Jury still very much out on both of them for me.
I felt the main reason Hearts hardly laid a glove on us yesterday was that for the most part our midfield and forward line were tearing them a new one.
Martin is fairly steady, but seems prone to the odd brainfart.
Bates can tackle and block, but his positional awareness at times is a worrying, and he looks like a rabbit in the headlights when players close him down quickly. However, he can be worked on.
Moving forwards though I currently feel we need better than those two for our first choices.
