he put the trip to Colombia ahead of Rangers.
so why did Colombia name him in the squads ?This should be fun to see how his biggest cheerleaders on here spin this.
I stated many times last season when it happened and have repeated it since the , he could have told Colombia he was injured given the evidence on tv at Dens Park and in Belgrade just days prior.
International teams and clubs often operate on trust and I stated my view was there was no way he’d be summoned to Colombia if he stated he was injured - they’d have trusted him.
Now it’s claimed Colombia didn’t want him to travel over but he did so anyway. And by doing so, he ended up injured for months and missing our EL final.
Wow.
Simply further highlights that Rangers is bottom of Morelos priority list.
The day he departs the club can’t come quick enough.
Absolutely disgraceful
He should, the vast majority of players who play for us should be going out and playing International Football.
If Morelos had went away and scored a couple of goals the club would have happily milked that to try and get an extra few million for him had a club bid for him.
The attitude some have that players who play for us should dismiss International Football and retire from International Football would have consequence to us if it were a reality.
No one is saying he should dismiss international football. In these circumstances, though, the decision was wrong.
He already missed games in January for rescheduled internationals. He rightly went but was one of three players from a 28 man squad who didn’t make the bench.
The subsequent fixtures were in effect friendlies given Colombia’s WC qualifying situation.
Are you saying scoring in one of those would have had more impact on a transfer fee than a Europa League Final performance?
And just to note, given his prior times with Colombia, it would likely he would see very limited minutes.
I’m not sure why anyone would defend him in his instance.
It’s in the Sun, so it must be true. This should be fun to see how his biggest cheerleaders on here spin this.

Rangers have been in a title race most years we've been around, yet this scenario hasn't happened before. It's just cos it's Morelos fans are desperate to chase him out the club by any means possible. Much of it likely influenced by undercover Celtics fans feeding them false stories. It's a real joke but that's what social media is doing to people these days. That’s nonsense. Players pull out of squads all of the time without such repercussions. Indeed at the same time, if I recall correctly, a Celtic player withdraw from a squad.
The decision was on Alfie.
The result of when Colombia games took place was an unfortunate circumstance but the notion he (or an player) should be rejecting the idea of playing for their country is just a bit silly regardless of if they had played in a prior game or not, a player wouldn't view it like that and nor should the
If Morelos, or any player was playing in International Football and scoring goals of course it would attract attention
Making reference to a European Final which wasn't taking place at the time is just daft, he feasibly could have done both without injury
What’s daft is trying to create justifications but keep going.
We were in the latter stages of Europe, not a common occurrence and with a vital OF also coming up.
He was carrying a knock. The sensible option for a professional given the time of the season would be to take the international break to recuperate.
Alfie likes his Colombian jaunts. I don’t blame him. But for a Rangers perspective it was a poor decision.
Morelos should be the first attackers name on the team sheet from now until the end of the season.Morelos is only interested in himself. Hope he never plays for club again.hope he fades into mediocrity
A quick few points on this, just because the logic is so glaringly obvious to me.No one is saying he should dismiss international football. In these circumstances, though, the decision was wrong.

That would break standard FF procedure for many on here.Would you not like the story to be validated before shooting the player?
A quick few points on this, just because the logic is so glaringly obvious to me.
1) If they had already effectively qualified, would that not suggest that the manager might be likely to rotate the squad slightly and give other players a chance? Therefore Morelos!
2) If that is the case and Morelos does get a chance, if he plays well do you not think that would increase his chances of getting picked for the World Cup? Or starting future games?
3) If Morelos pulls out and someone else plays well in his place, do you not think that would seriously harm his chances of getting picked for the World Cup?
This is so blinding obvious for me I'm just not seeing any issues with his behaviour whatsoever.
Man wants to play at a World Cup, let's burn him at the stake.
Trying to justify a player wanting to play International Football is daft?
If the knock was that bad, then as sensible an option would have been to rest him for the entirety of the Cup game v Dundee rather than giving it 45 minutes.
According to the post I replied to they basically had already qualified, I'm just going off what that poster said.Colombia didn't make the World Cup
Look at you getting a raging hard-on at the sight of The Sun’s “claims”.This should be fun to see how his biggest cheerleaders on here spin this.

Didn't even get stripped and we were playing an OF game in a tight title race. That's how much respect they have for us and Morelos. No one is saying he should dismiss international football. In these circumstances, though, the decision was wrong.

