Lack of accountability is a major factor in everything these days, We have a government who specialise in it. 70000 excess deaths which can only really be explained by a shambolic response to the pandemic yet we are reaching the stage where they only people who should be made to carry the can and actually do something about it are passing that responsibility on to the victims. Same with Brexit which looks like turning to shit very soon as the EU rolls its eyes and says GTF. Fingers of blame are already being pointed at anyone and everybody to deflect from the real source of the problem. Scottish football has been going that way for years. Those who run the game have ruined it but stay in the job because it is never their fault, its the clubs fault, its the supporters fault, its changes in society, its the weather, its just one fucking excuse after another. In both cases its the people who suffer but the system is stacked against those same people from rising up to take control and fix the problems themselves. We never quite seem to reach the straw that breaks the camel's back and the inadequacies just perpetuate on and on but with different faces making the same excuses. Every time you think 'they've done it now something has to give' but it doesnt. They just carry on and things get worse and worse. Whilst politics has its clowns and useful idiots up front - Johnson, Gove, Grayling, Farage etc with the likes of Cummings the cunning manipulator in the background with the agenda. But they're not running the show. Scottish football has its idiots too - Petrie, Doncaster, Reagan, Mulraney, Alan McRae FFS with Lawell pulling their strings. The answer might not be to take out the manipulators though, thats too obvious. We need to look behind the screen and see who's controlling them too. Who are the brains, the corrupt elite who have most to gain from the chaos? The disaster capitalists will benefit financially from a No Deal Brexit (the virus is is useful icing on the cake) but Putin is looking like the main winner, the one who takes advantage of a de-stabilised Europe, economically, even militarily, Would UK lives benefit if Putin was taken out tomorrow? Maybe, because stabilisation with responsible government left to concentrate on making things better can do just that. So, looking at the parallels, how do we learn from politics and fix Scottish football? Find out the Mr Big who benefits then see who controls him and why ? I'd start with Dermot Desmond who plenty have suspected uses his pet club to launder cash. A definite beneficiary generating the cash to maintain the corruption but who's propping him up? Opus Dei ? What do they stand to gain ? Maybe just the destruction of their perceived enemy - us? Is that the ultimate goal ? Judging by what's gone on over the last 10 years or so we could be excused for thinking so. So, how do we stop them, other than having a budding Lee Harvey Oswald step forward? They need to be put back in their box and their successors need to know the games up and if they dont change their ways we'll go after them too. But how? Identify names, impact on commerce that can be linked to them? Winning trophies will help but they'll be doing all the can to stop that.
I'm running out of ideas now - the things we think of when we wake up early and cant get back to sleep, lockdown and bright mornings have played havoc with my routine. Bugger it, I'm going back to bed
