GVB to take over in the summer, with Numan as one of his assistants. Numan comes in now to work alongside JJ and Murty for the rest of the season, and starts to assess the squad. GVB speaks with Numan and together they put forward some proposals to the board re. potential January signings.

It's ridiculous, but if it meant GVB took the gig then it works for me!

Actually I've been having this same recurring dream -
I keep waking up though - mostly with a hangover as well

I’ve been saying GvB since Pedro went but I wouldnt be surprised if a certain current Kilmarnock manager doesn’t get sounded out soon if he builds a bit of momentum down there.

Billic FDB or Van Bro for me, names that will galvanize the support and the Club. Can't see it though and think it will be either Tommy Wright or Michael O'Neil

I voted for Warnock, but I did it before realising he was knocking on 70. Weirdly when he was suggested back in the Charles Green days it had me reaching for the vodka but now I think I could live with it.

disappointed with no mention of Steve Clarke at Killie surely he would jump at the chance to manage the Teddy bears, he has turned them around he has loads of contacts down south and throughout the continent and he has the experience

See a few posts above yours............

Must admit to being surprised that this name isn't higher on fans' wishlist.

imo, if he isn't on the Club's shortlist then there's something wrong.

If it's a manager without a job at the moment, he is 1 of the better 1's available I think.
61 years old.
Hardened and experienced in British football and beyond.

Harry's dad, gets killed before he's born.

%^*& it, I'd take Slaven Bilić right now.
And with a tenuous he's Croatian too link, what about our own Dado Pršo as his assistant?

Terrible patter! Harry's dad is James Potter ya fandan. Dies after he is born an all. Its as if you werent familiar with the potterverse at all!

Hi,

This is my first post and I was interested in gathering people's thoughts on a suggestion for the next manager at our club:

The board made a suggestion that nobody out of work is suitable to the job, but I seem to disagree.
There are a few managers that I think would be a success wearing the navy suit, brown brogues and club tie.

The popular choice being Frank De Boer. But I'd also like to make a case for Martin Jol. I have seen his name mentioned a few times already in this post.

He has been out of work for the last 18 months, where he left Egyptian side Al Ahly as league champions.
Possibly the fact his last post was in Egypt is the reason that he has been forgotten, and not discussed when managerial posts become vacant.

Jol is well known for his successful spells at Spurs and Fulham. Finishing his two full seasons with spurs in 5th place, and finishing his two seasons at Fulham in 9th and 12th place.

Jol has two Dutch Cup successes to his name but unfortunately not the Eredivise title. He finished one point behind FC Twente in his closest attempt. In that same season Ajax won 14 consecutive games at the end of the season, and posted a record goal difference in Dutch football, double the goal difference of the next best team's. This shows a manager with the tactical nous to open up teams to score goals, but be defensively tough to score against.

I also think he is a realistic appointment and affordable.

If we are looking for managers who have a proven success at winning trophies we have to define that success. Managers who have won recognisable leagues such as top European leagues are likely to be out of our budget. Caixinha had a proven record of delivering trophies but he was doing this at a level lesser than or club demands. And if he had been winning trophies and leagues in a decent European league (i.e. Portugal, Netherlands, even English championship) he may have demanded too high a salary.
Martin Jol has delivered a high level of success with regards to his managed club's expectations. This might not be trophies but success is success.

I'd like to think he should be contacted by our club as a potential candidate, so we can assess. And maybe one day he can proudly wear the navy suit, brown brogues and club tie.

I also think we should open talks with Frank De Boer, and maybe also Cristoph Daum (another not mentioned by the media). A conversation will at least determine if these three individuals are right for the job and if they are interested. In my opinion, all three of these managers have a better trophy success and CV than Derek McInnes.

What are your thoughts?

A question for any Bears living in the Netherlands or having knowledge of the game there. What sort of wages are we talking over there for the managers that would potentially be in the frame for our job?

I mean would Ten Hag at Utrecht really be on more money than we could/would offer? I'm assuming that the 3 big clubs over there pay well and then the rest would be fairly low in comparison.

Players on average earn just over £5,000 a week mate.
I would reckon about £3 ,000 - £4,000 a week for the manager.

We must be able to match that surely?

Been said by many on numerous threads here that our job is worth £800,000 p.a.
He would be affordable if desired mate.
One of many hopefully available to us if a £1,000,000 buyout was being paid on top of that salary.

Genuinely have no idea now.

Of the one’s listed I try to picture my reaction to each being appointed and find myself least disappointed by FdB/GvB.

Those are are least semi-interesting. Likes of Wright, McLeish etc are the epitome of “meh”.

As for Murty: appreciate all he’s done and whatnot but his reluctancy to make subs at times, the embarrassing Dundee/Hamilton double header which folk are quick to forget and the fact he’ll never drop Miller mean I’m not in the camp wanting him long term.