You’re all over the place.
I’m talking about the specific instance not “international football”. I’ve already said he was correct to go in January, for example.
The knock doesn’t have to be “that bad”. But it obviously was troublesome.
The decision was then to potentially exacerbate the issue by lengthy travel and training with a staff who weren’t fully aware of the problem.. or remain at Ibrox for day-to-day recovery.
According to the post I replied to they basically had already qualified, I'm just going off what that poster said.
I guess many of us just like to have our biases confirmed, regardless of sources or facts. The sun printing "claims"
And yet some people jump on Alfie before they know the facts
Ahh OK, still doesn't change anything I said; just swap the upcoming World Cup for the next COPA America qualifying campaign, and the manager is surely likely to rotate if his previous choices have let the nation down? If anything it seems like a pretty unmissable game for someone like Morelos to lay claim to a spot on the team. The subsequent fixtures were in effect friendlies given Colombia’s WC qualifying situation.
Because Colombia were out of it by that point.
A year old story with no substance or credibility, twisted into Gers-bashing porn for the handwringers and timposters on here. The sun printing "claims"

Yet he trained, despite not being wanted?Squad was named well before Dens Park.
He knowingly travelled injured and trained less than 48hours after Dens Park
- that’s not up for debate
I can't believe that Faryd Mondragon hates Morelos...
Some would say it means he's for the Joe ToffWhat’s the script with the whole Everton top thing? Is there more to it or is it as simple as man wears football top?
They do though. If someone does something wrong then its wrong, peoples opinions shouldn’t change depending what player it is.
If it isn’t to Everton, why their top? Some would say it means he's for the Joe Toff
Nah I am pretty consistent in the idea a player should play International Football. He could have both done that and scored in a European Final.
If the knock was troublesome Rangers were doing next to nothing to actually show that based on the minutes the players was being played and how it was being "managed" so I could see why a player would then go and play International Football.
If the club felt the player was at risk of injury I would have suggested they simply not play him at Dundee in the Cup and bring him off a lot sooner than with 10 minutes go in games.
I am struggling to buy into the idea that away to Dundee for instance (in the league) that those 3 minutes less were that game changing in the context of the injury.
The club also bite themselves on the arse slightly when they say the injury occurred when away so evidently felt he wasn't carrying that much an injury prior to going.
But to be fair, our injury management is patently perfect anyway.
Colombian media reported it on Friday because Mondragon said it on national radio on Thursday night
I've no idea if Mondragon is telling the truth or full of shit but posters are kidding themselves if they think the Scottish media were never going to get a hold of it or run with it when they came across it.

I wonder if Alfie, Rangers or Colombia paid for his thousands of miles junket?Ding ding, we have a winner.
No matter what your opinion of Morelos, there’s a reason this story exists and some are falling right into it for the millionth time.
I don’t know all the facts and I don’t know what the answers or, nor claim to.I wonder if Alfie, Rangers or Colombia paid for his thousands of miles junket?
Would seem strange if Colombia paid for a player to travel the world when told not to?
Did he get his operation here or in Columbia? Was it his existing injury or a new one or even the old one aggravated in training with a team he shouldn’t have been training with? I wonder who paid for that?
So many questions before I start on the player bashing but you seem to know all about it because it ‘exists.’
When you put it like thatThe idea that Colombia goalkeeping legend Faryd Mondragón has shared the story in an attempt to play mind games with Morelos before the Old Firm triple header is a belter, even for FF.
I agree with you on that bud.I don’t know all the facts and I don’t know what the answers or, nor claim to.
But I do know the rationale behind why this is being made out to be a ‘thing’ by a newspaper with form for click baiting and mud slinging when it comes to us, but whitewashes elsewhere.
But he didn’t play in either and his season ended. This would suggest poor choices were made - and it isn’t the first time around Alfie and Colombia.
I’m also coming from a Rangers fan perspective. Alfie at Ibrox vs. Celtic and in Seville could have resulted in a very different season.
The player contributed to the situation.
Dont know 100% but i bet its a top one of his team mates gave him , does the lad mina not play for evertonWhat’s the script with the whole Everton top thing? Is there more to it or is it as simple as man wears football top?
Faryd O'Dragon more like. Amma right? The idea that Colombia goalkeeping legend Faryd Mondragón has shared the story in an attempt to play mind games with Morelos before the Old Firm triple header is a belter, even for FF.
Your first part is correctAye but...
Gio ran him into the ground when he should have been resting him!
Aye but...
it's Gio's fault he's fat and unfit, he should have just played him 90mins after 90 mins and he'd eventually be in shape and back RAGDOLLIN' centre backs
Excellent patter.Look at you getting a raging hard-on at the sight of The Sun’s “claims”.
Probably as excited by that story as you’ve ever been for a Rangers win.
It’s not really patter is it?Excellent patter.
It has quotes from a former Colombian player.
Some posters could walk in on Morelos ploughing their mrs or boyfriends perhaps, and the posters would make a defence for it.
Never in the modern times has one player been given so much leeway and excuse making by some of our fans.
