For a start has Alfredo ever 'talked about wanting to leave'? I'll answer. He hasn't.
The media create a circus around him every window and some of our less intelligent fans use it as stick to beat him with whenever he is playing poorly (so much for being 'loyal' Rangers fans eh?).
Again it's the same with valuations. He plays well for a couple of matches and fans are saying hes worth 20m. He has a bad few games and we will be lucky to get 10m. That's not really how it works.
I'll always defend Alfie overall but even I will say that he is pretty much to blame for dropping points against Hearts. Those misses were indefensible and along with Gerrards terrible substitutions cost us the match.
However, it is clear that he has been neutered by Scottish football and his new role in the team. There seems to be a complete lack of aggression from him these days. His old disciplinary record and subsequent weekly media backlash has seemingly had an effect on the way he plays. Would we rather have the hothead who sometimes got a ban but ragdolled defences?
With regards to his new role. He plays deeper and tries to draw our defenders whereas he used to play a lot closer to the opposition defence which I think cause different problems but resulted in more goals for him. We have to also remember that he does have droughts. The same as every striker. He will score goals. It's just that his teammates are also not stepping up like they did last season.
