Boro fan arrested for leaving 11yo son in hotel to go drinking after fa cup win

Not as bad as letting your child run on the park to get a players top
Not really, going to the pub for the night and leaving the kid alone in a hotel is entirely of the fathers making.
A kid running away onto the park for a jersey is an event of the kids making.

Not really comparable TBH

I was going over to town with mates etc at that age, going to St Andrews and hanging out (which is about 15 miles away) in the summer.

Its a different time, and pretty stupid of the father to leave the kid, if it was to go out to bring back say food, fair enough, but to go out drinking is pretty mental

I once worked with a woman whos husband, a carpenter, was an uber fanatical Sunderland fan...She said the last straw was when he cancelled a dinner she had arranged because of a big job he was involved in...Later that evening she happened to be watching MOTD showing Sunderland highlights and noticed a familiar face jumping around after they scored.

They divorced, she ended up marrying a doctor and is very happy, Sunderland still languish in Division One. B-D
He is better off without her

So was I.

But leaving child in a hotel room a place you have no control over the safety or well-being to go bevvying is different.

Prioritising getting smashed over your kid
I agree with the last bit, to take your kid all the way to Manchester for a big game and then dumping him in the room himself while you are out on the lash late into the night is fecking rubbish.
He would have been safe but its selfish as feck

Would he?
Certainly cannot be guaranteed.
What if he took a turn, slipped in the shower and hit his head, a fire, bomb or a terror attack?
Granted having a half witted father with him would not guarantee his safety either but there is Loads of ways a line child could come to grief

I played out from a young age, back home when the street lights go on etc, honestly at no point did I worry as a kid about peodos, serial killers, shooters etc that you get nowadays. It’s much more prevalent now
Common sense must surely tell you that is nonsense.

He is 11 years old hardly a toddler.
Would I as a father of a 10 year old boy do that?
Would I feck but it wouldn't cross my mind about a terrorist attack or a fire bomb being the reasons not to leave him himself in a hotel room, more the fact that I just wouldn't want to be that much of a selfish prick even if he was comfortable doing so(deemed to be by the dad anyway may I add)

Bigger average attendance than Boro. You'd be better doing some checks before picking up on attendances:shh:

Honestly thought Birmingham City wouldve had higher than that, behind fulham and huddersfield is a surprise. Fulham being ahead of QPR is also a surprise, wouldve thought that QPR were the biggest team next to chelsea in west london. Oh well, there you are eh.

He's right, I was the same. Absolutely no worries playing out with my mates till the lights went on when I was a nipper. These days my kids are in before dark. Not that long ago we had reports of a guy following kids home after school, police were out, going round houses trying to find him. Never let's my kids out after dark now after that.

I agree about going around without a care in the world when i was young(I am in my late 40s now) , common sense however must tell you that these types of scumbags were always around just that it simply wasn't reported the way it was then and especially with social media nowadays.
There is no way paedos are a 21st century thing.

However as a parent now I look back and shake my head about how things were acceptable then and would never dream of doing now.
I can't say I look back and think it was irresponsible of them, it was acceptable and the norm at the time so we just got on with it.

@BlueBritain55 it looks like Gibbo has saved Derby. You're welcome. B-D:shh:
Gibson always said it wasn't anything against Derby as a Club.

Fair play to him that he's finally and that's a big finally, done the right thing.

Middlesbrough is still a shitehole, although I've only attended at a mental health hospital there, they seemed like the most normal people in BoroB-)

I could never leave my son himself, I'd have to remove his laptop and any other devices in case he was ordering an expensive justeat or trying his hand at hacking again. Better off zip tying him round the toilet seat. Only a few beers son, back in a minute.

The saviour of derby Mr Gibson. He should be awarded the freedom of derby

Blues have half the ground shut.Safety issue.Bottom of kop and Tilton Road shut .Needs doing, doubt the Chinese got or going to stump up the money anytime soon.
Think it was nearer 20 k last season.which is incredible considering the crap show on offer at Blues .Club went from awful owners to bad owners.Thats if the first one ain't still got something to do with it all.

I appreciate things are different now, when I was 11 I was going to Ibrox with my pals, even midweek games, I had my own key to the house, after school I was home alone for a couple of hours until my parents got in.

I would never leave my boys alone now though, not a chance.

Letting yourself into the family home after school isn’t really comparable to being left alone in a strange city 100s of miles from home though

Lucky escape

For the guy

The kid probably had a ball with room service and the porno channel.

How times have changed. At at younger age I was left quite happy in the motor with a bag of crisps and a can of irn Bru on a regular basis
