The love in for Ryan Jack, McCrorie, Arfield etc

OP a bit blunt perhaps but a blind man could see we need midfielders who are better on the ball if we want to win things.
I agree with that. We say we play 4-3-3 but our wing forwards are just normal wingers, they’re not goalscorers which is what you need in a 4-3-3. Motherwell recall a 19 year old from a loan and he’s already scored several individuals goals cutting in from the wing and firing unstoppable shots at goal. We don’t have that on either wing, although Jamie Murphy is the closest we have to a goalscorer in that position and he’s injured.

This is spot on. If playing 433 , wide players need to contribute between 10 to 15 goals a season.
The midfield has to be very dynamic and be able to do all jobs well. They have to create, break down and fight to win a game. They have to be able to tackle well, be able to run with the ball and to be able to make good use of the ball.
Our current mids are all too specialist and mostly in the defensive mould.
A playmaker is exactly what we need in our midfield, we have none. We have no midfielder who can score regularly either. There is no flexibility in the skills of our current midfield which is why they can’t cope with a team sitting on the counter attack.

The difference when McCrorie plays to when he doesn't is night-and-day. In Scotland, you need a player to go and win second balls. McCrorie will do that all day long.
I like big Ross as a person - but being brutally honest, he is very poor with a football at his feet. His passing is average at very best and he seriously lacks composure and simply doesn't look comfortable on the ball. If he was playing for a Motherwell or someone like that then fine - but we are Rangers trying to win leagues. Our midfielders must be comfortable with the ball, be able to look up, see what's going on around them and make passes that are constructive for the team. They must also be aware of the patterns of play going on around them.

I'm sorry, but the big lad really doesn't do that. The midfield is the weakest area of our team and the least effective - so big Ross is not the only one who is below what we need, but we really do need better in there.

It's early days, but Kamara came in and instantly his composure, passing, awareness, mobility and touch/control was way above McCrorie's. The lad has alot of development required, hence i feel a loan in the next window would be best for all parties..

We have never lost a domestic game when mccrorie has played in the holding role he is our best player in that position.

Means nothing IMO mate.

He still requires a lot of development to make him a midfielder that should be a mainstay in our team which would win a title.

If anything, I actually think he'd be better at right back.

I just don't think he has the awareness, composure, mobility, control and passing ability/range to be a proper midfielder at this stage.

Nearly all of our midfielders are defensive mids, and I think pretty good ones at that. The only midfielder with any creativity is Arfield, so we need more with creativity (no surprise to anyone).

If we played Jack or McCrorie as a DMF, Arfield and another creative player (which we don't have) in front of them as AMFs, I think we'd do fantastically well.

I think we should punt a number of our current DMFs (because we have too many) and sign a couple of AMFs. We need one DMF and two AMFs on the park against everyone but 'them' and away in Europe, where it should be switched.

Also, if we had more attacking threat through the middle, our wide players would get more space. As we have seen, it's all to easy to stifle our current attacking threats as it is too one-dimensional.

Broxi1690 jack did ok I suppose but still no where near the level that's going to win us leagues or be an international player. Always up for being proved wrong
