Is there any film of this, Ibrox with 94,000 would have been something to see. Though I reckon my own meager attendance in a crowd of 80,000 against Bayern I humbly suggests trumps it, as that evening they were ALL Bluenoses.

Has anyone ever managed to find out the reason why we only half covered the Rangers End?
Whilst I'm on my high horse, the Derry Shed was a job done on the cheap, though to be fair, I don't think they gave too much thought to arial photos of the stadium.

The famous Bovril Stand from the early 1900's was a far more impressive affair and no, I don't remember it.

I really resent that that jtd from Kilmarnock shares the same name.

And because of his more recent awareness in the public eye, he gets more attention than his far more talented and impressive namesake.

There will only ever be ONE Davy Provan.

I don't think I have seen any footage of that game, but I have the film in my head.
For those that weren't around back then.
67' had been a shite year, Berwick, Bayern, Lisbon. losing Forrest. McLean, then Millar and Wilson.
We had 4 new players making their official Ibrox debut that night (highly unusual back then).
Erik Sorensen, Danish International Goalkeeper.
Andy Penman, a stylish midfielder, with a ferocious shot. Started his career at Everton in the late 50's, a League winner with Dundee 61-62, but still only 24 years old.
Alex Ferguson, we broke the Scottish transfer record to get this one.
Orjan Persson, a six foot blond winger, that would score impossible goals.

They were recently crowned European Champions, and we played them off the park.
We went in at the break a goal down, against the run of play, via a penalty by
Gemmell's a Bastard.
We pummeled them in the second half, and missed some great chances to score, then we got a penalty. Dead ball specialist, Andy Penman stepped up, hit a well taken strike, shoulder high just inside the post, and somehow Simpson got across and saved it.
Two minutes to go we get a free kick, 25 yards out. Penman steps up, bang, directly into the back of the net. The crowd went mental, the roar, almost took the roof off of the recently covered Rangers end, and could quite clearly be heard some two subway stations away on Cornwall St (Kinning Park).

As a footnote, we had played Bayern the previous season (70-71) in the first round of the Fairs Cities Cup, and there was 82,743 at Ibrox as the official attendance.
I'm with you though, nothing beats Bayern Munich 1972.

There is footage of the 1-1 Ibrox game but only of Gemmell's penalty.
There is also a photo of our free-kick goal in Rangers match archives on Facebook.
