Russia v Scotland Match Thread (**Please Stay on Topic**)

Pass..pass..humph..pass..pass..humph.
He will make us more solid and much harder team to beat they said.
Not realising he would fill the team with the Devlin’s,Brophy’s and O’Donnells of this world. We are on a par with the Faroes,San Marino’s and Gibralter’s of European football now.
You only have to look 50 miles across the Irish Sea to see how a real manager gets the best from an average team.

Scotland just haven’t got the players but putting a diddy like Clarke in charge doesn’t help I just hope non of our players get involved in the setup it’s riddled with ordinary coaches players and is run by a bunch of idiots

give clarke till the play offs , if he fails get an experienced international manager in, there are many out there, look at the amount of german/dutch and french coaches that go to asia and africa to take teams and do well, no reason why scotland cant adopt that. people always point to vogts but he had absolute dross to pick from

Scotland are showing their professionalism and class, from the SFA, the manager and his choices, the players and the media.
I reckon the players should all be decked out in Tartan from head to toe, wear Jimmy hats and be piped onto the park with the proclaimers belting out in the background and a big light show going on while highland dancers throw sprigs of heather to the supporters, you think that sounds a load of shite? You should try watching them play.

Has to be a foreign coach next purely because there are no scottish coaches currently about that are good enough or ready for the challenge. Moyes will probably end up in charge at some point though.

Clarke has the group of limited players for a short period of time, and it sounds that what he does with that time is make them run a lot.

It's really amusing :D

He seemed to make Killie hard to beat, what the hell is wrong with the national team.

Kirk Broadfoot will be in the next squad.

Have Stompy, Cherry and Fat Melt accepted this result?

Or do they want it ignored and the match replayed?

He doesn't have a pitch that other teams struggle to play on.

His players are no longer allowed to kick opponents in the face and get away with.

Killie play on a plastic pitch and under Clarke were allowed to kick their opponents off the park, with no consequences, (under the guise of it being a 'man's game'). In fact Clarke was lauded for making the most of his limited resources. Everything that's wrong with Scottish football summed up in a paragraph.

Play on grass, encourage skill by refs cracking down on thuggery and immediately you have a bigger base of players to select from. If academies are only selecting the biggest, most physical players, then you immediately lose the next Scottish Messi, Xavi or Iniesta. Scots are generally smaller in stature so we are probably losing a large percentage of youngsters who may be skillful but just would not be able to cope with the physicality in the Scottish game. I was watching Billy Gilmour making his debut for Chelsea and thought 'Jesus, can you imagine him playing against Livingston'.

What we don't need is another report into what is wrong with our game by the likes of Henry McLeish or whoever. What we need is a revolution. Get rid of the Largs mafia, root out all the deadwood from the SFA, educate refs into carding hammer throwers for the full 90 mins of games and don't give them a free pass in the first 10 mins, get our youths playing football with skill and passing content in their mind that some thug will not maim them with a tackle from behind or other thuggery, reform the league into two divisions of 18 teams each playing each other home and away, do away with the league cup and give a progressive young coach the Scotland job and finally make sure we play on grass pitches.

I see the tartan army are now blaming McLeish as he apparently caused this. Unbelievable the hoops they’ll jump through to avoid the facts.

That is all you need to provoke real change and success in our game.

Just that. And yet they refuse to do it.
They are not fit for the jobs they are in. You can imagine them having meetings, incredulous at how “all these daft wee countries look so much better and more talented than us”

Guardians of the game?
They’re running it into the ground with their 1970s approach. Beyond parody.

It's not just our SFA that have brought Scottish football to it's knees, our own wee Country as a whole has been brought to it's knees.

The SFA like the SNP are filled with hate and division and that is having a detrimental effect on our way of life, not just from a footballing perspective.

Thank goodness, we have our club to support, at least we will know success again and soon..........

He made Killie hard to beat because they had a horrible surface that massively benefited them.

They also were allowed to literally kick players in the face and get away with it. You don't get away with that when you have actual referees who apply the laws of the game.

The SFA needs a complete overhaul, get shot of the dinosaurs, bring in fresh blood who strive for an 'Elite' level.
From there is needs a progressive manager who bring top level staff - i.e. not forcing a player to cover 10KM after a 90minute match.
Basically, see what we did, the SFA needs to do that.

I agree with all of the above but with one proviso. I believe there is a place for artificial surfaces in our game at youth and development levels. They offer a consistent playing surface for young players to develop individual skills that are denied them for long periods of the year on grass surfaces due to our long wet winters turning all but professionally maintained pitches into quagmires where ball control and passing on the deck are all but impossible.

You cant make up this stuff.

Don't buy it. On paper, McGinn should have been our best player last night, and in my opinion he was, by a country mile. He tried his best to make things happen. Robertson too should have stood out but he was dire, really dire.
Yeah left backs are involved in controlling a match just like central midfielders. Not defending what was another poor performance or the player particularly as I couldn't really care about him specifically. It's the arguement being presented that I personally find daft.
