We have made our statement, now take the Celtic path, stay silent, decline to comment, and waif until it dies down.
Ah, the mysterious R rate, a political tool to be wielded when it suits. They’re doing anything to keep Nicola off the front pages so get used to it, the schools are back and they said that they expect the R number to rise over the next two Weeks but I would imagine they will now changed their pre written stories sitting waiting to go out
The Green Brigade get the red carpet treatment because the Poileas are instructed from on high not to get heavy handed with them as it will alienate the rc vote . The cops rightly took the softly, softly approach to deal with our crowd. Franco style policing would have resulted in carnage for obvious reasons. Given the numbers, the celebrations weren’t even boisterous by any manner of means save for three park benches.Indeed is this the police talking on behalf of the police service or is it the police service talking on behalf of the Nationalist Government.
I mean, who can really tell the difference nowadays?
It was allowed to happen for a reason. There was nothing to stop Police Scotland getting their own message out far and wide all last week via all MSM sites that Rangers fans should not go anywhere near Ibrox or George Square.
It surely would not have been a massive exercise for Police to block Edmiston Drive at either end of the stadium as well as block access from Copland Rd from 1pm on Saturday and 2pm yesterday.
Last para nails it!How many txts and phone calls have there been to orchestrate this onslaught?
Scotland is a banana republic with every organ within the public realm desperate to be onside with the ruling party.
It’s appropriate to blame individuals for flouting laws but the way the club has been roped into this is really sinister.
Does the SNP government accept responsibility for the behaviour of all independence supporters? Do police issue statements castigating the party for failing to control them?
No , they’re not .A.C.A.B
It wasn't meant to be seriousNo , they’re not .

If they think that statements from Rangers was going to make any difference then we have some incredibly stupid people in some big jobsThese idiots in charge think a few tweets would have stopped the thousands of fans from turning up.
Utter utter morons.
Exactly this, it is obvious from the car videos before the St Mirren game that Rangers players and mgt were totally taken aback at the scale of the attendance despite SG issuing a pre match plea. After the match he did the same. Rangers could have put something on their Twitter feed and website. The whole world knows it would have made no difference. At what point do the Scottish Government and police with their vast resources think it is their job to control crowds and stop blaming others? Pathetic. How the f()ck did Rangers know how many fans would have been there? And what did they want them to do? Shout out the window and tell them to go home? If the police wanted to they could have broke up the crowd long before it got so large, another police cock up.

HAW PLOD.What do they suggest that the club should have done, any more than they did?
Let's be honest, this was an outdoor event mostly concerning young people who have been banged up in their houses for the last year.
How much of their lives are they meant to lose and who has the right to continually demand that they sacrifice further living for a virus that is probably on its last legs, and which in truth was never a threat to these young people in the first place?
As for the police, they have turned into a limp wristed organisation that pursues victim status with all the appetite of a Hollywood z list starlet married to a thick Prince of the Realm.
The entire structure of the UK and especially Scotland has become totally risk-averse and god help people if they ever have to face up to real hardship.
Ffsake we used to breed men in this country!
don't think that. is their issue m8 they are saying Rangers didn't do enoughthe club stated a few times to follow the rules
what more could be done from the club?
the police failed to control an obvious situation
Yep, as clear as day - directed to issue it by Yousaf & SturgeonHand written by the Scottish government and the police have been ordered to issue it . Clear as day .
I’d love some clarity on this “ behaviour “ that was a disgrace ? Does he mean just meeting up/ gathering in the first place ? Because the behaviour of 99% was exemplary
For me a key factor is are we talking about `Sunday’s happenings here ? I assume so .Statement from DCC Malcolm Graham on football fans gathering in Glasgow
Deputy Chief Constable Malcolm Graham said: “The behaviour which we saw at the weekend was disgraceful and I utterly condemn the individuals who chose to completely disregard the coronavirus regulations, putting both the wider community and our officers at risk.
“I also strongly condemn the lack of support from Rangers Football Club over the messages we repeatedly asked them to put out to persuade fans not to go out celebrating and encourage those who did gather in large numbers to return home.
“We’ve been planning for the conclusion of the football season for some time since the league was allowed to resume and the sport is in a very privileged position given the restrictions seen across the country for almost a year.
“It was very clear through the lack of messaging that Rangers did not take seriously their responsibilities in terms of seeking to persuade their fans to celebrate safely and responsibly.
“I commend the officers who delivered a policing operation which was entirely consistent with our approach throughout this pandemic to maintain public safety and minimise disorder, disruption and damage to property.
