The past two games against Benfica have shown he’s still got it, not that I thought he ever lost it.
Hold up play, link up play & his ability to draw fouls were magnificent again. Allowed us to get up the park & break their press.
Vertonghen will be having nightmares.
Keep it up Alfie.

Thought that myself. Sure his leg was practically round Alfies neck, but never saw a replay of this incident.I thought Vertonghen was lucky to stay on the pitch for his yellow on Morelos.

Mom for me, few people giving him shit after the last match as well despite playing very well recently. A lot of our fans will never be convinced yet he will probably get us our highest ever fee when he goesThe past two games against Benfica have shown he’s still got it, not that I thought he ever lost it.

I understand that, but 7 goals in 18 games is decent. Considering he’s not in the box an awful lot anymore, due to being the false 9.Appetite is still there but as a forward he isn't scoring enough.
Aye, he might show some technical brilliance on some occasions however (some posters will get it).Remember this game, the next one that he has a few poor touches you will have folk saying he is poor technically and doesn't fit our system. Our system still relies on him but not to the same extent and in a different way
Work-rate was superb tonight, looked a lot hungrier probably in reaction to Sunday.
Gerrard has got our front 3 working their arses off tremendously well off the ball.

In fairness, we could probably rest him v Falkirk but I get what you mean.I thought he was superb tonight. No goal though so no doubt the brains trust headed up by Del and co will want him benched for the next game.
That and the handball for the penalty.I thought Vertonghen was lucky to stay on the pitch for his yellow on Morelos.

Results are the main thing, we play far better as a team now. He will still score 20 easy this year I reckonI understand that, but 7 goals in 18 games is decent. Considering he’s not in the box an awful lot anymore, due to being the false 9.
I’m confident more goals will come but right now him allowing Kent & Roofe in behind is working so well.
If a player plays well he's great, if they are off form their terrible. He was superb, yet again playing the role asked of him brilliantly.
Many on here should be ashamed of previous comments.
Ran his bollocks off like the rest of the team. The team Cannot be faulted for effort tonight, their legs went late and they weren’t helped by poor game management.
Alfie was certainly a contender for motm
Well saidShould have punted that liability for 12 million.
where are all the usual suspects??????????
Love the wee man. What a player. Bullied a top centre back tonight.
