And DuklaPrague - slavia, Sparta, Victoria zizkov
Toronto: Toronto Ulster United, Toronto Metros Croatia, Toronto Blizzard
Might as well throw Motherwell and Hamilton in.Clydebank is technically not Glasgow if you want to be pedantic.
Panathinaikos, AEK Athens and Olympiacos are all in and around Athens, I think, but don't know if we've ever played Olympiacos.
When did we play them?Istanbul Basaksehir as well
Olympiacos are from Pireas, Attica.
Yep, I was at the game at TynecastleBeat them over 2 legs in the semi final I recall.
and third lanark when they were there!!!And queens park too.
Stole my Thunder ya Bas.........Dundee, Dundee United, Dundee Hibernian
I'mI know we have played a few sides from Moscow . Is their any other city we have played 3 sides from the same city
Hvidovre from CopenhagenIf you include friendlies:
Antwerp: Antwerp, Beerschot, Berchem Sport
Dublin: Dolphin, Bohemians, Shelbourne
Lisbon: Benfica, Sporting, Estoril Praia
Paris: CAP, Racing, PSG
Toronto: Toronto Ulster United, Toronto Metros Croatia, Toronto Blizzard

Definitely.. Skol cup semi circa 1985/86.Might have played Hibs, Hearts and Meadowbank Thistle
We first played Leith Athletic competitively in the league October 3rd 1891 at Bank Park, Leith beat us 3-1. The return fixture was at the First Ibrox Park, Rangers won 3-2 on March 19th 1892.
Meadowbank Thistle - we played them for the first time in the League Cup semi final at Ibrox, September 26th 1984 and won 4-0. The return was two weeks later, 1-1 at Tynecastle.
6 if you also include Third Lanark, Clydebank4 for Glasgow, Clyde
And Dukla prague.Prague - slavia, Sparta, Victoria zizkov
I make it six (and need to check some others). That would then make it five teams from Edinburgh we've played in senior competitions.
Good shout5 for Glasgow - Third Lanark.
Posted earlier - there have been loads from Glasgow if you include the old and original teams from the late 1890s.Good shout
They are from Madeira, which is like saying that a Glasgow team are from the Shetlands, or as it is south, the Channel Islands!!Maritimo.

Ooops never read the opening post correctlyWhat was the score against Atletico, Getafe and Vallecano ?
Braga is 55km away from PortoPorto - Porto, Braga & Boavista
Clydebank’s not in Glasgow6 if you also include Third Lanark, Clydebank
Sorry Bud,Ooops never read the opening post correctly
I deserved itSorry Bud,
Couldn't resist.
You are quite correct but it's a bit of a nitpick. Areas like Getafe have been engulfed by Madrid city, eg look at the Madrid Sur metro system etc etc. But yes, you are technically correct. In any case can't remember us playing Getafe ever. Didnt Zenit put Getafe out in the UEFA Semi final when we got to the final?Getafe is a city in the Madrid region.
It's not in the city of Madrid.
Rayo Vallecano.
Real
Atletico.
Didnt Zenit put Getafe out in the UEFA Semi final when we got to the final?
Kings Park were from Stirling.Right......I've searched the records from our birth to the First World War (assumption is stable set of clubs since then). I've also only included Scottish Cup, League Championship and League Cup - and therefore excluded Glasgow Cup, Glasgow Merchants Charity Cup, Inter City Leagues etc.
I think we've played 24 teams from Glasgow in top class and competitive matches (in those tournaments above):
Battlefield
Cambuslang
Cartvale
Celtic
Clyde
Cowlairs
Govan Athletic
Jordanhill
Kelvinside Athletic
Kings Park
Northern (from Springburn)
Oxford (from Crosshill)
Parkgrove (from Govan)
Partick Thistle
Pollokshields Athletic
Possilpark
Queens Park
Queen's Park Juniors (a "separate entity" to Queens Park)
South Western (from Copeland Park)
Third Lanark (including their original name First Lanark Rifle Volunteers)
Thornliebank
United Abstainers Athletic (from Crosshill)
Westbourne (from Hillhead)
Whitefield (from Cambuslang)
Best analogy is Govan. Historically may have been separate towns/villages but are now part of the same geographical city.Pireaus is a district of Athens.
Madrid sur metro line doesnt touch madrid. You are quite correct but it's a bit of a nitpick. Areas like Getafe have been engulfed by Madrid city, eg look at the Madrid Sur metro system etc etc. But yes, you are technically correct. In any case can't remember us playing Getafe ever. Didnt Zenit put Getafe out in the UEFA Semi final when we got to the final?
There’s only one team in Manchester!Manchester surely?
What two Stirling teams have we played?Based on this thread and only taking competitive fixtures:
Glasgow - hunners
Edinburgh - 6 teams
Prague - 4 teams
Moscow - 3 teams
Copenhagen - 3 teams
2 teams (with a potential for a third)
Dublin
Bratislava
Sofia
Lisbon
Athens (although I don’t think Piraeus counts)
Istanbul
Belgrade
Gibraltar
2 but probably no chance of a third
Stirling (could play Stirling Uni for in the SC)
Rotterdam
Amsterdam
Turin
Zurich
Milan
Porto
Graz
Dundee (not sure what set up the junior clubs are now)
1 but you could get 3
Madrid
Budapest
Bucharest (unirea arnt from there)
London
Belfast
Aberdeen (Cove and Banks’o’ Dee)
Third Lanark yes but Clydebank is in Clydebank!6 if you include Clydebank, and Third Lanark
You’ve actually made that up…it’s name is the “West Midlands conurbation” which is made up of the cities of Birmingham, Wolverhampton and the towns including West Bromwich. It’s certainly not Birmingham!West Bromwich is a district of the Birmingham metropolitan area. It's not the same as Paisley
