Really?Pay him off it’s time accept he is finished
He’s been injured due to another player tackling him. What a shocking signing Dorrans has turned out to be. I know through no fault of his own but it's been a shocker.
Why would you actually want to?There is always some cretin who says "just pay him off" or "just cut our losses" in these types of threads. Does my box in. You can't just cancel a player's contract because they are injured. Everyone should know that by now.
And what would be the benefit to us?
A source you say.Dorrans had an undelying issue when he signed for us.Heard from a source his career was over wen we sighed him .Hope its all shit as he's a good player.
So an injured player is to just accept a pay off and give up the treatment and rehabilitation that they were promised in their contract (and in Dorrans' case also give up playing for his boyhood team)?
If we are seen to be just giving up on players and chucking them on the scrap heap when they are having injury problems, how is that going to look to our signing targets of the future?
Think about it.
That thug Power has potentially ended his career after Dorrans waiting his whole life to get his dream move to Rangers. Gerrard rates him very highly as well and he'd have got a chance to cement a place this season if he was fit.
The f*cking thug didn't even get booked for the assault on Dorrans as well.

All you ever do is moan.Pehaps we should get rid of you.Pay him off it’s time accept he is finished
An injured player approaching the end of his career who has nothing left to offer you mean?
So we just blindly pay him up a few million because he’s a good bear?
If anything the fact he’s a Rangers supporter should be the reason why he does walk away rather than use up funds that could be better spent elsewhere.
We’re not talking about a 22 year old here with bags of potential on a low wage.
Plus your point on other players not wanting to come here if we were to mutuallly agree the release of an injured older player is just total bullshit.
must have been a thorough medical he went through if thats the case?Dorrans had an undelying issue when he signed for us.Heard from a source his career was over wen we sighed him .Hope its all shit as he's a good player.
No. We continue to pay his wages because he has a contract. How would you feel if your work got rid of you because you were unwell or injured regularly?
He is a Rangers fan but he also has a family to support. I'm not pretending he'd be homeless within a week if we got shot of him, but with him not having access to treatment and rehabilitaiton at Rangers, who knows when he'd be fit again and how long it would take him to find another club.
Also it's got nothing to do with him being a bear. I've argued this point until I'm blue in the face about Rossiter on here aswell.
My last point is not bullshit. It's hard enough trying to attract players to come here without telling them they're out the door if they have a couple of bad injuries aswell.

Pay him off when he gets injured????Pay him off it’s time accept he is finished
Do you understand what a contract is? We're "blindly" paying his wages because it's illegal not to do so.
My job doesn’t require me to be in peak physical condition and tbh if I was off sick for two seasons I probably would be looking at the sack!
How long do we rehabilitate him then? End of current contract give him another contract until he is fit?
Every club in the world makes decisions on older players for the good of the club, in all honesty as harsh as it sounds I don’t really care what he does to get fit if he’s not a Rangers player he’s rich I’m sure he’d get the correct treatment.
Rossiter has years ahead of him and won’t be on a high wage I’d give him time to see how his body copes with regular football but there is no room for sentiment with anyone that isn’t contributing and giving us value for money.
Nah your not changing my mind on that one, can never imagine a player saying “I was going to go to Rangers but after they released Dorran’s after two years of injuries and 4 appearances I decided against it” not a chance.
End of his current contract, yes. Players sign contracts for security long term and I doubt many players agree to deals that will see them out the door if they have lengthy injuries. Like it or not it is the club's duty to look after their employees.
It is unfair to expect a player to just walk away from their contract if they are injured through no fault of their own and act in a professional manner, which to my knowledge Dorrans does. If he was a lay-about and is unfit because he is pished all the time like Pena then fair enough.
Don't get me wrong I'm not mad about paying him a fortune for very little in return either. But the club has to be seen to be looking after our players properly, and we will continue to do so.
Oh really?
Obviously you fud, I’m saying if he’s not going to be fit and available do we blindly continue to pay him or do we explore options to end his time here.
I’m guessing you probably knew that and are just being awkward but if not I’ll explain more for you in the future petal.

Will be happy to cut him loose in all honesty
For the money he’ll be on, he has to be one of our most expensive waste of money signings in recent times
What exactly is Grezda's injury?
Time and money saved, again, I'm not saying we should look at this, more highlighting that is a very real option when players have long term injury concerns, or injuries that run them close to the end of their contract.
Anybody more concerned that Defoe and Lafferty are doubts?
On top of Morelos being suspended?
Alright then genius, let's explore the options:
1) He stays here until his contract expires, we pay his wages in full.
2) We end his contract now, and pay his wages in full.
If you can think of any other ideas I'm all ears. There's no way he's walking away from a contract, Rangers fan or not.

Why would we pay him off? Makes no sense to do so.Pay him off it’s time accept he is finished
Is he a tim then? He is a thug.Same guy that was allowed to aim his studs at Ryan Jacks face last week. Wonder what time he supports?

I’m sure insurance covers the wage of long term injuries? So there’s absolutely no need for a pay off.An injured player approaching the end of his career who has nothing left to offer you mean?

I was told last week he was seeing another specialist didn’t post it on here or elsewhere. That’s his 2nd visit to specialist this season and his 3rd overall as I’m sure he went to one after Aberdeen game when he pulled up at the end of last season.I think it’s fair to say he may be finished.Hope I’m wrong.Sad to hear this, hopefully it's not too bad.
A fully fit Dorrans challenges for Arfields position and probably takes it.
Really hope he can get fit for us.
