about "how we have to be shown to be opposed to racism whilst not actively showing support to Rangers".

Words you might expect to find in that article: Unacceptable, tolerated, action.

Action appears twice, in 2 separate quotes.

Wishy washy pish.

If it had happened to a mentally challenged player they would already have a bye into the next round, and wee nikla would still be getting daily airtime out it.

Gang of arseholes the lot of them, and the poets have their grubby tentacles in every department.
