Has anybody listened to the guy speak? He has a east of Scotland Edinburgh accent maybe it was that. Racism has no place at Ibrox
Can't understand either of them. I must be racist.

Aye I do understand that point. 20/25 wouldn’t have been singing it to him to be racist. Probably just thought it was a sing song but it probably got started by people doing it to be racist to this guyTBF what if people just joined in because it’s the Sakala song and has been about the most sung song on buses and pubs this season and chanted most places regardless
Our stewards aren’t the most liveliest or competent in the best of situationsSurely would have been better to report it to a steward than go straight to the papers.
If he has to explain why then there's no point in trying to.Can you explain why?
It could be as innocent as that and have nothing to do with the colour of his skin we dont know the full factsCan't understand either of them. I must be racist.
If it happens in the stadium which is being claimed then rangers have a responsibility to deal with itSocietal problem not a Rangers one
I've attended far more games than you ever have I suspect. I don't think the 2nd part of that story happened as he says. 1st part I can see as being true. Just because I don't believe something doesn't make me a crackpot. There will be CCTV if true it can be proven. You don't believe 25 people started singing a football song?
What if a few were cretins who started it because he is black, and the rest ignorantly joined in, is that unbelievable in your mind?
If it is, I suggest you start attending football matches or going to pubs.
Should be PS who look at the evidence and let the fella give them what he hand his friends have along with the club and WRC evidence that’s available .We must take such allegations seriously and have the default position that we always investigate as best possible.
That means Rangers contacting him for his seat details and try to identify those around him so the club can both get corroboration and identify those behaving inappropriately.
It also means the WRC checking their CCTV and verifying he was there as well as then looking to identify who it was that abused him.
Both should keep him fully informed of progress.
He's got an Edinburgh accent.
Is that Limmy character racist?
That I agree on.Poor bloke.
Doesn’t surprise me it’s turned into a debate.
The only issue I can agree with being debated is whether this would have made the papers if it was another club doing it.
that’s admirably elliptical but doesn’t make any sense. I’m just asking for a straightforward explanation of why the original statement is racist. If he has to explain why then there's no point in trying to.
He doesn’t need to bring another negative storm of publicity down upon us.
We need to work amongst ourselves to eradicate such behaviour.
It’s pornography for the press when such things happen - they have no interest in ending such behaviour, their sole concern is to castigate Rangers and this is an open goal.
First sensible thing you've said.I must be racist.
This post is such a painfully perfect way to describe the attitude and actions of Celtic and the Catholic Church when it comes to sexual abuse. He doesn’t need to bring another negative storm of publicity down upon us.

We’ve got a mega fan in the threadI've attended far more games than you ever have I suspect. I don't think the 2nd part of that story happened as he says. 1st part I can see as being true. It’s not really that incredible TBH, it is pretty likely most around the stadium don’t see regular incidents of racism because, well, they don’t see regular incidents of racism.Incredible the number of folk who go along with "I've never witnessed it so I doubt it happened". There was nearly a square go two seasons ago where I sit in BF5. A guy (white) who goes to the games with his son (mixed race) confronted a guy who sits a bit in front of me, along the lines of "I'm fucking sick of your racist shit" - I heard him shouting something untoward on that occasion and would've challenged it had the guy not done so, but the offender didn't try to plead any innocence. Was clearly just fucked right off that he'd been called out, and eventually shat himself when the son in question turned out to be 6ft plus.
Point is, that had obviously been going on for a while before that guy snapped, and nobody had batted an eyelid. There's a guy who sits near me who throws out "poof, faggot, retard, spazzy, paki" etc with reckless abandon. I'm the only one who's called him out and he just gets aggressive. Told a steward and they did nothing. Everyone else around either just tuts or laughs.
I'm very inclined to believe that those who have a problem with this man are just projecting because they recognise themselves in the actions he describes.
i thought roadman was a pisstake term for people who use that kind of lingo but it looks daft. Like Ali G would be a roadman?I literally just called a person out over on the Roofe thread, for referring to him as a 'Roadman' because he types in Patois on social media. So yeah, plenty of racist and racial insensitive nonsense gets chucked about on here on a regular basis. The Lounge is even worse for it, narrow minded and reactionary nonsense.
What? That's so far from the point. I'm not saying people see regular instances of racism. I'm saying people's willful ignorance, just because they don't see it, is incredible. It’s not really that incredible TBH, it is pretty likely most around the stadium don’t see regular incidents of racism because, well, they don’t see regular incidents of racism.
Sadly it’s always been the same. 99% of our fans are great people, but for some reason we have some midweek roasters who latch onto us , genuine boozebags who care more about bevvy than the game, and they’ve embarrassed our club for decades.Club really need to investigate and hope the guy is ok.
Evening kicks offs do bring out some of the no wisers amongst our support. Guy beside me absolutely steaming launching abuse at our players where they could quite clearly hear him. Come half time he was that steaming him and all his mates left.
I enjoy a beer before the game but not to the point I couldn’t watch the match. It’s also another reason why drinking inside Scottish Football stadiums will never be allowed. There is then an argument to say why is it allowed at rugby matches. (Discussion for another day).
London gang members/drill performers are called roadmeni thought roadman was a pisstake term for people who use that kind of lingo but it looks daft. Like Ali G would be a roadman?
Is anyone actually saying that though, if so, where? What? That's so far from the point. I'm not saying people see regular instances of racism. I'm saying people's willful ignorance, just because they don't see it, is incredible.
Not saying he is, but yesterday I had never heard of him. Today I know who he is. This story will likely bring him lots of opportunities, TV work and things like that.It isn't clear from the article whether he did or not. Casting aspersions on stuff like this isn't really a great look. In fact it reminds me of Michael Stewarts behaviour in the aftermath of the Kamara abuse.
Why would he make it up?
i thought roadman was a pisstake term for people who use that kind of lingo but it looks daft. Like Ali G would be a roadman?
This. 100%.Also calling bullshit on the excuse being peddled that it's because he's got Edinburgh accent. What a lot of pish. Thousands of white blokes with Irish, Dundonian, Aberdonian and various other Scots accents at Ibrox on any given week.
I think I'd trust a black man to know when he's been racially abused or targeted, no matter how insidious it was.
Gies a break.