“They did this faced with considerable danger, all of which was completely unnecessary and avoidable.
“Where large numbers of people gather at an unplanned event such as this we use established crowd control measures to ensure we are keeping the public safe and manage those who are refusing to disperse.
“We will work with football clubs, local authorities and the Scottish Government to ensure we do everything we can to persuade people that none of these scenes can be repeated as the football season continues.”
The only thing that could have probably been done is release a statement asking fans to go home. I was surprised they didn't. It would have been one line and would have avoided a lot of this. What exactly could Rangers have done? Stevie G made his comments before and after our match advising fans to stay safe.
What else could we have done, issue a strong statement on Facebook or something?
Perhaps we should have realised being so good would have the league won before we reach a point where large gatherings are acceptable and we should have thrown a couple of game to delay such celebrations.
Go fxxk yourself police scotland, stop being someone else's mouthpiece and grow a pair.
You serve the public, that is your job, do your job and be thankful you are still earning a wage.
Political deflection from the real shame of Scotland which is the behaviour of sturgeon and her band of nationalists.
Call them out Rangers get our “ security advisers” to use their connections and network. The DCC is clearly following orders from above; here’s a statement we made earlierThe 2 main safety officers at Ibrox are formerly Chief Superintendents and as such are well versed in how to deal with this type of situation.
The abomination that is Poileas Alba is being shown up for what it is; SNatziP's guard-dog. Nikkla pulls the chain and the dug barks and follows her commands.
I was already beeling that the STV lead story cut the Rangers' Board statement to make it sound as if we had done nothing to address the potential situation, but the latest attack, whilst unsurprising, has left me fuming.
I would imagine Messrs Martin and Howe are not best pleased with the way the govt and police are churning out their anti Rangers/ Unionist/ Protestant propaganda.
Go the whole way with this Rangers.
Like any organisation, I'm sure the hierarchy don't necessarily speak for the workers. They probably preferred being at a peaceful celebration that having fences thrown at them. Was there not pics doing the rounds of Police posing with fans? Seems a bit of a mixed message.
Or St J to their fans? Let’s leave aside folk actively arranging BLM marches and Independence rallies.Does anyone with twitter know if Celtic released a plea to their fans to go home on the day of the Scottish Cup final or the riots?
Exactly. They have been slaughtered for this no doubt Sturgeon was on the phone to the chief of police and this is why they are now sticking the boot it like everyone else. They’re just trying to deflect criticism away from themselves. It wasn’t Steven Gerrard escorting thousands into the city centre, and what the f*ck have Rangers FC got to do with anything that goes on in George Square.
%^*& that.We have made our statement, now take the Celtic path, stay silent, decline to comment, and waif until it dies down.
It could be argued they knowingly left the doors openThere is literally nothing the club could have done yesterday to prevent things. It was inevitable people were going to turn up places in large numbers - something which has been widely discussed on the internet since it became likely we were going to win the league - ie, December time ! If either the government or the police wanted to stop people gathering they had plenty of forewarning, and plenty of opportunity to put things in place to limit large gatherings; beyond this we've experienced several large gatherings for a variety of different reasons throughout the pandemic, which should have afforded them the opportunity to learn how best to manage crowds in the current climate. Having apparently done %^*& all on this front however for the past 6 months or so (arguably even longer considering they would have also been out in numbers in the event of them winning the 10), they are now taking stick from all quarters of the public and it's blame everyone but themselves time.
There is literally nothing of any use Rangers could have done yesterday to prevent gatherings and the government and police will know fine well that this is the case. The only likely outcome from any statement or dialogue yesterday was the club getting absolute pelters from our own fans for telling us what most of our support probably didn't want to hear yesterday. It's a ridiculous notion to suggest Rangers (or indeed any organisation) can be held accountable for individuals actions in the outside world, and there's not a statement or action anyone could have made or performed yesterday which would have prevented crowds gathering. Any policy from government or police yesterday should have been based on the reality that whether they liked it or not, crowds were going to gather and they should have prepared accordingly - instead they done nothing, engaged in reactionary tactics and are now finger-pointing to cover their own arse against (and if you're not a football fan, somewhat understandable) outrage from the general public.
The long and short of it is they done nothing and now have to be seen to do something in light of the pelters they're getting, and as typical of all bodies of authority in Britain rather than engage in any self-reflection about what they could have done better it's blame the easy target and wash their hands of all responsibility. %^*& them, if they were that arsed they could have easily managed better yesterday and made an active choice not to - don't blame Rangers for your own deficiencies.
Brilliant old school hip hop! Sentiment is valid too of course
