Tav injured or off form ?

55 along with Europe last season was his pinnacle, he is now on the slippery slope that all players come to eventually.
Needs replaced.

Jack has played at that position before, but I agree, Devine seems a better fit. What's unarguable is that we must drop Tavernier.
Club captains play unless there is a major issue.
Tav has still been decent so I don't get why he should be dropped ?

Tav has been fundamental in our recovery but he's being detrimental to our progression. I welcome a system where we are less reliable on Tav running up and down the wing and a player getting onto one of his crosses in a packed box.

I think we need someone in the back room staff who specialises in fitness,At times we look slow even sluggish and we’re definitely lacking in physicality not just Tav.

Please making excuses for a full back that can't defend is not helping things,I know we have no options available at the moment but we need two full backs that can actually do that job, fitness is only an excuse
I'm not making excuses for him at all, I think he's unfit and I gave my unprofessional reason why

He looks like he is injured to me , no zip or energy about him and getting caught in possession.
This isn’t the true Tav we know .
Could be injured, could be losing sharpness due to Gio's reluctness to play the pressing game Stevie G did, Tav always had energy but never had zip, one paced throughout his career but it was the timing of his runs which stood out, but when you constantly have a whole team focused on passing backwards then that's another big part of his game gone.

The reality is as part of player trading he is getting older, he should have been punted and Patterson would have taken his place for a few years to allow Devine time to develop etc.

I agree he has not been at his best this season but he has played 15 games and has 3 goals and 4 assists.

At some point we will have to accept he won't get 20 goals and 20 assists every season.

When would you have punted him, just after he’d captained us to 55 and won PFA POTY or just after he’d Captained us to the Europa League final having been outstanding and finishing the competitions top
Scorer?o_O

I would say a mixture of playing with a slight knock and the muscle mass he gained in the summer.

Posters were saying after Hearts that he looked back to his best though? Suddenly a poor game against one of the best teams in the world and its back to I wank dugs…
I think he looks top heavy since the summer.

In player trading you surely sell at their peak no? Sentiment doesn't play a part in the model if it's going to work. When would you sell after he is done and of no value?

Tav didn't single handedly get us to the final and if we are honest if Haaland had not been injured for Dortmund we weren't getting past them.

Last night evidenced just how ordinary he is against the very top level.

Our full backs shouldn't need to provide this in a system if it played attacking midfielders and quality wingers, that's our issue at the moment!

Said to my dad last night at the game that he’s lost half a yard of pace since last season.

You used to just expect him to bomb forward all the time but he’s not able to do it this season, though he’s still made goals which is the only plus point.

Definitely not as mobile but I reckon that’s partly due to piling on the upper body muscles. Injury or niggle plus what he’s got in front of him isn’t helping either.

Firstly there’d have been an uproar if we’d sold him then and secondly you need a buyer.Due to Tav’s age group he’s never been a player touted for our player trading model.

He’s proved himself time and time again against top level opposition.Dortmund,Leipzig,Porto,Benfica etc.The whole team bar the keeper and 3 CB’s were poor last night and being completely honest,Liverpool level of European clubs are in another galaxy so it’s a p!ss weak angle to attack him.

Personally I think he’s not been at full tilt so far this season due to a combination of factors - playing with an injury/looking to me ‘top heavy’ since the summer, the managers tactics and our general team looking a yard short fitness wise.Again, that’s down to the manager and the pre season he gave the players.

Why? If he was here and Tav broke his leg Zukowski still wouldn't be getting a game because he was terrible and not rated.

The issue is not having a capable alternative but Zukowski being loaned out with a view to punting is certainly not a mistake.
He was terrible and not rated? What you basing that on?

And if he was terrible and not rated why was he bought in the first place?

If he’s injured, he needs dropped until it’s sorted 100%.

It’s not fair on the player or the team playing him at 50% fitness.

what’s going on with him this season? is he injured? looks miles off it . Him and tillman were rank rotten on the right hand side tonight.
To be fair he's not a great defender when he has to play against that level of opposition - perfect for domestic level because he is going forward and it does seem that gio has changed that a bit as well.

Hernia (or similar) and needs an op but will wait til WC is my guess.

It's actually pretty obvious. It's not stupid mistakes that you notice (although they still happen) it's his game overall, He's at around 80%. I felt sorry for him last night when I saw that little rat boy coming on, Tav when 100% is a better player and he hasn't been able to show it.

Once again makes the decision to let Zukowski go enormously baffling.

It's truly mental that we left ourselves short. I'm assuming Devine is well thought of at the club but from all accounts he's not ready to be playing regular. I. Like the idea of promoting youth but Zukowski was just a young guy too

He’s been very poor all season. I would okey Devine on Saturday, give Tav a rest. He doesn’t look his usual fit self.
Tavs been terrible this season - the amount of times he loses possession or misses a tackle is alarming, but based on what I’ve seen of Devine, no way is he ready to play in our first team yet.

Definitely not played well this season and I think he is carrying an injury confirmed when he was taken off this season and confirmed by Gio.

He has been poor in the CL , bad passes and decisions, and stripped of his natural fitness, adding nothing in attack.

He needs a rest for me.

The manager won’t play the same tactics that Warburton and Gerrard did and Tav can’t play any other way.
Gio is finished, he is too weak to make the required changes, but we shouldn’t be looking for a manager that can play the way Tav wants.

It’s Rangers FC not Tav’s 11.

I’d hazard a guess at the reason he is considered undroppable is down to his insane goal and assist return and that our rotational option is a kid who would look as out of place as Leon King did last night.

People don’t know how good they’ve got it with Tav. Same applies to Goldson. Watch us struggle without him in the team, just as we would without Tav.

I will acknowledge he hasn’t been his best this season and yet he’s still produced 4 goals and 5 assists if I’m not mistaken? An output that nobody out with our striker has matched.

He was shocking last night, even in first half where by all accounts, we played well.

He is our on field leader, especially when Goldson went off. But he displayed no leadership at all last night. He didnt even come out to media after it, sent Borna.

You don't have to be 'on form' to be an effective leader. Last night he showed that when chips are down, he'll hide.

His output is great no doubt about that.

But we need to start looking at the back 4 as a collective. Neither full back is good at defending and we’ve been through a conveyor belt of centre halves already this season. That’s in part why we’ve been on the end of so many pumpings.

Something needs to change there. Barisic is the obvious short term change because his output nowhere near matches what he costs at the other end.

Medium term though i.e the end of the season I don’t think anyone is untouchable including Tav. This squad needs a complete revamp and we need to move on some players that are starting to look like they’ve run their course.

Past his peak and was never good enough for this level anyway, no matter how hard some try and convince themselves otherwise.

Looks like he can't sprint. It's a liability but Gio obviously doesn't trust young Devine. And don't think he can rest Tav now with Goldson out.

I think it's clear to see he is struggling with a knock and i think we are trying to get him by until the world cup in order to rest it.

Was watching some of his runs last night and he definitely looked like he was labouring/holding back.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if he's working through a knock. Which, in itself, is a fcking huge problem as it's never going to end with him fully fit and no lay-off is it?

He's clearly injured but thanks to our incredible recruiting we have no other option but run him into the ground.
