In light of the fact that Scottish weather is so unpredictable, should the powers that be look at
doing away with the winter break / playing more league football in the traditionally less inclement months of the season, giving clubs more scope to reschedule games and not having football overkill December, mid Jan & February.

To get a 3 (ish) week break we have to play 11 matches (26/1 to 26/2) in the worst of the winter months.

Yes it should be scrapped. It would spread the games out, mean more games on Saturday & Sunday, and fewer midweek evening games.

Yes , we may have won the league last 2 years if we didn't have one haha

Yes of course. That was two weekends that coupd have had matches played and possibly one midweek as well. Which would free up dates in the future for the inevitable postponements/replays that need fitted in every year.

Yes.

As we’ve seen, it’s impossible to predict when the weather will hit. In the end all we’ve ended up with is potential fixture congestion. Zero advantage to having it.

Yes. It’s fucking pointless. The weather is unpredictable and we are as likely to get heavy rain and snow in December or February as January.

Also, selfishly, we always seem to hit good form just before it...

Yes. Instead, leave two fixture free weeks in April for postponements. Then when the Met issues the weather warnings like this week, postpone the whole league programme by Friday and move it to one of the free dates in April. Less fixture congestion and better for the fans who won't have to make a pointless journey in shitty weather

If the weather could be predicted with more certainty then it makes more sense.
From a player perspective it gives them a break yes, but then you end up with a condensed fixture list which entirely defeats the point.

I voted yes but really the solution is to have an 18 or 16 team league playing each other twice then you could have a proper winter shutdown and less games and no split.

Yes, what is the point when your end up playing twice every week to fit the games in.

Ideally I would like to see the amount of games reduced

Yes shouldn’t even be up for debate. What’s the point in having a break and then teams having to play 2 games a week straight after it

You can never tell when the weather is going to be bad and the players shouldn't really need a long break.

Yes, along with the split. Ridiculous set up that could have a team finish with more points than one who qualifies for europe.

The winter break is a complete waste of time. At first I liked the idea of our players having a break due to European football, but that's hardly worked in our favour now for two years in a row. In terms of weather, its utterly pointless as the weather is always worse in Feb.

Taking how shite we’ve been out of the equation, to take a three week break then come back to a month of weekend/midweek fixtures is beyond bonkers!

Why should it not be in your opinion?

Because our players need a proper break. Especially with European football and international football every season and more than likely 2 cup finals every season

There’s a reason literally every big club in Europe wants one

They only get a week off before they’re back in training so it’s hardly a proper break.

Yes, I think it should be scrapped, I don't see what benefit it brings. As other have said, the weather is unpredictable so it's not like it negates inclement weather. It also means games are played in a tighter schedule than need be.

It’s really not done us any good the last two seasons so it would be probably helpful if it was abolished.

It’s mental as much as physical. It’s why the English teams take their players away for warm weather training camps when they’ve got a spare week or two after the new year

The only reason people are talking about cancelling it is because we’ve collapsed after it again

IF we have a break. It should be like 10 days just for a break for the players. That’s more
than enough. No need to be fannying about going to Dubai etc wasting money that we don’t have.

There’s as much chance as the weather being shite in March as there is in January.Scrap it

It’s being spoke about today because fixtures are getting postponed due to the weather.

Absolutely, it should be scrapped.

The reason being that we're struggling to fit in an outstanding game as it is, and if tomorrow's game does happen to be postponed then that would another game to fit in.

It's a waste of time if you are still in Europe after Xmas.

Cut it to a week, just give fans New Year off.

Our players certainly used their break well.
