Remember him at Celtic. Seem to remember he had a hotel north of Inverness for a while ?
Not great news.
I met him a few times when he owned a hotel in Poolewe back in the 90's. Nice guy. First time I met him his face was black and blue as he'd fallen down the stairs drunk the night before and hit every step on the way down.I well remember him Decent player, he had a hotel in Achnasheen, it was a bus rest stop, for 15 min time for a toilet break
He owned the hotel in Poolewe wester rossFrom memory it was the Inchnadamph Hotel way up in Wester Ross.
His brother was an internationalist as well.
Pretty much the same!!!I always remember even what he looked liked because I always got his sticker in the panini sticker album and could never swap it!!
It sure was mate. I went down to to Liverpool {game against Everton) on their bus when I was about 12/13 in the early 60s. Great bunch of lads.I'm sure Gordon Smith scored the winner?
Really??..That was a staunch Rangers pub
I was at that game, he scored both their goals I believe. Could have been my first OF game, either that or the 2-2 game at Ibrox. Know I was at both just not sure which was first they were close to each otherRIP Shug, can remember him scoring against us at Ibrox, they were 2 nil up at HT we came back and won 3-2.
Sad indeed, the big fella also drank in the Viking in Ruglen, was well liked.Drank with Johannes a good few times in Caldwells,Rutherglen.Real character and strong as an Ox.
Great sense of fun and never had a bad word for us Rangers men.Sad tidings.
I take it you work in the whisky industry like myself , I also know his daughter , a really nice girl and my deepest condolences to her familyI know his daughter through work and used to have a bit of banter with her about her dad. RIP big man
He was a cult figure with the beasts. Big lump of a boy who was a thorn in our side. RIP big man.Genuinely never heard of him not that it matters
RIP
I remember that well. It was the first time I seen us beating them.RIP Shug, can remember him scoring against us at Ibrox, they were 2 nil up at HT we came back and won 3-2.
Big Shug will be attending Lodge Meetings in Heaven.I'm sure Gordon Smith scored the winner?

The boy was a bit like our d j could play centre forward or centre half decent player for the scum at that time wasnt a bitter tim rip shuggRIP I remember him scoring 2 at Ibrox in my first game as a Ballboy, we won 3-2
We battered them in the first half too - just couldn’t put the ball in the net.Shuggy scored with 2 headers in the first half. We absolutely battered them in the second half with Davie Cooper dismantling them.
Same sands of time mate.....i thought it was two headers but was also pished so possibly talking pish.Sure one of them was a poachers tap in from a Burns cut back. Maybe not Sands of time and being a bit pished.
