I'm guessing, but I think still the only cousins to ever both score in the same cup final.
Interesting. I think they most likely could be unless someone else knows differently.I'm guessing, but I think still the only cousins to ever both score in the same cup final.
Big Davie in goal, must have a fives competition.

Thanks for that. The Big Man also played in goal against Celtic in a Glasgow Cup game played at the end of 64-65 season, where Provan actually replaced Norrie Martin in Goal.
Rangers were unfortunately reduced to 9 men through injury when Rodger Hynd (ankle) was taken off and immediately went to hospital, and George McLean (gashed shin) did not reappear for the second half (this was typical of the sort of tactics that the recently appointed new Celtic manager Jock Stein would employ to gain an advantage).
This was in the days before substitutes when the injured could not be replaced.
Goalkeeper Martin also suffered a broken finger, that forced him to swap shirts with Davie Provan going in goals, and Martin having to play up front as an auxiliary striker for the remainder of the game.
Only time I ever saw big Davie in goals was in a Glasgow Cup tie against them at Parkhead after Norrie Martin got injured and went out to play the remainder of the game on the left wingBig Davie in goal, must have a fives competition.
Rangers players do a lap of honour while an overexcited bear is escorted out by the constabulary.
Princess Alexandra congratulating our Derek on his 20th birthday,(with a goal to follow on that great day)
John who?
As was mine.My old man was adamant he wasn't just the best Rangers centre half he ever saw, but he was the best for anyone.
Yip.2-0 defeat Piggery on Aug/Sep 1966?
I don't know but it sure looks a lot like John GreigJohn who?
I think this was a pre-season/Sports Day at Falkirk - happy to be corrected!Big Davie in goal, must have a fives competition.
That's got to be the earliest photo of his Rangers career that I've seen.
There is a colour version of the same photo in The Rangers Players’ Story iirc. A billiard table must have been missing a couple of legs when that photo was taken.
Brilliant wee story from Willie Mathieson in the Rangers 72 film,Willie said when they were doing the lap round Ibrox with the ECWC that Bobby Shearer was in the Broomloan Rd end of the ground just standing with the other punters applauding the players.
If i had a time machine seeing Alan Morton playing would be one of the trips I’d definitely make
This looks like an expanded version of the classic photo.
Yes the direction of the lap of honour was right at the tunnel then around towards the Celtic end as you have rightly said and all the way round. This looks like an expanded version of the classic photo.
I've always previously interpreted it as Bobby Shearer heading from the tunnel area towards the Rangers End.
I was only 5 then, but those who were there, going by the photo, it looks like the direction of travel from the trophy presentation was eastwards towards the Celtc End (packed with Bears of course) and then around the pitch towards the North Enclosure and then the Rangers End.
Is that George McLean dodging round the fan getting huckled by the City of Glasgow's Police finest?
Talking of the fan, since this is the King's Park end, is it possible, contrary to my previous belief, he may in fact be a Dundee supporter, which would actually make more sense?
Anyway, a Glorious Day in our history.
So not John Creig then?I don't know but it sure looks a lot like John Greig
Definitely big Dandy.Yes the direction of the lap of honour was right at the tunnel then around towards the Celtic end as you have rightly said and all the way round.
I was in the North Enclosure that day and it was indeed a Rangers fan who was escorted out.
Quite a few had ran onto the trackside to greet the players though most were kids.
I'm not sure who the player is tbh.