Don't tarnish the Rangers name, we'll deal with it in house. That's what you've said in other words.Oh wow.
Sorry. What nonsense.
The Catholic Church, and Celtic FC - their crimes were institutionalised. Organisations perpetuating cover ups.
To compare, however abhorent, the behaviour of an individual, is nonsensical.
again, is that racist? Or just a reflection that we live in a multicultural society where people have all sorts of terms. I mean, do we even know if the guy using the term roadman is white? If that even mattersA roadman is like a low level gang member usually from London who tend to sell drugs, carry knives and/or rob people. A pretty bizarre name to call Roofe but nothing surprises me on here.
Then why not report it in the stadium and let Rangers deal with it instead of going to the media.?If it happens in the stadium which is being claimed then rangers have a responsibility to deal with it
it is a very weird 'cluster of evidence', claims to support rangers because of skin colour, then claims two separate skin colour related incidents inside and outside of the stadium. Detectives call these things clusters of evidence when something is clearly a set up. Personally I would want more evidence. If anything, the 'left in tears' part just makes it sound more dubiousAs a former media person, this smacks of journalist invents story about himself.
That picture of him with the BBC Mic is very telling.
I’m not saying we don’t have absolute idiots in our support but there is no way that he ‘left in tears at half time’.
An absolute set up story if you ask me.
Similar to the one when Alfie’s car was interfered with by the private detective who was evidently hired by a newspaper to do it.
Already isWe all know how this is going to be spun, ironically when the media do their usual thing in just highlighting the words "Rangers fans", they'll once again just serve to trumpet their own agenda, which has nothing to do with fighting racism.
Anyway, on to the points.
The incident in the stand is open to interpretation, it may have been a genuine question from the fan, or he was someone taking the c@nt and has a sadly questionable sense of humour.
As for the experience in the Wee Rangers Club, unfortunately we can't outlaw ignorance and this sounds like some fans with a very limited experience of life reacting to a solitary black guy, by asking crass questions based on on the misguided assumption that all black people are the same and share the same background. Were they being racist singing the Fashion song, probably not, but they were acting like ignoramuses.
As ScottyRFC1872 says in post#50, this is a societal problem. Education is the key here, people need to jettison their ignorant assumptions and stop making fools of themselves.
As a follow up, perhaps Heart and Hand could have Bobby on as a guest and ask him to detail his experiences and how together we can all help to eliminate this embarrassing attitude that pertains in some sections of Scottish society?
We need to offer Bobby more than sympathy and as a fellow Rangers fan, he deserves all of our support.
Blue is the only colour that matters.
Yes, it’s racial stereotypeagain, is that racist? Or just a reflection that we live in a multicultural society where people have all sorts of terms. I mean, do we even know if the guy using the term roadman is white? If that even matters
