4 clubs needed to down the SPFL vote.

Most of that will be taken care of by voting for Rangers Resolution to distribute the money before terminating the league. Give them all their cash, hold off in the vote about terminating the league and take the time to have a proper discussion about whether reconstruction is feasible/desirable. Then make a call on the league.

The indicator will be if the SPFL cancel this weeks votes and, instead, putS the Rangers Resolution to Members. Or will they deny the vote on Rangers Resolution on some obscure point of order?

The fact that they went straight to the ‘award titles on current standings or do nothing at all’ vote suggests they won’t have much interest in Rangers proposal.

They could very easily have came up with something similar to what Rangers proposed, along with options to null and void and settle on current standings, and then put all options on the table for clubs to give their opinions on.

Instead they have ignored all options but one, and are now offering that option to clubs as an all or nothing ultimatum.

They know a lot of clubs are absolutely desperate for payouts. There are several options that could have been tabled and voted through to allow club payouts to have been released. The authorities knew that so they have loaded the vote with only one option knowing that financially strapped clubs will probably just vote it through without much consideration for what happens with titles.

Then they are dangling the carrot of league restructuring for clubs facing the drop.

It’s bribery.

The most likely place for it to fail is the Championship. They need 75% (8-2) in favour. Thistle will vote against for sure. Would any 2 of ICT, Dundee and Ayr vote against as they lose the chance of making the top league through play-offs? I think they might. Subject to no approval being given for league reconstruction prior to the vote. A promise of talks won’t cut it.

Even Arbroath, Dunfermline and Morton have a realistic chance of catching Inverness in second. League reconstruction, I assume, would see the top 2 go up automatically, so you’ve got to think those clubs would be against it also.

And will be exposed for what it is if they push on with this vote without first letting clubs vote on the Rangers proposal.

An interesting 48 hours ahead I’d say.

Us & Hearts would be obvious

Hibs would be leapfrogged by St Johnstone and move out of top 6, they’d also lose 2 home Edinburgh Derbies

Kilmarnock still have a shot at Europe so may vote in our favour

Not sure on anyone else

The only other option could be the sheep mate.
Livi, Well, RC, St Mirren & Accies will be happy id suggest.

I suspect the Bheasts have already been in talks with other clubs to try and secure their plan.

If the other clubs think back to 2012 when Celtic corralled them into sticking the boot into us and how it panned out backing the Bheasts they might not get the numbers they hoped for.
The Tim's will have all there ducks in a row, the question is do we have the clout to derail the planned outcome.

Have we put froward a counter proposal?
Seen something like this on the 4lads twitter page. Say we said split the prize money evenly for all leagues, so spl would be say £4m prize money split between 12, £333,000 each club piad now (dont know if £4m is the prize money) no champions, no relegation. European spots determined on current positions. Do you think more clubs would back our proposal meaning a fair split of money which could save clubs going under. Also feel our proposal would be backed in lower leagues as clubs would get fair share of there prize money which would save a few of them plus prob the idea of a colts team in lower leagues giving these clubs a better income again next season.

Unfortunately it'll end up that the clubs are so desperate for the prize money they'll likely vote it through.

Yes but individually.

75% in our league.

75% in the championship.

And 75% in league 1 and 2 combined.

3 seperate votes

That's as I understand it. If any one of the league groupings votes the SPFL Board proposal down it doesn't fly. That will of course also apply to Rangers' proposal.

People need to get the whole voting with Rangers or them idea out their heads. Every single club will be looking after number 1 in this situation. Talks of boycotts etc are nonsensical. The whole situation will be driven by self interest. Hearts won’t vote to be relegated but will 100% propose league reconstruction. Everyone is out for themselves, it will just depend what way that tips they balance.

So if that us, hearts, Aberdeen out, we only need one more. Hibs? Although not sure I get how St Johnstone get 6th spot instead of them.

Where are you getting this from ? His mob are the least likely to back us up.
They are 1 point behind Motherwell, I think most of us would take Aberdeen to win 3rd place with 8 games to go.

There's prize money and a better European draw at stake.

The SPFL will be litigated against by Hearts, or us, or both!
They are playing a dangerous game for the benefit of one or two clubs.

Starting to drip feed now. . .

Hearts against the SPFL proposal.

Ayr Utd for it.

On a sidenote, Ayr Utd were for null and void but after seeing the figures say they admit that it can't be done.

We did. Hearts backed us already mate;)

Reconstruction would surely lead to teams having one less game against us and the beasts.
Don't kid yourselves that it's favourable to all.
It's intended to be a sweetner for Hearts with one aim...Beast Title.

Anyone seen the comments from Lachlan Cameron (Ayr chairman) on Twitter?

He says null and void is his view but having seen the papers he recognises it's 'not possible' and they'll be backing the motion.

What rationale could there be for null and void not being possible, yet awarding titles, promotion and relegating teams on current standings (with no more games played) be possible?

He probably means he's seen the bribe, the scum are offering

$$$ - bribe money.

1000 people died today in the UK from covid-19 and it will go on and on and on.
Any claims of titles on the backdrop this should be truly ashamed of themselves
[/QUOTE]
Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing could shame them. Their manager and Captain have both spoke out to be awarded a title that they haven't won in the midst of a global pandemic.

Damn. I had Ayr down as a potential ‘no’ to the SPFL proposal. Any idea why they are backing it if the Rangers proposal is on the table? They’re in a play-off position.

Raith Rovers chairman Bill Clark believes the lower league clubs will vote against ending the season early.

Clark was part of a video conference call on Wednesday afternoon involving the SPFL, the Scottish FA and all ten League One clubs.

Top of the agenda was the league body’s proposal to end the Championship, League One and League Two campaigns based on points accrued per game, which would see Rovers progress as champions of the third tier.

A total of 15 clubs from League One and Two would need to vote in favour of the resolution for it to be passed but from gauging opinion from his peers, Clark insists that is unlikely.

Clark said: “I think it will be a very close call, my gut feeling is that it probably won’t get over the line.

“As you would expect there was very mixed opinions about it, there is no doubt a number of clubs will oppose it

“Clubs who are going to miss out or be relegated are going to oppose, and clubs who are maybe in the play-off position, and even clubs below that, have indicated that they won’t vote for it.”

Clark even insists the financial incentive of clubs being paid prize money based on league positions would not be enough to alter certain opinions.

He added: “We did discuss the cash and so on and a number of clubs indicated that they weren’t too bothered about it, either because it was such a small amount if you’re down at the bottom of the league, and there were other clubs arguing that they did not need the money right away.

“There was a mixed reception in terms of the money being paid out although it leaves the clubs with financial difficulties in a very difficult position.”

Naturally, Clark insists his own team would be voting in favour of the proposal, with Raith a point clear of Falkirk at the summit with eight games left.

He added: “We’re top of the league and put a whole lot of effort into this season.

“The SPFL have produced the figures for points won and we’ve been top of the league for 21 out of 28 weeks.

“If we’re going to be denied being named as champions of League One I would be extremely disappointed.”
