If you were to see my 13 year old daughter, and even spoke to her you would probably not realise she’s ASD.
However she struggles with anything over 3 people in a room, if the noise was too loud she could easily curl up in a ball in the middle of the room screaming. If you tried to move her she could lash out, she could strike someone. We structure her life to stop this happening. It’s called parenting.
We will all know someone who’s ASD, my child is different to every other. I’ve sat in the company of a 24 year woman who wets herself and displays the intellect of a 6 year old. Nothing about ASD is templated, the responsibility for the 15 year old resides with his parents.
ASD kids can easily be manipulated by other kids in particular for acceptance. If this kid is truly ASD I hope he gets help before he simply ends up another life thrown on the scrap heap because the people who should care didn’t.
