SPL fixtures - 9am Today

To be honest it’s a good run of games for us the first 12. All the so called bigger games at Ibrox. Points need to be stuck on the board early.
I think we'll be a very different animal this year and I'm glad we have them at home first. We have to be utterly ruthless with the rest so that any dubious ref decisions doesn't affect results. Good chance to open a lead

Been saying for weeks our first game would be killie away

They want to give us a tough match against a team also playing in Europe and match fit

Now we just await the dodgy refereeing decisions

Look at December and a potential europa league run and tell me our squad needs trimmed massively

We need 2 players minimum for every position if we are going to challenge on every front
Exactly why talk of loaning McCrorie and jettisoning Docherty is nonsense, we will need warriors and these guys fit the bill.

In the highly unlikely event they are still in the CL, they will have an extra day to prepare. In fact i think they will have all week to prepare!

Was talking about playing Killie at Rugby Park mate.

Last season was the same

2 home 3pm games between August 4th and February 2nd

Mate when do you think our last game will be away to St pats
Firing holidays in for the games am working at the weekends boss is going off his rocker.

A team also playing in Europe, but not with the depth of squad we've got.

Absolutely perfect time to play them.

It's worked out well for us mate.

mentally challengeds already kicking up %^*& saying it makes a tough fixture easier for us.

Their chip on the shoulder has appeared already.

Then they would just moan about having harder games later in the season.
We all play the same teams regardless of order it's up to us to be consistent and win our games do that and well win the league no matter what they do. Also killie away first game isn't as bad as people think new manager might try and play football instead of kicking teams off the park plus they also have a Europa game on the Thursday

Considering our brutal December we need to be at least 4 points ahead of them going into it. Then we will have a good start to 2020 so we can hopefully but some daylight between us and them going into the split.

Posted this in the other thread but posting here too for the hard of understanding who don’t get this every year.

Celtic won the league.

Celtic therefore get the first game at home to unveil the league flag.

Celtic play in Glasgow.

Rangers also play in Glasgow.

Rangers and Celtic aren’t allowed to play at home in the same weekend.

Rangers are therefore automatically away in the first weekend of the season.
Scary that some folk still to this day do not know the basics of the fixtures

We have about 35 players, it still needs trimmed I reckon.

Even through a run like that we will only use about 18 - 20 players. Theres no chance you change your full starting 11 game to game.

It needs trimmed but not massively

We will pick up injuries and suspensions to key players

December was where we really struggled last year and we looked dead on our feet at times

My thoughts on fixtures

Our opening 4 games are Defos harder than there’s

3/4 of the top 6 for us
1/4 for them

First old firm being 3 days after hopefully a Europa game is the big problem but. We saw last year how shattered we were after ufa. No doubt they will play there champs league 2nd leg at home on the Tuesday and we will be away to some remote place on a Thursday. That’s a worry

The rest no real complaints . Win the first 4 and hopefully the new killie manager ain’t as good as the previous one

So basically are first four fixtures are all on Sundays should we progress through the qualifying rounds. Cba

So what would you prefer? That we get knocked out of the Europa? Or we just play Thursday/Saturday with minimal rest?

We always knew the fixtures would land on Sunday as long as we're still in Europe, really don't understand the complaints about it.

Anyone using my unofficial one that's been kicking about for a few years and was always referred to as 'fixtures for iPhone" should see all the announces matches in place now. I'm sure the official one will be up to date soon too.
Just checked, all present and correct. Sterling work, cap doffed.

We have to play everyone at some point, end of the day if we turn up and do our thing we don’t need to worry who the referee is.

Couldn’t give a monkeys about Europe this season tbh.
Especially If getting papped out means we have better rest and preparation for league games.

When do the TV companies publish their first batch of fixture dates?

Don’t think there is ‘a date’ for this in Scotland - the EPL give you a rough estimate of when they will be announced but I don’t think we get that kind of transparency here.

Are people really shitting it from us opening with Kilmarnock away?

C’mon to fuck, if we want to win #55, we need to start going to places like this and routinely swatting these teams aside.

The last time we clinched the league, we put five past the fuckers – that’s the mindset we need to start going to places like Killie with.

Let’s fucking go!

The game against the Filth on August 31st (Round 4) will almost certainly be Sunday as the 4th qualifying round, 2nd leg, for both Champions League and Europa League is the previous midweek. Hopefully they get dumped into the Europa League and have to travel somewhere ridiculous for a Thursday game, as we did last year.

Not shitting it, would've preferred a different opponent on grass.

Not a bad start for us, kind set of fixtures

Up to us to build the momentum and get pressure on them early doors

Killie away
Hibs home
St Mirren away
Celtic home
Livvy home
St Johnstone away
Aberdeen home
Hamilton home

Absolutely no excuses or moaning about those opening 8 fixtures. Anyone moaning about any of that should go and support Hamilton.
A great chance to get a minimum of 20 points on the board. Although the full 24 seem very doable.

Personally it’s more being sick of the sight of them and their shitey death trap of a pitch rather than any kind of ‘fear’ of the team, particularly when they have a new manager who doesn’t know Scottish football at the helm.

That will be 6 times we’ve played them since late January.

That first 5 will do. Killie away first game isn’t brilliant but I suspect they will be an easier proposition early in the season under this new guy given he doesn’t know the league.

always comical on here the day the fixtures get released. I love the way people moan about having to play xxx away on a Tuesday and yyyy first or last. Why do we play at Inverness away the weekend before the EL final.

Every team plays every team home and away. It’s been the same for over a century. If you win more points than your rivals you win the league. It doesn’t matter when you play or where you play.

All true however fixture timings can have a massive impact on building momentum.

Last season we were away to 1st, 2nd and the team who had just played in 2 cup finals, all within our first 4 games. We dropped points in all 3 of them. A team playing 3 of their first 4 away was unprecedented.

Look at the runs after the break as well. We had just beaten the filth to go level on points, but their run immediately after consisted of something like Dundee, St johnstone and Hamilton all at home, allowing them to recover well and build momentum. In the same period we had Kilmarnock, Livingston and Aberdeen away.

Obviously it’s just a case of ensuring we win every game, bu there’s no doubting that the way the fixtures fall can have an impact on momentum.
