Would have no issue doing that with Miller if the fee was say £1m but when its £3m and money is tight already then we can't afford to do that. The pressure on him rises coming to us along with the demands of the support never mind adding the price tag on top of that it's huge pressure for a 17 year old who has 1 year behind him.

If he was £1m all for it send him back for a year or two see how his development goes and if he succeeds bring him into the first team if he failed then cut the losses. At his age right now and where his development stage will be we just can't afford to spend that type of cash and give him the odd start occasionally with the 15-20 minute sub appearances it does nothing for him.

Dessers is our first striker since Kenny Miller to get 20 plus in the league. He has his faults but surely moving him this summer seems backwards. He's more than capable of contributing next season. We can't get rid of everyone.

I mean obviously if there's a decent fee offered that gets our money back then maybe it's one to consider but he's not the first person I'd be wanting out the door this summer.

there are other priorities such as wingers and CBs

That used to be my thinking too, but the flip side argument is that said youngster has to earn it, and I'm swayed by that.

If Wright or whomever it may be has been better in training, worked harder and everything else, they're the one who deserves the shirt. You can end up devaluing it somewhat otherwise.

It's 16 in the league has has and over 20 overall I would keep him as well for next season as he's shown he can contribute.

Connor Barron would be a great one to pick up on a free. Hopefully it's like Jack and they're all keeping it quiet to appease their scummy fans for now but it's done.

Though, if there's anything to the Bologna links then I'd be surprised if he didn't fancy that given how well other Scots have done there. Especially Ferguson at Bologna.

The grim reality is that the 11 players we've owned that I mentioned have contributed %^*& all this season. They are all very easily replaced. I expect is to get 4 good loans in and 2/3 bosman singings that improve the squad on the whole. Would mean we could spend money on the right type of profile

If we get good enough offers for Tav and Goldson they are gone too, however I'd keep both but their game time would need to be regulated better.

Would mean 10 new signings. If we got Cortes and Sima back that would give us a bit of continuity within the squad and would mean only 8 new faces. We wouldn't have to break the bank to improve the squad, that could potentially mean just 6 cash/bosman signings. I just really don't see there being 11 in 11 out that fans are expecting.

This highlights just how poor we are in the transfer market.

Two players who are nowhere near the required standard on big wages making them hard to move on. And the worst thing is they aren’t the only two.

I'd argue even those with two years to go are under threat, particularly if they are not contributing. Matondo and others

Tav, for example, will be here for maximum one further season if the board follow Clement and Koppen's template.

We need to think about the longer term too though. We could spend £2/3/4m on players in a window, loan them back to make them progress and then not need to recruit the following summer. Or not need to replace a player because we already have one who is out on loan. Tims did it with Christie/Scales for example. We should of done it with the likes of Mayo
 
That rumour list (as early as it is) doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. It’s going to be a big job clearing out the vast amounts of dead wood and signing a whole new team essentially (hopefully).

If we can get another club to take him, on his salary, then I think you are correct, even for a small fee, but that’s the issue, big wages plus a guy at his age with his recent injury record, moving him on may be easier said than done
 
People need to remember were moving away from a "traditional" scouting set up and have went down the analytical route. We will be looking at parameters, stats, trends and if someone matches what we need we go and scout them in person.

It's the mentality side that is harder to judge but getting away from older players and bringing in younger guys with hunger is a start.

Depends how much Brighton want for him he's approaching his last 12 months with them. His fitness is an issue but those 16 goals for us have been important can we afford to lose them?

People want rid of Tav Dessers and then no Sima there goes over 60 goals out the side.

I agree but a lot of our good youngsters got poached before they hit our first team. Gilmour, Rory Wilson, Patterson to an extent

i agree however a lot of our good youth prospects have been pinched just before they make the break through with us. Gilmour, Patterson(to an extent), McCrorie (GK - been in Scotland squad), Rory Wilson, Mebude x2. I would say that is more from our youth academy than the Tim’s have produced. Wilson and the Mebude brothers haven’t done much in their clubs 1st teams, I accept that, but our youth department is doing OK if you include them plus King, McCausland.

He was linked with us a while ago when he wasn't playing much at Brighton. People are probably remembering the name but not keeping up with the fact that he's had a great season in Germany

Who’s paying £7m for Tav or £4m for Matondo? We couldn’t get shot of wright for 500k last summer how will get that now when he has a year left?

I’m not saying we should sign Scottish over quality but we do need a small group of players who know what this league and club is all about.

Barron, Watson, Miller should have been tracked at youth level and then when they have broken into their respective 1st teams. Why can’t we buy them and loan them back. Scottish teams have no money so we should be creative about recruiting these types of players. Along with your Diomande’s, Cortes and Sima deals. That, in my view, would lead to a successful squad

Goldson is on far too high a wage to be kept as a backup, we need to get rid of him.
