Brilliant @dh1963. I had heard of “Whitey” McDonald from away back but did not know he had a brother “Red”.In the game at Hamilton Ontario, Rangers captain was "Whitey" McDonald, and the home team captain was his brother "Red" McDonald.
After both victories we drew 3-3 with Killie in the next league games. It's been a long time since I posted in this thread since tinypic blocked all my old uploads. But it's still the best thread on the forum and so I thought I'd do some reloads of old photos. Apologies if they've been posted by others since:

I remember the Ibrox game. I'm sure they had a squinty-eyed winger called Gerry Queen? And as you say, the two points won against them, were spunked away in the next game.Aye, we always seemed to throw away the advantage every time we beat them. Weird it was the same score each time. 3 points dropped to Airdrie and 2 to St Johnstone didn't help either. We had a good side then but for some reason they had a habit of tossing away good chances of success.

Had the date anything to do with it being a Euro Championship qualifier?

John Hughes scored for Scotland I believe.Yes mate. Scotland needed to win to qualify and it was played early for qualification. Typical Scotland took 3 points from England but lost to Northern Ireland and drew with Wales!
